Perfect for those who are travelling on a budget. It’s clean and has all the facilities that you would need including free wi-fi. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Good location, bars, restaurants and shops are all a few minutes walk away. Also there is a bus stop near by if you want to go to the Mail or just into the City Centre, you could walk it if you’re feeling energetic.

Perfect for the traveler on a budget.

I stayed for a  few days in a private room while at a conference  in Edmonton. The room was clean and comfortable but very basic. That didn't worry me but I can understand why some might give it three stars.  The location is excellent in the nightlife area of Old Strathcona close to bars, restaurants and other facilities. The area is well supplied with public transport options for getting around the place.  I  also enjoyed the free pool table when I had a few minutes on my hands.

Comfirtable, clean, welcoming but a bit austere

Private room was decent size, clean & tidy as were the shared bathrooms. In comparison to other HI hostels I’ve stayed in it just didn’t have the same charm. No breakfast included and only small parking area. Only stopped overnight before flying out of Edmonton so served its purpose

Reasonable stay

The hostel is very well located, close to the famous Whyte Av. The cleanliness is not very good but not bad. I stayed there for 5 days and they haven't cleaned our room at least once! The bathrooms are also not very clean. Placed in a residential street which is in a quiet location. Our reception was pleasant and check-in and check-out were quick.

Good location, average quality

Great hostel, very big, modern and clean on the inside. Staff were very friendly.
The only downside is the area is not nesscessarly the nicest, with homeless people dumpster diving out the back in the carpark and parking is not always the easiest but at least there is some.
Overall not too bad for an HI hostel

Inside is better than outside

Placed in a residential street it is in a quiet location. Our reception was pleasant and check-in was quick. The double room we had was quite a small rectangular box with a sink. The bed has a small double mattress below a single bunk bed above. There is a fan for the heat. It is quite sterile and hospital like to be in. Showers for male and female are on alternate floors. These are clean and tidy as are the rooms.  The hotel itself has large common rooms and an outside seating area. It was very quiet when we were there during the night. But the place echos in the morning when people start getting up. The hostel is close to Whyte Avenue for restaurant and the like. For those with cars there is street parking or spaces at the back of the hostel for guests. 

Accommodating 

I recently stayed at this hostel and it was a good stay. The recently renovated building was finished to a high standard. The dorm, communal areas and bathrooms were all very well kept and clean. The kitchen was clean and had everything you could need, including plenty of space/fridge to store food too. There was also a games room with table tennis and a pool table.

The staff were very helpful and security was good. Beds were comfortable and large lockers provided to store your luggage. On The downside there weren't individual lights for the bed spaces which was a shame. 

The hostel itself, be warned, is across the river from the downtown area of the city. The number 9 bus connects to the city proper. In addition, there didn't seem to be much of an atmosphere. There were activities but they were poorly attended, that isn't necessarily the hotel's fault though.

Overall, a good but perhaps slightly clinical stay in Edmonton.
