Small, nice rooms with a workspace.  Good shower and WiFi.  Convenient to downtown Dawson City and many local attractions and restaurants.  Right across the street from the Yukon River.  I would stay here again.

A good base camp

After a couple of weeks of camping, The Bunkhouse was an affordable vision of loveliness: small tidy rooms with one or two beds, a desk, a stool, and a window with a chair outside on the lengthy porch. Shared bathroom facilities (separate toilets and showers) were immaculate, and the neverending pot of coffee (and kettle for us tea grannies) at reception was greatly appreciated. There is a small shared kitchen with a fridge, microwave and sink for washing dishes, and outside there’s a gas BBQ and a couple of picnic tables where we enjoyed a meal and met some new friends. The owner is personable, approachable and attentive—we’re delighted that he created this purpose-built accommodation in Dawson City. One block to the river and just off the main drag, it’s well located to walk everywhere in town. Highly recommended.

Simple, affordable digs in Dawson City

I stayed here after riding the Dempster highway. Clean and luxurious  room, shared bathroom which were clean and tidy, right in town so could walk every where, no laundry which was not problem, you could walk to near by laundromat

Enjoyed our stay at the Bunkhouse.  4 if us in on room.  Enough room for all of us.  Fans for cooling down if warranted.  Coffee maker.  Free parking.  Front desk was friendly and very helpful.  Loved the no key required doors!

Dawson City family vacation

We booked a room fit for 3 with a private bathroom. Upon entry, the room is cramped. No space to move around, elbows always hit something.

I love the keycode entry instead of cards. Good location downtown. Desk fans are available for ventilation. But the pros end there.

Cleaning is very sparse. There is a dust buildup everywhere as soon as we went in. We had to clean the room ourselves. Dust was ccumulating on the blinds. Staff did not change towels even though they were on the floor. We had to phone in the manager for them. Microwave is not available in the room considering how cramped the room is. Had to phone in the manager to open the lobby for it. So food heating is not readily accessible.

I would pick a different hotel next time. This is not really family-friendly, this is somewhat oriented to younger clientele like a hostel.

Surprisingly lower quality of stay than the other hotels

Loved this interesting place!  Central location, we walked everywhere in town.  Basic accomodation reminded me of youth hostels in Europe.  Interesting  co-ed bathrooms,  room had a bed, small table  a  wall lamp  and wooden chair.  No phone  TV, wifi.  Interesting travellers to meet!  Basic clean accomodation.  Recommend  to ask for ground floor if stairs are an issue!



Hostel style!

Basic accommodation at a reasonable price.  The rooms are minimal but clean and comfortable.  I was apprehensive about the shared bath facilities, but there were private stalls for both toilets and showers, and guests were congenial and respected each other's privacy.  The Bunkhouse is centrally located so everywhere is walkable, with groceries, sandwiches, pizza, etc just across the street at Bonanza Market.  I would definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay in Dawson

I stayed here on a trip to Dawson City in late August 2019.  As a solo traveller I chose the shared bathroom/shower option which is basic but very good value for the money.  I didn't have to wait for either the shower or bathroom during my stay.  The free coffee that they offer in the office starting at 7 a.m. was much appreciated, and the staff was very friendly.  I would stay here again.

2 night stay

I picked this place for budget reasons and was not disappointed. In terms of price it would be expensive anywhere in the South but for the north it is reasonable. The rooms are small and tight but clean and homey. The bedding was nice and warm. The room could get stuffy tho. Also while I knew I would have to share bathrooms I failed to note that the walk to them would be outdoors, so that was a bit of a surprise haha. But still fine. Plenty of hot water and never had to wait for a toilet or shower. The toilets are very tight / snug however. WiFi was fine for video communication. Reception was nice and helpful and they have free tea and coffee there. Location was excellent. Dawson is a very walkable town but the hotel was still in an excellent location. Only minuses of now for me: rooms have thin walls, you will hear all your neighbours and the highway traffic so if you could get rooms on the side away from the hwy I would. 

Good deal

If you're looking for an easy, clean, affordable option in Dawson, this is an excellent option! The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, rooms are spotless and it's a perfect location in town. Bathrooms are shared, but they are very clean and never an issue of privacy. I would 100% recommend a stay here! (Head next door to Bombay Peggy's for a drink before bed!)
