We brought our family and dog for a last minute trip. Once we saw the newly renovated cottage we knew this place was a hidden gem. The work they did is insane for a house, let alone a rental. Wonderfully done. The work that I see them doing to the property it showing much progress and we will definitely be back!

Great cottages and wonderful owners!

We booked at the last minute and despite the fact that the place is a rather decaying trailer site, the cottages look good, have been renovated and are clean. Holiday home atmosphere, friendly but not very intimate. There is a swimming pool on site but not in use. However, a few steps away with the available boats and kayaks, there is a beach and very clear water for swimming. You have to bring almost everything because the cottages have the strict minimum. The beds are queen size and we have brought doubles. BBQ and foyer gas on the terrace, with adequate outdoor chalet furniture. On the contrary, on the safe side, there is no fire or smoke detection in the cottages. For this, we have a very good and friendly property.

This place is not a resort, it is a trailer park. Upon arrival at this property we were immediately shocked by the rows upon rows of trailers. None of the activities listed on the site are actually there. There is NO beach, the pool was not open, there are NO tennis courts, there is no swimming access, and the conditions are deplorable.

We booked the the long weekend and left immediately upon viewing the dump. The owners charged us for the stay anyway and booking.com did not provide any support   in helping us with a refund of credit.

This place should be shut down.

Owner was good, gave us all the information needed and helped us find some good places around. Also shared the history of the cottages and the places around.

Would definitely go again next year.....rent a newly renovated cottage..

A good place for cottage rentals and trailer park

We reserved cottage 9 for labour day weekend 4-5-6 Sep 2020.
We arrived Friday night around 530 pm after a long day on our motorcycles. We are a firefighter/EMS & military club, we were looking forward to a well deserved nice weekend at this resort.
We were greeted by the owner Stefan who brought  us over to cottage 9. To our dismay the outside of the cottage looked terrible, Facia was all rotten, green mildew on siding, no fire pit or driveway. We had to park on the grass. We then ventured inside...well the inside smelled mildew, there were mouse droppings in the cupboards amongst the dishes, black fur hair balls on the floor. The supposedly new matresses had mattress covers and obviously were never cleaned, dirt and pubic hair on them. We lifted the mattress and a silver fish scurried away. The bathroom was out of this world, the floor was rotten and shower pathetic, dirty and full of  mildew inside. There is no way anyone could walk in there without their shoes or boots.
Spider webs everywhere, obviously not cleaned, floor dirty and grime everywhere.
As a result, we consulted with each other and all agreed to not stay. I called the owner back and explained everything to him, I took him inside to show him and told him it was unacceptable to rent a place like that. I asked for a refund and he agreed to reimburse us 2/3 of the price but then turned around and added $50 surcharge????
We had to scramble to find hotel for Friday night and ended up in Belleville for the remainder of weekend as that was the only location with rooms.
I decided to call him back and request a full refund considering the state of the cottage. I advised him that we would contact the health unit to report this especially during this Covid 19 era.
His responded by yelling, saying he knew from the start that we weren’t gonna take it and that this is not Quebec and the Health unit doesn’t care. He continued to yell saying all we had to do is look at the pictures and do our research before booking. He refused to refund us and hung up on me!

I guess he assumed we were from Quebec because I have a French name, we are all from Ontario and all our vehicles had Ontario plates!
It really demonstrates what kind of person he is, not only is he a slob but he is prejudice.

extremely dirty, should be closed down

We booked cottage 8 for the weekend starting Aug28/20 till Mon sept 1/20, needles to say upon our arrival we were surprised by the dump this resort is,old buildings falling apart, docks that you cant walk on, landscaping non existent , pool had a dirt ring 5 years old, our rebuild cottage was filthy, spider webs, dead mosquitoes squashed on the walls with blood stains, when you flushed the washroom it flooded piss onto the floor, hair balls under the couch and beds dirt everywhere, BBQ FILTHY, our granddaughter went for a nap came out 3 hours later with bed bug bites on her legs  
, boat was supposed to be ready but steve said give me couple of hours and it never got done, we came at 2pm left at 10pm would of left early if granddaughter did not nap, do not waste any money here, its a trailer park ghetto with lots of drunks, FALSE ADVERTISING 100% no covid 19 cleaning after last guests, will report this place to health services and for fraud, when you see the sign STONEBURG COVE RESORT RUN RUN RUN and don’t look back, place is a scam.

We stayed for 6 nights in one of the newly renovated cottages - which had a full kitchen and everything you would need for a comfortable stay.  Our hosts were lovely and very accommodating.  We were able to rent kayaks and canoes and launch from the property - a great way to get to a little island near by that has an awesome beach!  They also have an in ground pool which we took advantage of thoroughly 😁 Very nice quiet, family oriented trailer/cottage park.  We are already looking to go back!! I have a ton of pics but for some reason the only ones that will upload are the ones below.

Great place to stay to relax and unwind!

Nice people all around, but not the scene we were expecting.  Owner seems to blame customers who write here, but the facts are the facts:  

* Priced and advertised as a cottage-resort, but in a trailer park and full of trailers pulling boats and trailers through - not particularly quiet or scenic or private.  
* Internet was not working although it was promised and we asked for help during our stay - owner ignored our requests for help; 
* No movies or other services that could come with connectivity so we did the family puzzle night with puzzles we brought;
* Kayaks were indeed for rent and were the basic cheapest type without whistles or safety kit like first-aid.  This was a problem as owner directions were vague no map was supplied, and the Bay can be dangerous; our day out turned in to an endurance challenge which is no fun for a heart-patient and required a power-boat pickup that could have easily been avoided;
* pool sides are dirt-stained; some buildings and docks are crumbling; 
* Nothing was supplied - toilet paper, linens, towels, washcloths, dish soap, we were expected to bring everything - but rates were charged for a much nicer property;
* AC on ground floor did not reach or effectively cool the upper floor, meaning we had our kids sleeping on the kitchen floor because the upstairs was too hot.  

In the end this was nicer camping of a kind, which we would have been fine with had we paid for and expected that.

Misleading ad, this is a trailer park rather than a quiet resort

We stayed in cottage #11 for 4-nights/5-days and had a marvelous time. Owners, Stefan and Ricky, could not have been more friendly, kind or obliging. We arrived far earlier than we were permitted. In fact, the cleaning team were in the midst of cleaning up after the previous guests. Since we had food that required refrigeration and the previous guests had long vacated, Stefan and Ricky welcomed us early, which we greatly appreciated.

This is a family owned vacation business. The name (often commented upon by previous guests) is unfortunate. As the owners are quick to point out, Stoneburg Cove is NOT a resort in the true sense of the word. It is a fun, easy-going vacation spot on the lake that offers cottages and parking for trailers. Our cottage (#11) was newly renovated, absolutely charming, slept 6-people and had a cute front porch with nice bbq, table and umbrella. Our cottage provided towels, bed linens and many other conveniences often not provided in similar accommodations. The price.........SO reasonable. Other occupants at this vacation spot were friendly but not loud or intrusive. I recommend Stoneburg Cove Resort without hesitation or conditions. We hope to return next year.

Fun, economical and perfectly located

We had a lovely time at Stoneburg.  Steffen and Ricky were excellent hosts.  The cabins are renovated and comfortable.   Air conditioning, all the kitchen supplies were brand new and lots of utensils and good knives!  Kids loved playing basketball, and kayaking.  Looking for frogs, biking around the area  Great trails nearby for biking.  It was great because we could bring the dog along too!!  Its about a 40 min car ride to Sandbanks.  Lots of cute towns to visit too, as well as lots of fabulous wineries.
