After a bad experience with a B&B in Clearwater we decided to do some more research on this accommodation and thankfully the TripAdvisor reviews were more honest than the Booking.com reviews. The location of the "chalet" is a block of land where the owners live in a portable house at the front. There are few trees and the overall setting is not very attractive. This would be good in winter time for bucks parties or guys going snowmobiling. We abandoned this place and lost our payment so that we could get decent accommodation at the Chalet Continental in Valemount.

Not for couples or families

We were hesitant that the place was actually still open when we drove up.  There was a for sale sign on the gate post and run down trucks and trailers/mobile home in the yard.  We were greeted by a couple friendly dogs and then by the owner's friend.  He was helpful and friendly and told us which room we were to be in.  The chalet is a log building with a garage section under the rooms.  The room was spacious and clean and had enough beds for everyone.  The owner greeted us after we had parked and I knew immediately that he was drunk as a skunk.  He was friendly enough, but it was off-putting having him so drunk.  He was on his way to being drunk first thing in the morning too, so he clearly has an issue with alcohol.  He was able to give us really good suggestions for dinner and breakfast that were close by so we didn't have to drive to Valemount.

I booked a two day stay at the chalet in May when my parents came from Ireland to visit.   I followed my booking up with a quick phone call the day before as per the directions on booking.com. I spoke with the owner Glen who was pleasant and helpful. We traveled from Calgary and found the Chalet easily from google maps. We received a warm and friendly welcome from Glen and his partner Michelle. We brought our dog Sketch a Shetland Sheepdog who settled in so easily with the two resident dogs who were super friendly and tame.
My Dad had a great time chatting with Glen about their common interests and really appreciated the time Glen took to speak with him. 
 
We had the chalet facing the mountains and as soon as we walked up the steps to the chalet we were blown away not only by the view but also by the arrangement of comfy chairs and seats on the patio. We were not disappointed by the inside of the chalet either. The chalet is a beautiful hand crafted wooden lodge that is joined with another chalet with a separate and private entrance. There is a wonderful wooden bed in the living room and a bedroom off the living room which fits 4 adults very comfortably.

The chalet was spotlessly clean and the kitchenette was well equipped. We also really enjoyed the huge jet tub in the bathroom. 

The only complaint that one could find would be if you had loud neighbors in the adjoining chalet. We had a family beside us who we could hear getting ready at 6am the first morning however this was the only noise we heard during the whole stay. This was especially true of the time we spent together on the patio facing the mountains. One could not find a more tranquil and peaceful place to stay without interruptions, traffic noise etc away from the city. This was the perfect location for a peaceful get away. 

We had read some of the negative reviews so were wary about the booking however we had no issues what so ever with the owners Glen and Michelle who were the perfect blend of friendly and professional. I'm sure my Dad would have enjoyed more time with Glen :) 

There is a small town about 15-20 minutes away where we got supplies for the BBQ that was on the patio outside our chalet. 

We cant wait to return for a longer stay and would advise anyone who has read the negative reviews to keep an open mind and to give this place a chance. You wont be disappointed.

Peaceful haven with a beautiful, scenic uninterrupted view.

We had a very warm and friendly welcome here. The suite was lovely - spacious, well equipped, clean with fantastic views from the veranda over the mountains. We watched humming birds on the feeder right in front of us.
We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Great place to stay !

I would strongly advise against booking this place. The log cabin, composed of two adjacent apartments, is located in the middle of nowhere, right in a junkyard and next to a run-down trailer which obviously is the home of the owner. The apartment itself is spacious and at first glace looks clean. Yet, the sheets appeared to have been used by previous guests as  they were smelly; also, we were bitten by flees. The owner seemed very friendly, though was very obviously under the influence of alcohol. in addition to these points, and apart from the fact that the place is not really close to Mt. Robson, the apartment suffers from a very thin door that connects it with the other apartment. In other words: if the other apartment is occupied by guests, you will hear every word they say and everything they do...On a positive note, the wi-fi worked well and so did the spacious shower/bath tub. All in all, we were not happy about this stay and would certainly not come back. Finally one more word: the place is reviewed on other sites by numerous people and has, to our sincere surprise, received overwhelmingly positive reviews. The very few ones that are critical do however point out more or less exactly the same problems/observations we encountered/made and thus, to us at least, seem to be the really reliable ones.
