Ignore the 1-star reviews from years ago.  We stayed here in July 2024 while travelling back from Dawson City home.   Our room was excellent.  Very clean, had a fridge, appeared to be recently renovated with new bathroom fixtures and linoleum.  This is not on the same scale as a Hilton or Marriott, but if you're looking for a place to stay while passing through on the Alaska Highway, this place is fine.  I would stay here again, and will recommend it to others.

Stopped here because it was the only motel in Haines Junction that had a vacancy by the time we rolled in. The check-in staff were very friendly and accommodating, letting us check out the room first before committing, (It looks a bit run down from the outside but, hey, it's in the middle of nowhere along the AlCan Hiway!). The room is best described as garage sale decor with old and mismatched furnishings but it was clean, warm, and everything worked. I would definitely stay here again, with no concerns. On a side note, the owners also own the little Chinese food restaurant on the property..we ordered pork chow mein and it was very good...will eat there again on our current return trip if meal timing is right....I rated this place above average as 'Very Good'...not because of the "ambiance" but because the  owners were great and so was the food

Nice folks and good food!

Our first stay at Ida's Motel while visiting relatives.  We noted poor reviews in past.  There are new owners,  trying hard to better the place.  It is a good motel, in good condition.  The rooms that allow pets are in an older part of the property.  Rooms were good size, clean and good beds.  It is a highway motel, not the Hyatt, but I would not hesitate to recommend it for a travel stop. The restaurant and bar are open but we ate at our relatives place so can't comment on the food.

Staff was quite friendly. owner was not. No discounts, no coffee, no gas before 8am. pretty dumpy looking. shower worked ok. very run down overall. he could of sold gas to at least 10  customers i saw in the am that stopped for the 24 HOUR SERVICE SIGN.. When i questioned him about the 24 HOUR sign he said it was not lit up. REALLY now who would see it lit up other than perhaps between 2 and 4 am in the land of the midnite sun.. twas two stops first and last.. .

better than nothing

Room was extremely dated. Like something out of the 80’s. Bathroom was very small. But if you need a clean, safe bed, this works. I wouldn’t eat at the restaurant. It smelled weird when we went in to check in. Go across the street to Buckshot Betty if you’re hungry. 

It’s Okay

We got a late start from Whitehorse, on our way to Alaska, and we arrived in Beaver Creek around 7 PM. Rather than push forward, we decided to try Ida’s. Frankly, our first choice was the Westmark, but they were closed, not yet ready for the summer season. Buckshot Bettys was our second choice, but sadly they had NO VACANCY posted on their door...so we ended up at IDA’s. It was surprisingly spendy, and a little disappointing for the price. I will say certainly the room was clean, very roomy and adequately furnished. However, the room was also shivering cold when we arrived.  The proprietor loaned us a portable space heater to warm it up a bit, but that really didn’t help much. We just bundled up and snuggled and made the best of it. There’s a TV in the room. There’s free WiFi, too.  By the following morning, we had a comfortable amount of heat. There’s no coffee maker in the room, but our host was kind enough to provide us with complimentary coffee. In summary: If you don’t mind spending a lot, and roughing it a bit, then Ida’s is okay. It beats sleeping in your car!

Clean room, but pricey, and no frills. 

Room was clean but lacked basic amenities like 2 pillows on the bed and  wifi. Seems to be a one woman show with the same person at the front desk, making the food in the restaurant and taking cash for the gas pumps. Even as an overnight guest, we paid $3 each for a small styrofoam cup of coffee in the morning. No coffee machine in the room …

Booked a night for my son who is travelling from Anchorage to the States to come home from the Army.  First bed had black hair in it.  Second bed had hair under the pillow.  He felt itchy all night.  Only redeeming quality was a hot shower.

Cleanliness isn't their strong suit

Well, this place was weird. It’s slightly more expensive than other places in town, but you don’t get your money’s worth. Looks fairly normal from the outside but inside it’s like 1975 vomited everywhere - patterned wallpaper abutting the ceiling, similarly patterned eiderdowns. Fairly charmless inside, my room smelt of feet and something else I couldn’t put my finger on. Bathroom dirty, discarded two of the (wafer-thin, sandpaper-sharp) towels which were dirty before I selected one that was usable. Couldn’t get the faucet to change from shower to bath mode so tried to fill the tub with the shower, didn’t really work so bathed myself in a couple of sad inches of water. That’s the other thing, the bath is ridiculous. I’m not large and this could barely accommodate me lengthways, forget having a nice soak at the end of a long drive. Oh yeah, and walls are thin so every movement of the person above was audible, to much consternation. After hours (timings of which are unspecified) you have to go and knock on room 101 to presumably wake up this man who gives you a key - while I suppose I understand manning a desk all night just in case is a bit of an ask, it felt obtrusive banging on his door and clearly getting him out of bed. Internet at least is pretty good, but I’d shop around for something better before you go here. 

I wouldn’t 

Seemed like it would just be another budget hotel. No frills etc. We had a double queen room. One of the neatly made beds was full of hair! Not just on the pillowcases, but all over the bottom and top sheet. The other bed was clean thank god. It was late, so we did not alert manager, but left note on dirty bed.
