Algonquin Highlands

Just had an awesome time here.  They are great folks very welcoming.  Had lots of enjoyment ice fishing, snowmobiling.  Not sure what more you’re looking for.   Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.  Came from England & my experience here was just what I was lookin for.  

Spot On

We had a wonderful ice fishing experience here at this establishment.  We had a great cottage, wood stove, lots of fire wood for us to use.  The hut was within walking distance which we really liked.  We caught a couple nice size lakers and had a fish fry out on the lake.   We have been to many different locations to ice fish and this was by far the best one yet.  We are looking forward to next winter and with a bigger group.  See you guys next March.  

EXCELLENT PLACE FOR ICE FISHING

Just a wonderful experience all around.  The views alone are with the money!  Little Hawk lake is a special place.  The water is crystal clean and so wonderful for swimming.  I cannot remember the last time we felt comfortable getting in the water.  The outdoor equipment to use during the stay is also a extra bonus.  We hiked everyday without seeing the same view twice.  Lots of places to canoe to on little hawk and enjoy the wonderful bouts of nature.  A truly little piece of heaven.  

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND

Let me preface this by saying that few places on Earth rival Haliburton for natural beauty.  I've lived in Argentina, France, Quebec; and have travelled extensively in South and Central America, Europe and Canada so I consider myself qualfied to make such a statement.

If your'e looking for a 5-star resort with all the bells and whistles, go somewhere else, perhaps Minett.  This is not that place.  This is an unaltered place of natural beauty,  consisting of 8 cottages and one main building with accomodations, along with a marina used by cottagers who access their cottages by boat.  You will not wake up to the soulnds of sawing, hammering, drilling, shouting or staple-gunning.  You might even sleep in.  I did.  And i needed it.  Even the loons here are relaxed.  The water is clean, clear and accessible from either a beach walk-in area or off the dock further out.  There is a super playground structure on the grass area in front of the lake for the kids.  Our cottage, albeit small, was very clean and provided a lovely lake view.  We had everything we needed.  Grocery store 20 minutes away.  One barely-travelled access road beside the cottages to private cottages for some private cottages accessible by car.  An extensive dock area where you can sit and sun.  And a great hottub enclosed by a gazebo so the bugs don't bother you. My husband and 26 year-old son had lots of fun playing 'Cornhole' beside the main inn.  The owners basically are there if you need them; otherwise they leave you alone to enjoy your vacation.  My family spent one day in Dorset at the BIgwin Museum and discovering the Bigwin boat.  We also shopped at Robinson's General Store.  When my husband and son went golfing another day I went to see the wolves at the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve- fascinating.  The day I went they were all lounging on the hill; a baby was nursing- just amazing. 
We like to go to different places however I would highly recommend this resort and lake- it was exactly what the doctor ordered. : )

Heaven on Earth

It's a great place for families, and the kids have had a lot of fun playing in the water and playing on the lawn too (slip and slide and wooden house!)

Council

Great hospitality and wonderful accommodations.  The beach is excellent, nice and sandy.  Great water toys and great fishing off the docks.  My boys loved it.  We enjoyed fires down by the waters edge and it was so peaceful.  Very family friendly and helpful staff.  Loved our summer stay.  The stars were so bountiful.  The kids seen their first falling stars.

Relaxing

Great place to unwind and forget what’s going on in the world today.  We loved the whole place, nice little cottage, great water toys, beautiful surroundings.  We felt relaxed and it was a much needed vacation.  Definitely recommend to family’s.  Look forward to going back.

Wonderful COVID free environment

We stayed in a nice cozy cottage.  Warm fire, great comfortable beds, had all we needed & more.  Our kids had a wonderful time exploring the winter landscape.  Had a great time skiing at Sir Sams and snowmobiling ..Little  Hawk is right on the trail.   We look forward to coming back.   They make awesome soup and burgers and the hot chocolate is fabulous!! Thanks for a nice winter getaway.

Just Wonderful

I would definitely recommend this resort. The service that the owners provided went above and beyond. The room was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. We stayed in the bachelor suit with a two person jacuzzi tube. This is a great resort for ice fishing. The walk to ice was very convenient. I would definitely recommend this resort for a cute couples getaway.

Perfect getaway for couples

We stayed in a cozy, clean cottage. Wonderful place that is surrounded by nature.  We enjoyed lots of cross country skiing just minutes from the resort, and went dog sledding in Haliburton Forest.  They have a lovely location.  The scenery around the resort is truly beautiful.  Look forward to visiting again.
