Our second visit to Hillside did not disappoint. Close to Golden/Kicking Horse but far enough away that you feel the serenity as soon as you enter the property. Lovely and rustic but with all you need in your own little cabin for a relaxing and delightful getaway. The owners have made it into a wonderful escape.  We'll be back!

Our go to place when in the area

My daughter and son-in-law booked Hillside Lodge for their wedding. From the minute we arrived we felt relaxed and "on vacation". The cabins with wood stoves were cozy on the cool fall nights, the outside fire pits were great for socializing, the games field was well used by all, the ceremony overlooking the mountains and river was perfect, and the barn was the a nice mix of country romance. Daily walks down to the river with the kids to throw rocks in the water were great entertainment. Examining bear scat was an education ;+)

Perfect location for relaxed wedding weekend

This was my third trip to Hillside lodge and it sure didn’t disappoint!  We stayed in the Beaver chalet and pretty much had all of the outside green space and fire pit to ourselves the entire weekend!  Great value for a hidden, romantic getaway or for families alike!  
Took the trail to the river for an evening picnic and explored the blaeberry area! 
All amenities you need and then some. 
If visiting in the summer, don’t forget some bug spray :)

Mountain Heaven

I stayed for 10 days, coming halfway around the world to take some time out to unwind in a cabin in the snow. My stay was just perfect. The cabin was very comfortable and cozy, the setting is stunning. If you want peace and quiet and space to breathe, this should work wonders for you. I hope to come back one day.

Cabin in the snow

My son & daughter in law were married here on May 26/18. The Family stayed in the self contained cabins on the hill. They included everything you would need for a weekend away. We brought our own food & drinks. They had community BBQs to cook your meals as well as the cabins contained a stove, fridge & a fireplace. The rest of the guests were bussed from 2 hotel locations in Golden, BC. The Wedding venue itself was wonderful. Beautiful view of the mountains during the ceremony. The barn where the reception was held was awesome. The venue was booked for both Friday & Saturday & a great time was had by all. The Wedding meal was catered by a restaurant in Golden. We were sorry to leave on Sunday morning ❤️

A lovely location with a view on the Beauberry river.
We attended a wedding there.
The aspects that could be thought for improvement.... a large wedding crowd.... the kitchen was inadequate to cook for so many guests.
It would also be nice to have a high quality coffee dispenser for$.
There is no Starbucks in town!!!.

We have no knowledge of the chalets amenities etc.

It's always exciting to attend a wedding, but this past weekend was the best I've ever been to. Why you ask? Well, firstly, it was my son Matthew getting married to his best friend and my new daughter-in-law Emmary; secondly, it was at the most beautiful resort with the friendliest hosts and last but not least, it brought our families together from across the country. There are clean, cool cabins, lodge rooms, a tenting area and perfect spots for RVs to park. We had the whole resort to ourselves...it was like our own little family and friends village. The backdrop for the outdoor ceremony was breathtaking and the reception venue was unique. The river winding its way through the valley is just a short walk away. A huge grassy area for lawn games was perfect for some great team events between the ceremony and the reception and we took full advantage of it! As well as weddings, this would be a spectacular place for family reunions, weekend getaways and corporate retreats.

Wedding Bells in the Mountains

We arrived on the Friday for our son's wedding and the property looked beautiful.  The grass was trimmed, the tents were up and the cabins were beautifully prepared.  Steph and Mark were so easy to work with.   They were there if we needed them but let us have a fun weekend with family and friends without interruption.  This venue was perfect for a wedding.  We had a bbq on the lawn area in front of the cottages on the Friday night.  The wedding site along the Blaeberry River is lovely and the reception space was prepared and ready for us following the wedding.  It was perfect to be able to stay right at the venue.   

The power went out during the wedding ceremony (it was out across all of Golden).  Once the wedding was done, Mark fired up a generator and powered the essential items and we were able to continue on without hardly missing a step.  The power came back on a couple of hours later.

There is a communal kitchen below the reception site which was perfect for us to store and prepare food/beverages for our bbq.  This was a huge help.

The only downside was the mosquitos, so come armed with lots of spray.
