My friend and I checked into this hotel and I started to get very congested and red eyes and coughing. I went in the bathroom and there was BLACK MOLD all over the bathroom wall. I took a towel and easily wiped a spot off.! It obviously hadn’t been occupied or cleaned for a long time. Earlier that day we had stopped to ask if it was possible to check in two hours early as it was  pouring rain and could not partake in any trails etc along the Cabot Trail. The lady at the desk said “I might have a key, or I may not”!!!! Not sure what that meant. So we sat in my car for two hours before we went back to check in. As I stated before there obviously hadn’t been anyone in that room for awhile. There were three other vehicles parked at various rooms at the whole complex. The coffee maker didn’t work, the tiny tv didn’t have any reception and the tub was cracked with gas ns of caulking. Anyway, I went back to the desk and showed them pictures of the mold and they called the owner over who offered another room or a refund. We took the refund. There wasn’t any kind of explanation or apologies. Nothing!  We ended up driving 51/2 hours home in the rain and dark. They would not refund me the $15.99 fee and said we had to contact the reservation desk for that. This hotel made me physically sick and ruined the last night and day our vacation . DISGUSTING motel and terrible customer service!

Very nice motel, with comfortable beds, easy parking in front of room and delcious food in the restaurant. Loved that our labrador was allowed and there was lots of space to let her run around in the back field. Very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome.

Friendly staff and great location

Decent cottages and hotel tucked away in a small town called Pleasant Bay.  We were traveling the Cabot Trail and it was a long and scenic road/route.  We decided to stay here for the night and get an early start on the journey.  The room was cozy and convenient and they had an adjoining restaurant.  All in all, a pleasant stay in Pleasant Bay.

After a 100 mile ride the previous two days, this was a welcome sight.  Very pleasant desk staff (who also doubled as our waitress).  We were in one of the cabins.
This place will not challenge the Ritz anytime soon.  But it was perfectly fine.  We needed shelter, a/c, showers, place to store our bikes and charge our batteries.  Room slept 3.  A bit tattered and old; could use a facelift but with the decline in tourism due to misguided Covid policies continuing even now....that may not be forthcoming.  Despite the room issues, it was clean, clean sheets and bedclothes; pull out bed was only usable because our third person was about 5 feet tall.  Included a kitchenette but we didn't use it.  Shower did the trick but wasn't the best I've ever been in, although there was plenty of hot water.  We found restaurant adequate; will be reviewed separately.  Lamp in bedroom had an outlet and USB outlets, welcome for us as we had all sorts of Ebike batteries, bike lights, power packs, etc to charge.

average rating should not construe "bad".  Was just average.

We got a cottage unit with a bed and a pull out bed because one of us snores and we need separate beds to sleep well. The Pull out was a love seat with a child sized sleep sufac e...max 4.5 ft long. This was not clear in the description online. The manager offered us an alternative of a cottage with a normal sized leather couch. This was all they had left so we took it. We both slept terribly because of the one on the couch up half the night and the other waking up. We were bagged the next day and did not enjoy our sightseeing. My advice: don't trust what you see on the site. Call and ask questions if you need 2 beds. Otherwise the cottage was clean and met our needs.  Bring a sleep mask as there is alot of light coming from the porch lights  which also kept us up.

2 beds but not as advertised! 

This motel is very outdated, it needs a serious upgrade including fixing wallpaper falling off walks, refrigerator in room and new furniture. Nice location but is very neglected. The food in the restaurant was ok.

The experience for friends & I was strictly for the dining room & entertainment.
It was fabulous; food was awesome & friendly staff. Added flavour was the soloist & guitar player singer/songwriter Glen; very entertaining & engaging. The evening was more than enjoyable. Met the owner Lorna  & she too was happy with the outcome of her tourist season to date. May the Mountain View continue to have a high rate of bookings.   

A great experience, shall be returning.

Nothing against DIY - but some of the 'workmanship' in the bathroom very 'home-made' quality.

No coffee maker - correct, it is not listed as an 'amenity' ... send email about it prior to visit with no reply  (so brought my own)

We booked a cottage with 2 rooms. The beds were lumpy and very uncomfortable.  Did not sleep. The toilet and shower are to low. If you are above 5'6 you will have a difficult time. The chalet is dated but that is to be expected at this price point.  The breakfast was sub-par and coffee was watery.

Worst bed on the cabot trail 

We had a wonderful two night stay in a cozy one bedroom cabin.  It had a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable padded chairs on the deck.  The location is amazing, so quiet and surrounded by mountains.  Also, it is very close to the ocean.  We enjoyed dinner both nights at the on site restaurant, complete with entertainment!  The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
