We stayed for 2 nights in this basement unit.  The location is wonderful, we loved walking around and parking was easy.  The unit was ok, it was very humid but the electric heater that was provided was useful.  The kitchenette area was a bit tight but ok to prepare breakfast or sandwiches for lunch.  The bed in the main room was very comfortable and extra blankets were provided.

This is a great place to stay in Jasper.  Hotels are super expensive.  For a very reasonable price, we enjoyed 2 nights at this accommodation.  DD and I enjoy having separate rooms.  There was a separate bedroom and a living area with a sofa bed.  Cable TV and internet worked well.  The small kitchen had a refrigerator and microwave.  The owners left breads, jam, butter, and yogurt for breakfast.  This was a great start to the day.  

We recommend anybody who is looking into reasonable accommodations in Jasper check out Cedar Gate.  However, you might need to reserve several months in advance.  We've had reservations since January.

It was a basement suite that was lots of room for 2 people.  Because it is in the basement, it is was cool on a hot day.  This accommodation was a great price compare to other hotel prices.  There was lots of parking up front on the street.  It was close to everything downtown, so we walked everywhere.  Definitely recommend this place to others.

I stayed here for two nights in August 2019. It is a basement apartment, but for the price it is more than worth it. The house is located on Jasper's main street and an easy walk to everything (a grocery store and liquor store are a couple minutes away and the main part of Jasper is only a few minutes further). Ample parking in front of the house. A small breakfast was provided though I didn't take advantage of it. Wifi was good and there's plenty of brochures and maps if you're looking for ideas for things to do in Jasper (though some of these were a bit dated). The bed and pillows were a bit firm for my liking but to each their own. Ed was a nice guy as well. I gave 4 out of 5 only because it's not an elite place to stay, but for what it is and for the price I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Small, nicely decorated, private basement suite with separate entrance. It was very clean and the hosts provided a breakfast of bagels, bread, jam and yogurt. The hosts also did the dishes! The kitchen is very small, it had a bar fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee pot and kettle. There is a nice living room with TV, couch (that can be a sofa bed), and guide books. Clean bathroom with a great shower, but bring your own shampoo! Bedroom has a large queen bed, but the pillows were quite firm. Overall super clean and great stay!

This a great place to stay in Jasper that is reasonably priced. It is the lower level of a house that has been nicely remodeled into a guest suite. It does have a separate lower level private entrance, a small kitchenette area including a fridge, microwave, and dishes, a living room area with satellite t.v. and a sleeper sofa, a bedroom with a queen bed, and your own bathroom which also has a shower. They also have a cooler for guests to use. It is very nicely decorated. They do not provide a large breakfast, but do leave some items such as yogurt, bagels, or cinnamon rolls. Enough for a decent breakfast. You just leave the dirty dishes, and the owners come and take them to be washed. We spent most of a day here because of the rainy weather. The owners do live upstairs, so you do hear some noise above you from time to time, but not too bad. And they do give you privacy. The only time we saw them was when we arrived, and when they came to get our dirty dishes and bring us breakfast for in the morning. You just leave the cash on the table in the morning before you leave. We enjoyed reading all of the information they had in the living room on the area. For the $110/night price, it was very nice. We hope to stay there again in the future!

Quaint but great

Very charming place!

If you like a private B and B this is the one.  There is a basement suite perfect for couples.  We have been going here for years.  This year was a bit of a disappointment because some things were amiss. We had to ask for soap for the bathroom,hangers for the armoire,extra pillows and blanket and the microwave was dirty.

...is not to be found at Cedar Gate.

What with the fumes from the diesel trains over the street, the fumes from the vehicles on the main street directly before the door and the mildewed cellar accommodation, breathing is not recommended when staying at Cedar Gate.

The furnishings appear to have come from a car boot sale and although clean in appearance, one would question the hygiene. But given the lack of lighting in the 'snack room', bedroom and bath, it is difficult to assess.

The included 'continental breakfast' will not be recognisable by a 'continental'.
