i booked here as it was close to the highway and just convenient. When i checked in  my partner and had forgot to pack plates an cutlery, when we asked the reception they provided us free. The hot tub and sauna were clean available, with maximum  3 at a time. would stay here in future if in golden.

great for couple

We booked one night but extended two extra nights. The hotel was almost full but the Manager was excellent and accommodating to our extension, in the same room. 
The room was a pleasant surprise, updated linens and furniture compared to photos online. And it was pet friendly. Carpet could use updating too but I don’t blame them if they allow pets. Fridge/ freezer worked well, as well as microwave. Beds were pretty standard but comfortable. 
The motel had laundry facility as well as jacuzzi. However jacuzzi was closed, likely due to Covid-19. 
Location was good, about 3 mins drive to town. You could probably walk there in about 20-25 mins too. 
There’s plenty of nature to explore near the town of Golden. Yoho National park and Wapta falls are just two recommendations. There’s so much more. 
Manager was lovely to deal with. We were very happy with our stay.

Great value for the price, really clean and new!

Compared to the last hotel this one was nearly perfect. They even restocked the coffee every day, which was a significant bonus. 

Highly recommended, great stay, great staff.

Awesome hotel!

Over many years we've stayed in many dubious & iffy privately owned accommodation, few are well rated.
Some were reasonably acceptable some were diabolical.
The Selkirk Inn in the main ok (ish) depending on your point of view?
On reflection you'd be happier to stay at the Best Western just up the road.
We've stayed in many Best Western hotels & similar along the way, they just work - but they cost more so its your call.
You get what you pay for, what's cheap is cheap, Its not rocket science.
Don't get me wrong the Selkirk Inn works on a leval.
The pros: The accomodation is set at the back of the main road so is nice & quirt.
The beds were firm put acceptable, the pillows were comfy & we had a good night's sleep.
For cheap (ish) motel it ticks most of the likely boxes HOWEVER.
The Cons:
The whole place is in desperate need of some TLC & a total revamp as its completely worn out with little or no money spent on it a coffee cost 50c
Eg a lick of paint would be a good start.
Updated kitchenette would be good.
There are loose wiring coming out of cheap extention sockets.
You get the gist.
Would I stay here again if I was in Golden?.
Answer; probably not, but some think its ok. Its not the worst we stayed in.
Oh: The restaurant next door won my second worst rated in our 44 days/meals out in all of Canada. Avoid at all costs.

There is a price you pay for choosing privatly owned which invariably isn't good!!

Some places get five stars for many reasons. If you want a good nights sleep in a clean motel this is the place to stay.
Owner good guy no BS would definitely stay again.😊 room is large and beds are comfortable 

One night in one night back

$50!!  Just passing through and needed a bed for the night due to bad roads.  Got a single queen bed for a night. Sign said $59.99 he gave it to me for $50. Super clean, nice looking, restaurant adjacent.  Very good.

Highly recommend.

We arrived later in the afternoon than we would have liked after we got distracted hiking in Yoho but the staff were wonderful on arrival and checked us in quickly. Our room was nice and clean but had an interesting hole in the carpet by the door. It was very quiet and we had a good nights sleep, plus a good hot shower. We were pleasantly surprised too by the hot tub / pool and small recreation area.

Interesting Place

We checked a few other hotel/motels in the area and this was by far the best priced.  Room was spacious, clean and quiet. The AC worked well. The front desk person was friendly and offered to let us view the room first. We could easily walk to nearby restaurants. We were happy with our choice.

Good value

Stayed here for the night in Golden. Manager friendly and helpful. Rooms clean neat and tidy. Fridge coffee making facilities. Close to restaurants, liquor stores etc. Nothing flash but just what we required for the night. Would stay again. Good value for money.
