After seeming sweet in order to obtain a large sum of money from me for a month to month lease, Juana was rude, and completely intrusive my entire stay (which wasn't long). She rented me a second floor unit that looked attractive, but was completely unfit to live in. Unusually small, the floors were practically concave and it was impossible to walk in a straight line or keep from bumping into things. The renovations she claimed to have made to the place were cheap and hazardous. Appliances were constantly rolling off countertops etc. because nothing was level.

 One day, I was injured by an Ikea drawer falling off and cutting into my foot. I almost lost my big toe. After returning from hospital, instead of asking how I was or apologizing, Juana showed up at my door and insulted me and the state of my place, which was not even in disarray. After that point she became completely intolerable, harassing me virtually every day, arriving at my apartment without notice, cursing at me in public, discriminating against my visitors and trying to dissuade me from having a relationship of any kind. She also removed my internet router, which was included in our agreement, even though my rent was paid, making it hard for me to work or find anywhere else to live. 

I wouldn't call her OCD, but those are the words she used to describe herself, so I feel it's okay to mention. Unfortunately, being obsessive compulsive doesn't excuse invading someone's personal privacy to such an extent that they feel unsafe. If it isn't obvious by now, I would not recommend this place. 



Horrific on every level

Beautiful house, with a sweet chatty hostess. Our room was upstairs in the main house. It was clean and comfortable with a private bath. We made good use of the tea and coffee trolly, which was just outside in the hall. There is also a lovely sitting area upstairs overlooking the ocean. Breakfast is at a common table, so we got to meet some other travellers. Thank you for a lovely stay! We'll be back!

Lovely visit

We stayed for two nights at Juana’s B&B.  We were in two of the rooms on the main floor.  Both have a private entrance.  The property better than advertised.  Our rooms were spacious, super clean, beautiful furniture, super comfortable beds, soft sheets, nice amenities in the bathrooms.  My mom had a room which is well suited for someone with mobility difficulty.  It was nice to be able to have a coffee or tea in the room prior to breakfast.  It was so peaceful during the day and night.  Breakfast was a perfect amount and different both days.  If you want cereal, toast..it’s available.  Also served was juice, coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt and a hot option.  I’m really pleased I decided to base ourselves in North Sydney and even happier with our accommodation choice.
Juana is a friendly, welcoming host with loads of info about the area.  Thanks Juana for your hospitality.

Wonderful Choice

We enjoyed the lack of stairs in this B&B.  It was also very quiet, being off the main street.  Juana's directions to local food stores, and the way to Cabot Trail, were very good.  The breakfast was fabulous, and we enjoyed the conversation with the other guests.  Our room did not have a frig or microwave, but did have a coffee maker.

Rare Ground Floor Room

My mother and I stayed for 3 nights visiting family and touring the area.  The room was clean and very cozy with lots of interesting decor.  It had lots of amenities; television, wifi, toiletries, housecoats, ensuite bathroom, coffee/tea/cookie station right outside our room.  It was so nice to have coffee in our room prior to breakfast.   We had a beautiful view of the water, the location of the house was excellent close to the Cabot Trail and many other attractions.  We could not hear anyone else in the house so it felt very private.    The home itself is beautiful and historic, it’s large enough If you wanted privacy there was always that option.  There were lots of interesting rooms we were welcome to use throughout the house. There was always a parking spot for the car and the house was very easy to find.  Breakfast was quite thoughtful and extravagant  with a  fresh fruit station, homemade pastries, fresh coffee, juice, and a hot entrée etc etc.  We felt very pampered.  Juana was extremely attentive, welcoming and helpful with lots of knowledge of the area.  She gave us several recommendations of things to do and places to eat at, we followed her advice and  we were glad we did!  While planning this trip,  Juana  replied to emails promptly and is a great communicator.  Thank you Juana for being such a wonderful hostess and for making us feel so welcome.  😘😘

Wonderful Bed and Breakfast!!!!

This was our first time to North Sydney and we were so lucky to have found this place and Juana, our host. She gave us lots of information on the local places to eat and sights to see. Her breakfast in the morning was a great way to start our day of exploring!

Great home away from home

Great location in town with a fantastic innkeeper - Juana is a great host, cook, and expert on what to see in do in Northern Nova Scotia. Room was wonderful! Please make it a point of destination on your trip! You will love to hear her stories of life in this part of the world.

Great BB to stay a day or a week

It's a very cozy, family-friendly B&B, lovingly furnished and maintained. The Victorian-style house stands out comfortably from the usual hotels: you feel at home! The breakfast is very rich and good! The fortress of Louisbourg is worth a small detour.

It's a great alternative to all the hotels in the world.

We were there in the off-season and arrived spontaneously in the evening. We were the only guests, the dinner was very nicely arranged so we got a place in the nearby booked restaurant.
