Wells Gray Guest Ranch is the most wonderfull and authentic place for a holliday in West Canada. We were my husband and me and had 3 days at the Ranch during our roundtrip in West Canada. The family is so helpfull and nice people. We were at horseback riding in the forest a butifull and quite tour in the fantastic nature surrounded the Ranch. The Rooms are lovely, there is a kitchen and it is possible to by dinner from frost at the Ranch. Everything is made of wood and is absolutely fantastic. The wiew from the terrasse is overlooking the horses and cows running and playing at the field. A nice breakfast is included and it is possible to book dinner too. We were at a couple of hikingtours to a fantastic Waterfall and we saw a blackbear with 2cups. We will absolutely recommend this place for your next trip to Clearwater. Absolutely the best authentical place for a stay in West Canada

This property is based in the most beautiful setting and provides very comfortable and clean accommodation. 
It's website however needs updating, as it does not offer some of the activities mentioned. It no longer offers the canoeing or guided hikes anymore, for instance.
It is not the "Wild West" experience you may be expecting and you will not see any cowboys! The proprietor and most of the staff are Swiss. 
In the "Saloon" the bar, whilst advertised as open until 9:30pm, shuts promptly at 9, and the atmosphere is pretty dull. 
The horse riding is nice, but caters mainly for beginners, but the scenery and mountain trails make up for this.
The restaurant food is very basic but continental breakfasts are good. 

Great as a base for visiting all the attractions in Wells Gray National Park. Wonderful to be able sit and watch the stars at night (with no light pollution) and listen to the sounds from the nearby forests !
 

Not a "Wild West" ranch, but a beautiful location.

Stayed in a deluxe log cabin for 2 nights in September 2023. Lovely cabins - 2 Queen beds and a futon, small kitchen area with sink, 2 gas rings, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge, ensuite shower/toilet. TV for watching blue ray discs available from reception. Clean and comfortable. Seats outside on the shared porch overlooking the paddock with horses and cattle. Breakfast was additional - cereals, fruit/yoghurt,  toast/bread, tea and coffee. Simple but tasty and plentiful.  Good value. Dinner is also available in the Black Horse Saloon on site. The night we ate was a salad followed by bbq pulled pork with bread, coleslaw and fries. Delicious. There are frozen homecooked dinners available also. There's a bar with a selection of alcoholic drinks and sodas. Excellent location for visiting Wells Gray Provincial Park. We'll worth visiting Bailey Chute for the leaping salmon at this time of year, Helmcken and Spahat Falls. They didn't have horseriding availability during our stay so we went to Vavenby Trail Rides (40 minutes away). Daniel and Elvira run a lovely place. All staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time and wouldn't hesitate in recommending

Lovely place in amazing location

Wells Gray is a wonderful place to stay! We stayed in one of the cabins. The view is amazing: horses and scottish higlanders in a great green meadow. The owners and staff are kind and helpful in every way. You feel welcome. My daughter eats vegan and the owners were very flexible in adapting the meal for her. In the natural surroundings we could relax. We also did the horseride.  Our guide was professional and nice. The welfare of the horses and other animals on the ranch is a priority. We would have loved to stay a little bit more at this peaceful and authentic place!

A beautiful and natural place and very nice owners and staff

The Wells Gray ranch was an excellent experience all round and made for a great base to explore the park properly. We stayed in a log cabin which was a first for the kids and I, the one negative about the adjoining log cabins is that noise does travel through the walls but we were so tired from exploring that it didn't stop us getting some sleep.

There are benches to eat outside but bring insect repellent as there are plenty flying around.

We enjoyed petting and feeding the horses in the back field too

We are once in the restaurant itself, a chilli, it was absolutely fine and the service was friendly and efficient

We had travelled around a lot of the west of Canada on this trip and this was my favourite place we stayed 


A great base for exploring Wells Gray 

Visit the ranch with RV in September 2022. Very nice place. Clean and with lovely surroundings. Owners and staff so helpfull in any ways. We had a couple of days at the ranch and we would have loved to stay there longer. Did also horse riding - best time . Can only recommend this place.

Authentic and absolute perfect

What an amazing place. Waking up in the morning only to hear the Scottisch highlanders, horses and nothing but the wind is amazing. See dears, bears, hummingbirds and a lot of other animals. Great food, nice people and a real nice place to stay. The rooms are cozy but more than enough. A hidden gem.

Hidden gem, although not so hidden 😉

Wells Gray Guest Ranch was a lunch spot I had the opportunity to enjoy while on a 5-day tour of the Canadian Rockies.  As a vegetarian, I never get my hopes up for a great dining experience as most food locations generally cater to omnivores, and I expected this to be a stronger possibility at a Dude Ranch!  Wow! I was pleasantly surprised!

Upon arrival it was fun to see that the rustic, old west setting was very authentic.  We were seated outside on picnic tables built into the inside of covered wagons.  The menu included a salad, chili, rice, cornbread, and chocolate cake for dessert.   The only drink offered with the meal was water, however tea, soft drinks, and beer were available for purchase.  The overall quality of the food was excellent.  The salad was crisp and tasted as if the ingredients were freshly picked from garden.  There was a vegetarian chili offered which was fantastic!  This may be the best veggie chili that I have ever tasted.  Michel, the cook, was a pleasure to talk with; he was passionate about his dishes, which he shared are all created from scratch.  The only adverse comment that I can share about the food is that the cornbread portion could have been a bit larger, even though I truly did not need it as I was quite full at the end of the meal.

The location is very clean (to include the bathroom), the staff efficiently removed dishes and glasses from the tables throughout the different courses.  At the end of my meal, the owner shared prints of Wild Bill Hickok and the famous Apache Chief Geronimo that hang on the walls of the indoor dining area.

This is a great location for everyone, individuals, couples, and families will all enjoy the atmosphere and the food.  I highly recommend this location as a fun, tasty dining location for all.

Vegetarian Dining at a Dude Ranch!

We didn't spend the night here, but we booked a horseback riding tour. All staff were very friendly and our guide was very professional. The tour itself went past beautiful trails, and the horses were sweet and well-trained. Even for beginners like us, it was easy to get comfortable with the horses and enjoy the ride.

Wonderful!

I booked a 2 hour ride for myself and my teenage daughter and her boyfriend.  The owners Daniel and Elvira are very friendly, professional and show a great deal of respect and care for their animals.  The horse I was riding was originally a rescue horse that Elvira brought into her care and at the time was skin and bones.  This was a very beautiful, gentle, loving horse and took me on a fabulous ride.  The other horses were also so beautiful and taken very good care of.  Our wrangler was Marina and she took her job very responsibility. She made sure everyone was riding to their ability and enjoying themselves.  The trail was through the forest and was very peaceful.  A couple of steep spots that we had to ride down, but you just have to trust your horse that they know where they want to step to get you down safely.  The kids really enjoyed it, especially at the end giving their horse some treats and being able to pet them and take pictures.  Super cool place and would definitely go back.  Thank you Daniel, Elvira and Marina!!!!!!
