Our family (2 adults and a 14 year old) recently returned from a week at Big White. We stayed in White Crystal Inn unit 224 which is a superior kitchenette unit. This is accurately shown on the resort website.

PROS:
- Dealing with central check-in was a pleasure throughout. They were quick to respond to questions and concerns.
- The room was quite spacious. It is a large corner unit with lovely views and is on the quieter side of the building (facing away from the main part of the village). The two queen beds meant our son did not have to sleep on a sofa or Murphy bed. There was plenty of storage space and the bathroom was quite large as well.
- The kitchenette was handy. While compact, it had everything we needed, including a 2-burner stovetop, toaster, kettle, large bowls, all kinds of utensils, pots and pans, dishes and cutlery.
- There was a small coffee maker in the room and we were provided with coffee, tea, sugar and whitener.
- This unit has a full-size fridge which is a nice bonus.
- The in-room gas fireplace kept us nice and cozy.
- The Bullwheel Restaurant is in the same building.
- There is a communal sauna (the dry kind) and a communal hot tub.
- Perhaps most noteworthy, the property is truly ski-in ski-out and it is easy to access all the village amenities. Going out the door from the ski locker, turn right to get onto the Bullet Express and turn left to get onto Lara's Gondola or to walk into the main part of the village.

CONS:
- The biggest drawback was that the unit reeked of curry when we arrived. Due to a delayed flight, it was very late by the time we got to the unit. We opened the door and the odour was like a full frontal assault. We were too tired to do anything about it upon check-in. The next day we asked for a deodorizing spray which was provided, but it only temporarily covered up the smell. We left all the windows open each day that we were out on the mountain in an attempt to air the room out. On our second or third day there, housekeeping did send a team to attempt to deal with the smell. They tried to suction the smell out with a special machine, mopped everything in sight, changed all the bedding, etc. It did help, but the curry smell still lingered. (When we got back home, all our clothes had a stale curry smell.) It was especially noticeable every time we got back to the room after being outside, and was a bit stomach-churning as the smell just got more and more stale over time.

It's not the fault of the housekeeping team that the previous occupants of the unit had decided to cook such strong-smelling food, but we really did think that the room should never have been released in that condition. Housekeeping did apologize to us, but we ultimately spent big bucks to stay in a bad-smelling room for a week. I can only imagine how the owners of the unit would feel.

- Other negatives are relatively minor. The sole hot tub got crowded at times, and there is no on-site front desk but any concerns were addressed directly by central check-in.

- There is a guest laundry room but it is somewhat oddly located in the parkade. The machines take coins but there is no change machine and no vending machine for detergent so the laundry room is effectively useless.

As a result of this experience, we are really not sure if we would return.

Would have been 4 stars except for the strong odour in the room

We stayed here in January and had a great experience! The room we got had 2 queen beds. The room was huge! Definitely dated but the beds were comfortable. You can’t beat the location. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was delicious. Perfect place if you’re on a budget but want to enjoy the ski in/ski out experience.

Great value

Have wanted to stay here for years and finally made it. Clean and looks like recently freshened up. This isn’t a new building but has a great feel  to it. Great facilities and in the middle of the village so everything easy to get to

Bucket list 

It was my fourth time staying at White Crystal Inn in superior kitchenette unit. The rooms are dated but clean, beds are just ok. The biggest plus of this hotel is the super convenient ski in/ski out location right at the bottom of Bulet Express which is the only lift available for night skiing if one desire to get few extra runs. The service is decent and all personnel working her is very nice. The bottom line is that I would not hesitate to  book this property again.

Very good stay

I was warned that my room might be noisy due to proximity to the restaurant/bar, but I think I may have been the noisier party what with my deep sleep snoring, after days on the slopes of Big White.   What beautiful conditions!   

Rental of high performance skiis was a breeze, and lockup room on bottom floor of the hotel made mid-day break for lunch a far far cry from sandwiches from a backpack in the lodge.

Use of Aussie slang by staff was neither more nor less than expected, but never leave your room without at least one "no worries" in your pocket.    You'll actually have no worries, staying at White Crystal, so it's not entirely unfounded.

Amazling location on the mountain

Good rooms, great staff, right in the village. This is no five star resort, to be sure, but the rooms are clean, there are tea and coffee making facilities, TV, free WiFi and a bath - bliss!
There is a ski room which opens onto the village concourse - straight down the slopes to the Bullet lift or an easy 50 metre walk/ski through the village for access to two other major lifts.
Internal access to the Bullwheel bar and restaurant is a great addition (and they serve a decent breakfast too)!

Ski in, ski out with views to die for!

I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. They should call it a salt salad with what taste like canned chicken. Pretty hard to screw up a Caesar salad but their "chef" ruined it. It was not edible and taste like I ate a spoon full of straight salt. It was truly revolting and not a healthy food option for anyone trying to watch their salt intake. Next was the cold kids hamburger, followed by a kids grill cheese on sour dough. Needless to say both kids did not like their lunch either. At $80 for two adults and two kids for lunch we will never eat there again. Super disappointed with the quality of their food.

Mabey the worst resturant food i have ever eaten!

We stayed in room 313. This room faces the village and there is a nice view of easy street and the village center. The room is quite large and has a kitchenette with microwave, two burner stove along with a toaster and a good variety of pots and pans. There is a large bathroom with a bath and shower. There is underground parking, a hot tub and sauna. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble.  The hotel is conveniently  located next to the gondola and ticket center. We will defiantly stay at the White Crystal Inn in the future.
