We came to the Red Umbrella Inn back in May of this year to see how this Inn would be with my 98 year old mom with a walker and my 95 year old dad with a few walking issues. While in May we found the Red Umbrella Inn to be very level for walking but not so much for getting to the dock for a pontoon boat that we rented. The Red Umbrella Inn has about 15 stairs and a ramp to get to the dock and it's very well maintained. Luckily the marina just down the road allowed us to load and unload my parents when needed and they were very accommodating when it came to any of our needs. 

The red Umbrellas accommodations are lovely. we stayed in the executive cottage # 7 and it suited our needs very well. Fresh towels and cooking supplies like pots and pans, dishes, cups, coffee maker and coffee. We loved our stay in May and it was very quiet.  

Our stay in July was just a bit different. It was July 1st and I could say that this day says it all!! and it did. It was very noisy and loud.. Now I understand it being July 1st weekend and folks want to party but I came for peace and to have some very important connections with my Mom. I have very limited time with her, so my wonderful husband asked if she would be strong enough to take away for a few days to let her have fun. We did research to find the proper place to take them so they could walk around and feel comfortable. 

Everything was great until the Party crowd decided to stay in cottage #8 right next to us. With all the loud music and pot smoking I thought for sure we would have to leave early but we managed to wait it out. now 3 days in and they leave. Thinking we would be able to have some calmness to watch the sunset under the beautiful trees lining the Red Umbrella Inn.....no we could not. come to find out that the restaurant puts a speaker in the window and blast the music outside and in. We had to ask a few times if they could please turn down the music. Keep in mind that the property is now empty and we are pretty much the only occupants with the exception of a staggered few from other cottages on this lake. So we are now having to move indoors because the only place to sit out of the sun was under the trees. They do provide ( Red Umbrellas ) for your deck but it just did not provide enough coverage for the heat. 

We also found that the Waitress at the restaurant had a bit of an attitude when we asked if she could turn down the music! Keeping in mind! there was no one there in or out eating! So now is Day 4 and 5 with 2 more days to go. The owner is very gracious and kind and very accommodating. 

I would come back to the Red Umbrella Inn with my Husband again but I don't think I would bring any senior with limited walking ability to the Inn only because of the multiple stairs to get to the dock or nor would I come on a holiday weekend again. 

This place is great for families and or younger couples wanting to party a bit. Cottagers from all area of the lake come and go to the Red Umbrella in. 

All in all it's a great place and you will have a wonderful time. They also have a multiple of water sports for all your young ones and adults to all have tons of fun.  

Laid Back Chaos!

We are always on the endless search, for good quality food. A Good, Home style Breakfast is few and far to be found. A freind had recommended the  Red Umbrella Inn a couple of years ago, covid happened, we forgot. In my reading up on some local happenings, the Inn is mentioned. I called them, they were opened, breakfast being served. We did the beautiful drive up, off the highway on a beautiful lake, is the Inn. We walked up to the door, were warmly welcomed by the hostess, we met Lindsey our server, and were brought into the dining area. A beautiful view of the lake, a warm rustic feeling, airy, spacious, very inviting and comfortable.
My friend had commented, and highly recommended the Inn, for its high standards, we were going to find out, if things had changed over the last couple of years. 
Lindsey, brought us coffee, and juice. My lady commented on how good the coffee was. 
We ordered French Toast, sausage s, and Pancakes with bacon. 
We brought, Maple syrup, and our hot sauce, just in case😎
We had great conversation with our server Lindsey, and the food arrived. 
We knew immediately, that all was well. Asked if there was Maple syrup, Michael the chef commented, "of course". I asked for hot sauce, I was offered regular or homemade, I smiled tried the homemade, perfect😁
Fresh Whipped cream, fresh Fruit, Pancakes and French toast, bacon, sausages, coffee and Juice, with service to match, All Outstanding!! 
Finally a Restaurant that will not disappoint. 
We are looking forward to our next visit🤗


Breakfast at the "Inn" 

Because your reservation  could be cancelled just because they have better opportunity.  That is exactly what happend to us. We made a reservation in July, but just one day before our stay it has been cancelled due to the wedding guests that they wanted to accommodate. Completly  disappointing!

Do not book this place

We enjoyed our stay at the red umbrella and very much. We found the owner Zee and the manager/chef Michael very accommodating , & pleasant. The beds were super comfy and very clean. Loved all of the accommodations!  …there were five couples as we were there for a family wedding and all of us plan on going back.

Loved our stay at the Red Umbrella Inn

We had a lovely weekend at The Red Umbrella Inn this past weekend.  The Red Umbrella is unique in the one thing that cannot be copied anywhere and that is service.  Like many lodges and inns built in the past century it shows its age a little but that only adds to its charm.  Our room, the grounds and the public areas were amazingly clean.  The atmosphere, grounds, and the cleanliness can be found in other inns and lodges but hospitality and service is what makes The Red Umbrella stand alone.  From the moment we arrived we were welcomed, offered anything to make our stay even more enjoyable and greeted and treated like honoured family members.  To top it all off the chef was able to prepare a dinner to accommodate my gluten and dairy allergies.  With advance notice the chef can even prepare one of their world renowned pizzas free of allergens.  Service and hospitality make The Red Umbrella a great choice for your next get-away.  I know we will be back.

Fabulous Service

Great location on the water facing west, boat access to cottagers which is great.
This could be something except the owner vaping and drinking beside me and my 4 yr old swearing and telling dirty jokes.
The Red Umbrella could be so much more so it's sad to see. Hopefully someone will buy the place and upgrade the atmosphere.

While the world continues to experience the effects of Covid 19, it was wonderful to spend a relaxing week at the Red Umbrella.  The staff was most attentive and more than willing to solve any small problem that we encountered.  Having the ability to order room service from the restaurant, meant that we spoiled ourselves with several delicious dinners. Before leaving, we booked our lake front cottage for the same time next year.

Cozy cabins with very pretty views on the lake. In the winter you can go ice fishing on the lake or snowmobiling and then rest in one of their rustic rooms. Chef Mike is amazing at creating vegan dishes.

Pretty Inn on a beautiful lake

Staff is excellent. The rooms in the main building are simple but comfortable. The food is absolutely amazing. We had a good time. The bar was open the TV on the fireplace kept us warm all good for a cold winter night.

Ice Racing in Minden

Excellent staff, amazing head chef and food! Even if your passing through it is worth stopping to try mikes cooking! Trained professional chef. With extremely reasonable prices for the quality of food. They made us feel at home and made sure we had everything we needed our entire stay
