Tricky place to review. Some aspects very good, some very poor.
The ranch is set in the most beautiful setting. The balcony gives you good views over the countryside. It is great for access to the park.
Our room was comfortable, the bedding clean but the room and bathroom not clean. The decking outside was broken and some areas very fragile.
The room had  a fridge but no kettle, it had a coffee maker but no coffee or cups.
Dinner is brought in by an external company. The food is good but very expensive 45 dollars each. It all comes in polystyrene containers. For wilderness living there was no evidence of trying to reduce single use plastics, cutlery at supper was plastic. 
Breakfast was absolutely delicious, the best we have had on our travels. The most wonderful home made pancakes/ eggs and bacon. Full marks for the food, but again in polystyrene containers! 
The owner was friendly and obviously very busy running a farm/ accommodation.  
We enjoyed our stay but felt accommodation needed investment.

Idyllic setting, in Wells Grey park

The location is in nature, the closest village is 30 km far.
The owner is very kind, the bungalow is very simple, with no television set.
The dinner comes as catering but is good, very good.
The fornuture dated, the bed are at first floor and toileyes ground floor.
It is in the midlle of nature, that is good.

We are very disappointed, appalled and angry. We booked for 2 days but we left after a few hours. We were driving our car in the morning into the parking lot of the ranch, which looked bad maintained, and the owner came at us, and was asking what we were doing. We said, Hi we are staying at your ranch! He said, you are WAAAY to early for checking in. We knew that and we said sorry which we did not have to and we were not expecting to check in only do some hiking in the Area already. He did not welcome us in any way and hè was only irritated that we were early so we left to go somewhere Else to Hike. When we came back at 6pm to check in a woman gave us the lock (because the Doors cant be locked with a key) without saying anything About how it works, and was very distant and did not welcome us. After we went into the room (where there was a very weird smell) we found the source: it was a dead mouse in the toilet which we saw has been in there for quite a while so we asked the lady if she maybe could clean it up (since flushing it was not gonna do anything Good) and maybe give us another room because of the smell. She only said that the owner will be back in 10 minutes so she could not do anything. We went to eat in Clear water and when we came back the mouse was gone. We then asked the owner if we could maybe have another room but hè had no rooms that were ready. We then asked if we could pet some animals or see them because it was a ranch and since we were not welcomed or treated nicely at all we wanted to see and maybe pet some animals. I asked if I could pet their horses,  I am a veterinary student so i know a lot About the animals, but I could not get even near the horses because they were 100.000 dollars and thoroughbreds. I said that I know these kind of horses and I also work with them, but still I could not go near them nor pet them because I could give them diseases(???) These horses were btw staying in an very wet muddy land and an old shed. He said I could pet the horses of the neighbours which according to him were only “2.500” dollars so I could. He laughed at me and said that its not a zoo, and you cant pet animals in a zoo…. He was very disrespectful and unfriendly to us and we were so super excited to come to his ranch because we Stayed at other wonderful ranches before and we were so disappointed how hè treated us. We then decided that we did not feel very Good and we wanted to maybe leave so we wanted to tell him that, hè only said: oké, leave the key in the door. And he closed the door in our face. Not even asking what was wrong or of hè could do anything, or talking to us or even a refund? There was no conversation possible with this man and hè treated us with zero respect. The ambience was very distant and very cold, nothing you would expect from a local ranch. This is not the way you treat people. Very bad maintained and dirty. We went to another hotel that night.

Horror

We stayed at the Wilderness House which had stunning views over the ranchland.  Sitting on the deck or through the many windows we were able to observe cranes, hawks, eagles, ravens, bears, deer, coyotes and cattle.  The Wilderness House was a delight, very comfortable and well-equipped.  We twice ate at Nakiska where Lars and Aida looked after us very well and the food was absolutely delicious.  The ranch also has a bbq area with picnic tables so that several families could eat together if they wanted to.  There is also lots of space for children to run around. The ranch is a perfect location for exploring Wells Gray.  We would definitely return.

The cabin was cozy, clean and the beds were so comfortable  The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming.  The views were excellent and the hiking and snowshoeing trails were just minutes away.  Definitely will be back! 

Fabulous time at the ranch!

We were there when some COVID restrictions were still in place, so there was no breakfast available - no food of any kind. The cabins are cute, with a little deck for eating or reading, and a view of cows. The beds are the tiniest I have ever seen - very narrow singles. The bedding was minimal- no cover sheet, only a comforter and one pillow. The two bath towels were tiny too and thin. A little fridge but no coffee maker or any other amenities.

It was a sincere pleasure to spend time at Nakiska Ranch on our recent holiday.  Unfortunately, issues with the Coronavirus prevented the kind of contact we would have liked with our hosts, but we understood the need for distance completely.  We enjoyed two beautiful nights in one of the self contained cabins and enjoyed the natural surroundings of the ranch very much.  Everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay was in place.  Very comfortable bed and full kitchen with all of the cooking supplies we needed.  We found the cost of our stay reasonable for what we were given.  We would definitely come back again and will probably do so as there is just so much to enjoy in the Wells Gray Provincial Park.  We only just touched the surface during our stay at Nakiska.  Thank you for a pleasant place to stay during our travels.  Lovely time and highly recommend.

I booked this ranch in January, with a credit card no. as deposit.
when the Covid crisis hit I cancelled , but have just been charged the full price of the accommodation with no refund. 
When I contacted them they denied any cancellation and said they had e mailed for confirmation in July, which I did not receive. 
the UK Gov advice was not to go and they had no confirmation, so there was no reason to take the full cost

Our choices were limited due to traveling with our dog.

Reservations were confirmed over the phone as I did not receive a confirmation email. Owner met us after a late check-in.

I wouldn't describe him as cold nor friendly. Just a matter of fact. He gave us a key but then mentioned that there were no locks on any of the doors! He said that guns were a better deterrent if he had intruders (shame we didn't have any though).

The place was relatively clean but a ton of cobwebs on the front door and ceiling. Not exactly inviting and doesn't instill confidence in the current climate. Fridge was barely cold and he did describe their internet as s*#t, which I'll agree.
