I needed a well deserved weekend of R&R, as I was tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and just need a place to unwind! 
Ruthies Roost B&B is a welcoming, quaint, little gem and surprisingly quiet! The very best part of the B&B is Ruth herself and her amazing homemade breakfast that she cooks on her wood stove! The only rule in the house is that you must clean your plate!!! Hahaha 
This place reminds me so much of going to my grandmothers place as a child/young adult! There is always a happy smile to greet you, a kind word, restful healing and then leave with a very full belly of food! 
I can hardly wait to go back!

Ruthies Roost B&B

I stayed here for one night, could have stayed longer!

Ruthie was very friendly, welcoming me and offering tea when I arrived. She also had suggestions for local places to eat and visit. 

My room and the shared bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The location is also very quiet and tucked away, even though it's just off the highway.

The breakfast was amazing - ordered the night before from a long list of choices, and freshly cooked. 

Good chat in the evening and at breakfast with other guests who were staying there. Would definitely stay again.  

Friendly and fabulous breakfasts!

During our trip around Vancouver Island we wanted to spend a couple of nights in a peaceful and comfortable accomodation. At Ruthies' Roost we found that, and much more! Ruth welcomed us in her lovely cottage surrounded by trees, provided us with a comfortable, very spacious room, and delighted us with filling homemade blueberry pancakes for breakfast. We really enjoyed chatting with Ruth and the other guests in the morning, plus she gave us lots of suggestions on what to see and do.

A peaceful B&B in Vancouver Island

We've been on a month long road trip, and Ruthies was our final destination. The lodge we stayed in was very spacious and homely. The Kitchen was modern, but could do with renovating a bit. Huge balcony, with gas BBQ, was a lovely touch. 
The bathroom looks impressive, but is awkward, with sliding doors. The bath is free standing, with hand held shower, not very convenient after a day at the beach.
Ruthie herself is so welcoming and kind. We were very pleased to spend our last 2 nights here. 

Very pleasant 2 night stay

I booked a "family room" for myself and a friend on the basis that Ruthie's Roost website advertises the property as being 10 kilometres from the airport and there were two beds in the room. Because we had morning flights to catch it seemed ideal. The booking confirmation I received showed the price for two adults in the room at $100. This seemed reasonable considering that toilet and shower facilities were shared with all other guests and not private.

However it turned out that in fact the airport is 66 kilometres away and then on checkout my credit card was charged $40 extra, apparently because we had used both beds in the room, instead of sleeping together in the double bed! The hostess actually walked into our room uninvited in the morning, and asked me if we had used both beds, which of course we had - that was why we booked a room with two beds. It was quite weird and I felt cheated.

The beds were adequate and bathrooms were clean, but old with stained porcelain. We ended up having  a stressful, fast drive to the airport and it left a bad feeling on our last day on Vancouver Island. The breakfast was really the only thing I enjoyed. I would not stay again.

Don't be misled - extra charges on check out and far away from the airport.

Host, Ruth was unpleasant from the moment we arrived. 

She was rude and unwelcoming, Her place was dirty, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. She was always getting our names wrong. She yelled at her dog and other people around the property. AND we were charged an additional $125 for "leaving the room dirty". I cant see how you can "dirty a room" in less then 24hrs that would warrant a $125 fee. 

Will NEVER stay there again.
