Beware. This motel is the worst I have ever seen. We refused to stay. The rooms were musty; the carpet stained; the  bathroom stained and patched with plastic; the owner became aggressive when we tried to leave.  He wanted to take us behind this pictured part but when we glanced around the corner, the building was no better and there was a crowd of people standing around a picnic table with drinks in their hands, staring at us. We retreated. It looks like it's  completely uncared for. The photo on the site does not show what it is like  in the rest of the site. We left and found another hotel and the owner still charged me.

Never, ever go this hotel. I hope this review saves someone else the stress it caused us. 
My Wife, my Mother, and Aunt booked 2 rooms. We arrived at 2 pm, and planned to check in, change and head to a Wedding for 4 pm. 
When we pulled into the parking lot, the building and grounds were nothing like the pictures you will find on any of the booking sites. 
We walked inside to the office area. No one was there. We rang the bell, and we were just getting ready to call the number hanging in the lobby when a man came in from the back. He was hunched over and looked half asleep. He was mumbling something about someone dying and how he was sorry. I said I couldn’t understand him and he started telling us that someone close to them had passed away and then started mumbling again about the hotel being full and he was sorry we had to wait. 
We were all just looking at each other wondering what was going on. 
My Mother stepped up and said we had reservations and he asked for her drivers license. He started looking on the computer and said there were 2 rooms. We all had the same feeling that something just wasn’t right, so I asked if we could please see the rooms first, and told him that the property did not match what was advertised. I told him I was concerned that the rooms may not be acceptable. After some more mumbling he allowed us to take the 2 keys as long as we left my Mothers drivers licence. We left and drove around to the other side of the hotel and couldn’t believe how horrible it looked from the outside. We parked and walked through the weeds into a porch that was rotting, with pieces of shabby carpet coming up. We separated and went inside our rooms. When I opened the door my room smelled terrible. Mold, old smoke, dogs, I. Any day for sure. The beads looked neat, but there was dirt on the carpet. The ceiling had stains all over it, some looked fresh. The bathroom was disgusting. Aside from the hard water stains in all the fixtures, the the shower wall surround was cracked in multiple spots and taped with cellophane tape, the rest was no better. The sink gross. I wouldn’t even consider using it. The room was overall just dirty and smelly. My Mother and Aunt came in and told us that our room was much nicer than there’s. We checked there’s and it was even worse. My Aunt was already having an allergic reaction and needed her puffer. 
We returned to the office and my Mother and I went in. 
We told the Gentleman that the rooms were just too bad, and that the property was not at all what was shown on the booking site. I told him that my Aunt couldn’t breathe and that we were not going to be able to stay. 
He did the same mumbling thing and started saying something about having some suites that had been upgraded, but he couldn’t let us use them. At this point I told him that we had to leave, that there was no way we were going to stay at this property. He then said that he had some rooms in a building around the back. I told him we weren’t interested, and he told us” here’s the thing, we have the right to offer an upgrade or another option if the customer isn’t happy.” He then got up and told us to follow him out to the parking lot. My mother and I followed him, walking past our car with my Wife and Aunt in it. I kept repeating that we were not staying, but he kept motioning for us to follow him around behind the hotel. My mother, who is 80, and I decided to follow. As we went around the side of the hotel I realized that we were out of site of our car and just had a terrible feeling about what was happening. We finally made it to a point where we saw what looked like an old house. This was where he wanted us to go. Outside the house were 3 cars and bunch of people all hanging out together. I stopped and said that’s it. Turned and walked my Mother back towards our car. The guy came after us. The whole time telling me to come back and follow him. That we had to look at this option. It was getting scary. He wouldn’t stop and started getting closer, I literally had to scream at this guy to back off and leave us alone. Don’t get me wrong. He wasn’t physically aggressive, but he is extremely passively aggressive. I’m not a small guy, and I was really starting to worry. 
We got in the car and left to another Hotel, and just made it to our 4 pm Wedding. 
He also charged my Mothers credit card for 1 room.
There are other similar reviews, believe me, they are real. I would strongly advise that any other review is false. The County should not allow this business to operate. 


Believe the negative reviews, it’s worse then you could imagine

Was the only place available when i made a Reservation . Was confirmed through Expedia as well as manager  sending messages through Expedia. We were coming from 6 hrs away to see family. 
We had stayed here on another occasion a few yrs ago when it was a male manager it wasn't the Ritz but   website said had been renovated. 
Got to the motel at time specified through emai. 
Couldn't find a manager or anyone in the office  waited about 10 minutes and finally I started yelling hello  helloooooo anyone here.  A woman came out finally!! She looked very disheveled. I explained I made a reservation showed her confirmation and emails from manager.  Said nope don't have it.  I explained it was confirmed several times with Expedia and manager she insisted I didn't have a reservation even with my proof. I said look we just drove 6 hrs to get here.  She said don't take it out on me that was the manager who just got fired  and put in jail because she tried to kill me with a 2 by 4...I thought what the hell have we got ourselves into here.  She then said no worries I'll get you a room even if I put u in my own apartment.. good god WTH . Eventually she gave us a room  for 4 of us... Well it sure as hell wasn't the nicest but it was a room.  EVERYTHING ELSE IN TOWN WAS BOOKED. 
We.put our stuff in the room and then we discovered the sheets were  not even cleaned 🙄 😑 I asked her if we could get another pillow and sheets with a blanket  The room I had originally reserved was supposedly a king and queen bed suite.  This did have 2 beds but it was a queen and a double bed and a love seat.  Not very much room. The women said she would bring us everything and a blow up mattress 🙄  we left to go visit our family. When we got back to the motel she had never brought anything to the room.She was hangingoutwithpplin the roomnext to us so i askedher if we could possibly get the necessities we had asked for..she ended up bringing us pillow from her own apartment??? And said don't worry I'm clean.  Omfg ewe..
 There were a few ppl hanging around outside drinking. But we just were tired and wanted to make the best of a bad situation. The woman manager then knocked on the door about an hour later she was drunk and I am positive high.  She was trying to call me outside to talk to her she kept saying please come out here I need to talk to you.  I thought what is going on here?? I went out the door and she was telling me the cops were coming because they got Complaints about HER  Smoking pot,.drinking and doing drugs.  She asked me if one of us my daughter , myself or my 2 grandchildren could provide her with a pee sample so she could use.it for herself for a drug test so she would pee clean.  We wanted to leave right then but no other place was available.  I have never in my life experienced This kind of unacceptable behavior from a manager of a Motel !!So when I say run and keep on running I mean it.!!! Please save yourself  from this 🙏 horrible experience. Don't Stay here. This women needs professional help.  There is so much more I could write but you get the jisst of it...I've seen many things in my life but this one takes the cake. Never  I mean Never would I ever recommend this motel unless you want to be part of a horror flick 🤔

Run!!! Don't look back

We were travelling to Ottawa for a hockey game and wanted to get a hotel/motel closer to Kanata where the Ottawa Senators play. There was nothing available in Kanata at all but we found this little motel on the side of Hwy 7 in a little town called Carleton Place, which we had never heard of before. I had made the reservations on other hotel booking website.
I decided to spring the extra $ and get what was described as The Royal Suite, because it was twice as large as the other rooms (33m sq as opposed to 18m sq). 
When we arrived there was nobody in reception , but there was a sign saying to call for someone on a phone on the counter. I did and a woman appeared who was still in her house robe and said that she was just getting over the flu.
I registered with her and she gave me the key to our Royal Suite. It was room #208.
The room next to us had a dog that we never saw, but we sure did hear it as it barked and barked as we loaded our bags into the room and freshened up before heading out for dibber and to see the game.
The room was very spartan but had everything we needed, The TV worked fine, there was a mini fridge and the heater was working fine, though it was very loud.
The bathroom was very small and the light in it was very dim, my wife couldn't even use it to put her make-up on - she ended up opening the curtains and doing it on the window sill.
We headed out later and when we came back I couldn't find the room key. It turned out we had left the room unlocked with the key inside but everything was safe and untouched!!
I had a shower, my wife wanted to have a bath but there wasn't a plug for the drain. We settled in for a sleep and that's when the dog started howling. It was very loud and went on for about 40 minutes - luckily we were watching a Netflix movie, so by the time it was over the dog had stopped.  It was a nice quiet sleep after that.
The room was very clean except for what looked like salt stains off in one corner and the sheets, towels and blankets were very clean and sanitized.
The room could've used some TLC as it looked like someone had punched one of the walls. The heater was very noisy and I had to unplug it so I could fall asleep but we could not hear the traffic from the road at all.
When we left - we just had to drop off the ket at the front reception. Thats when I saw a big sign outside saying that they supported the Convoy 2022. I hadn't seen that before - it meant that they supported the rude, arrogant truckers that terrorized the citizens of Ottawa for a few weeks. If I had known that beforehand, we would have cancelled our reservations.
Stay here if you're looking for a room under $100 and aren't too fussy about the decor. Hopefully the howling dog won't keep you awake either.

Very Clean Rooms - Nice And Quiet After The Dog Stopped Howling!

August 2021.  Everything else was booked for my date so I took a chance based on the photos.  Maybe there is ONE upgraded room but most are gross.  My room smelled of stale cigarettes, although smoking is not allowed.  Maybe it was just imbedded in the gross bed coverings from 1990 and carpets. I put towels on the bed because I didn't want to sit on the bed cover. after my shower. I stayed 1 night and I had to wash everything once I got home because they smelled of cigarettes.  The place was clean (enough) but so old and dingy.  Some new furniture, some old.  Gross ceiling needed paint.  Door and trim all hacked up.  The 'clientele' were a little sketchy too; nice enough I suppose but sitting outside drinking, smoking and leering.  Ugh.....   I should have RUN when the front desk clerk (no mask) said "It's much better now that we've gotten rid of the addicts".  OMG.....   I saw another post "Should of stayed in my car".  I agree.  If it wasn't a 5 hour drive home and 9 PM, I would have just gone home. It was on Hwy 7, near a VERY small town.  And $110!

Lobby door looked someone had kicked the glass, Lobby was ok, young lady (pleasant) walked in to serve us in her PAJAMAS !! sent us to our room in the back, we drove around and it looked like the slums. looks like ppl are living back there. Not very clean, no matress pad , no smoke detector. The property is pretty bad, we asked for our money back and left. Basically with the characters that were out there smoking and hanging out it looked more like a rent by the hour place , plus we were afraid of being killed in the night. Sorry.

The check in attendant has 0 customer service. The room was absolutely disgusting. It wasn't cleaned at all - crumbs in the bed, crumbs on the table, hair in the sink, urine on the toilet seat, dried liquid substances on surfaces, squished dead insects in the ceiling and walls...I could go on. There was no fire detector in our room either - I'd presume this is illegal. I've stayed in some budget friendly places and they still clean the place, and provide a comfortable and safe living space. This is more rent by the hour quality. Just yuk.

Should of Stayed In My Car

We booked this for an overnight while going to a wedding at Stonefields in Carleton Place.  We were very leery when we pulled into the parking lot.  Building is in very rough shape, but we had booked based on the website stating newly renovated.  We were given a non-renovated room (203) initially but when we stated that was unacceptable (the bathroom had mold and the room smelled like everything had just been bleached) we were upgraded to a renovated Jr. Suite.  This room was great, very comfortable beds, nice shower (although the bathroom is very small for the size of the room and no hair dryer!)  We checked in, showered and left.  Returned to sleep and checked out in the morning. Temperature control was outside the 3 rooms - didn't find it until the morning. Clerk at the desk was very helpful as she knew we were not pleased with the first room we were given.

Needs Work

The hotel is a good location along HWY 7.  Plenty of parking and clean rooms with some modern touches. Lots of USB ports etc.  The beds were ok. Pretty standard fare in that regard.  

The rooms have been somewhat modernized. They do need better carpeting.  This is super thin.  Not much in the way of sound proofing in the rooms either.

I will say the shower pressure was quite good mind you.

Check in was slow. Very thorough.  Too much so.  We were pretty clear on how a door lock works.  Good attention to detail I suppose.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced place, this will do.  Nothing special but nothing super glaring either.

I do however highly suggest they replace the roof. That should have been done a long time ago.

The room was ok. Nice size and clean.  - Needs some work around the property though.

I was impressed with this Motel. Do not be fooled by the look of it outside, the rooms inside are very clean, comfortable bed with very good white crips quality linen and pillows. Windows in the back of our room opened onto quiet green field, and opening front window allowed a nice cool draft. It is obvious this hotel is privately owned and cared for. No restaurant attached but within walking distance to other outlets. I would definitely stay here again - price quality is excellent. Staff on the phone was extremely courteous.
