We enjoyed our one night stay. The room was fully equipped with fridge, microwave, stove and oven.  Had we known we would certainly have taken advantage.

The bed was super comfortable. 

Breakfast was included and exceeded our expectations.   Bagels, scrambled eggs, sausage, juice, coffee.

No complaints!

Checked for one night.  Room was ok, but .... bathroom could have been cleaned better.  You could smell faint urine. and there was no shower.
The air conditioning unit worked but you could smell mold in it.
window ledge was full of dirt and dust.  
Fridge had spots of mold in it.
The halls need better ventilation, they were stuffy.
You can see it was updated a while ago.  If it were cleaned better it would have been a better stay.

Needs improvment

We stayed one night at the Western Star Inn and Suites. Thanks to Preet for the great customer service! Our room was large and had a full kitchen including a stove! They have a self serve laundry and they stored our bikes for us. Even during COVID restrictions Preet provided a hot breakfast that we took to our room. When our tv didn’t work, she brought a new one and hooked it up. She was truly a one woman show!! There are other options in Carlyle but be sure you choose the Western Star!

Great place to stay!

Usually stay at this hotel as it has been decent.. but not this time. we checked in on Saturday Aug. 1 for a 3 night stay... only to find blood in the sheets, blankets, everything. I informed a housekeeper of this problem and was told It would be taken care of.. HA. my room was never touched in the slightest. no bedding change to remove the blood stained bedding, no fresh towels, no care at all. I understand this pandemic is scary, but good lord.. this is not how I expected to be taken care of while away from my home... disappointed is an understatement. I called the front desk at 9 a.m. to again address my concerns as the housekeeping did not fulfill my complaints, and I was told there was "no housekeeping working my entire stay" confused, I asked who the lady was who was vacuuming then. I was basically made a liar. The "supervisor" told me she would reimburse me one night stay at $106 plus tax all I had to do was go down to front desk at checkout. So I went down to checkout at 10:30 a.m. and was informed I would not be receiving any compensation pay like I was originally told just an hour and a half prior. I was disgusted with this hotel and how they shamed their guests. It's absolutely disgusting. If my children and I get sick from those bloody sheets, I will be pressing charges! I worked at Ramada in the town, and I can honestly say if a guest complained of anything, we would do whatever we could to not lose this guest. But I guess Western Star has a bad rep for doing this. Will not stay here again!!

Disgusting!!

The overall stay was pretty good but a few things could be improved for instance the venting from the breakfast room was poor. We could smell breakfast cooking  at 4am. Our duvet and sheets were queen size and our bed was a king. Our stay was two days and our bed was not made up for the second day. The beds are quite soft for us but that’s a personal preference only. 

Decent hotel

We spent four nights at the Western Star in Carlyle, SK and enjoyed our stay. The hotel caters to many of the workers in the Oil and gas industry which means that the hotel is basically empty during the day. The staff works hard in keeping it clean and we especially enjoyed the breakfast each morning. I will say that they offer the most comfortable beds of any hotel I’ve stayed it. Bring your checkbook along as they actually had Queen and King mattresses offerd for sale!

Most Comfortable Bed in Carlyle

Hotel cleanliness is a thing of the past.  The breakfast was hot and sufficient.  The staff had unplugged everything so we had to troubleshoot the cable, TV, and all the lights.  This is a little extreme.  The hallways could be much cleaner.

Does the job

My girlfriend and I are from Winnipeg and went backcountry camping in Grasslands National park, so we spent the night at this hotel both on the drive out and on the way back home to make the drive easier.

The main points of improvement needed are the cleanliness of the pots, pans and dishes in the full kitchen suites and accurate advertising of the suites available. To extend on this last point, I booked a King suite online which was advertised as having a full kitchen, but when we arrived and checked in we discovered that the suite only had a microwave and a fridge. The staff were very good about finding us a new room with a full kitchen as well as discounting said room.

Otherwise, the place is pretty good. Walls are thick enough that you don’t overhear guests in other rooms, everything we needed in the kitchen worked well, the full kitchen suites are very well stocked with just about anything you could ever need. Beds and linen are comfortable and it’s a great location, literally just off the highway. Staff are friendly and helpful too!

Improvement needed, but meets requirements

We chose the Western Star Inn & Suites as our home away from home during the family reunion in Carlyle Sask. June 30-July 1.  The room was very appealing. The bed was a bit high to get into but very comfortable.  I forgot my down filled pillow and hope that my cousin was able
