Stayed here before.   Beautiful location.  Rooms serve the purpose and some could use some upkeep.  Clearly they were working short staffed.i am not sure that I have seen a more dedicated staff to deliver the best possible guest experience.  It was a full house and they worked hard to make sure everything was on point and they did everything they could as a team to deliver the best guest experience.  Hotel was as expected. Service was well above expectations. 

Late September stay

I was so excited to visit Kenosee this summer but what a huge disappointment!!!! The hotel is soooooo run down, smelly (like stale smoke and damp old mold) and is nothing like I expected. I wish I would’ve read the reviews on this place before ever booking a room here!!!  The rooms are so small and they definitely need a major facelift!!!!

Soooooo disappointed

The positive: beautiful views, nice beach and clear water. My meal the first night was delicious, but barely lukewarm. My husband had a burger which, looked homemade but was tasteless. We also waited 50 minutes for our meal and I never received my salad until the meal arrived and I asked for it. Out second night we ordered 7” pizzas. Delicious except my dough was raw in the middle of pizza.
The continental breakfast is not great. Nothing hot except waffles and toast. Plastic tables and some were dirty. The side of the mini fridge was disgusting. The whole room was dismal. 
The hallways are dark, carpet old and a funky smell. 
The property is not well kept. Junk to the right of the entrance and weedy and unkempt on side of the building. 
The rooms are dated. Cola or something sprayed on the wall behind lamp. Not sure how long it had been there. The bathroom had been redone, but then painted a different color than the walls and door in the rest of the room. Why not give it all a fresh, matching coat of paint. 
In general, Kenosee Inn is tired and drab and in serious need of an overall refresh. Definitely not worth the price and definitely would not stay again. 

Old And Tired

With black mould behind the toilet, soiled towels, no coffee maker or microwave, poor breakfast and high price - I would never recommend Kenosee Inn & Cabins. This is a nice location, but the hotel is badly cared for.

I stayed in a cabin then again at the Inn a couple weeks later. I was very disappointed for the price. The cabin was dirty, freezer was so frosted we couldn't fit our food in.  The owner was nice but the man at the front desk was very rude. When staying at the Inn I only showered once because when I did I was scolded twice and had to jump out, my legs were raw and could not go in the sun for the next 2 days( main reason for being there was to hang at the beach) The Inn stunk so bad like must and mold. The first meal at the restaurant was delicious, the second was aweful, don't know if it was a different cook but the bruchetta went from amazing to just soggy bread and tomatoes. All around disappointed, I will never go back or suggest to anyone. 

Do not recommend 

Thanks to all the reviews we came prepared for most problems.  We brought our own sheets but the bedding was okay.  We used bedding on the furniture as they were old, dirty and stained.  A two bedroom cabin would do well with a love seat.  Not enough furniture for capacity. 

We killed around 60 flies while we were there.  We assumed it was because of the 1/2 inch gap between the door and the frame.  Hopefully that is fixed as mice will easily get in.  

As mentioned the shower needs to be replaced but the hot water was abundant.  The fireplace worked well and let off a good amount of heat.  Appliances all worked well and cleaning staff did a good job. 

 It was a tad overpriced for what cabin 14 was offering but if clean furniture/shower were brought in, and a handy man did some much needed repairs, all would be well.  

Kenosee in the Autumn

Major power outage ruined the stay.  No electricity, hot water, food, lights, ice, or AC on the hottest day of the year.  After the 16 hr power outage was restored, they took many more hours to get the AC up and running.    Had to have a whores bath in the dark, would have been better to sleep in the car at least there is AC and a radio.  Tried to get a discount to stay another night, but the manage was 100% unsympathetic and simply claimed "they would go out of business if they did that and besides it is already 15$ cheaper for a weekday".  So we left and did not spend any amount of money on another night, nor did we drop a couple hundred in their restaurant, since apparently taking my money and making me happy is bad for business.  Hence this review.

Management was miserable, hotel needed maintenance, much better places for cheaper.

Stayed for a wedding. Lots of ants and spiders. Poorly done patch jobs in bathroom. Overpriced rooms and required to book two nights but only really needed one. Wouldn’t stay again just from the cost…and my morning coffee curdled :(

Overpriced….this isn’t the city.

We have stayed here, and dined her numerous times over the years, we stopped in tonight for supper and it was absolutely awful food and horrible service, our food was cold and dried out and just awful in every way but still shined compared to the service, Brittney was our server!

Food was not great and service was even worse

I think it's pretty much guaranteed that if you're paying $180 a night for a one bedroom cabin you don't want to have to spend an hour cleaning the place before you can settle in but that was our Cabin #8 experience.   Floors were dirty & had to be swept, there was soap scum in the bathroom sink & the fridge needed to be cleaned before we could put food into it.   Dishes had been "washed" but weren't clean. The freezer had not been defrosted in a long time & was full of ice crystals.   

     Once we got settled in we discovered there was no coffee pot even though that was advertised as included.  Give the people who run the place credit;  they did supply one but really you shouldn't have to ask.  The kitchen has one outlet which means you can't make coffee & toast at the same time in the kitchen.  The stove is an ancient electric affair on which the oven took forever to heat up to 350 degrees.  Our first night there we decided to use the barbecue that was provided but there was no propane in the tank.  

     The furnishing are spartan, again a bit chintzy for $180 a night.   The couch in the living area was a lumpy futon.   I pity the poor soul who would have to sleep on that.   The mattress in the bedroom was hard.  Not our cup of tea but we understand some people like that.   The table was tiny & only 3 "real" chairs;  there were 4 plastic patio chairs provided, again not what you would expect for $180 a night.  

     Our 2 sons & their partners stayed at the Lake with us in both sides of a duplex.   They had the same issues of cleanliness in their cabins.   One of the cabins had bunk beds that had only a thin plastic "mattress" available.   

    All in all the accommodations were definitely lacking in cleanliness and the amenities barely rose to the level of  basic, definitely not what a $180 a night cabin should be like.   Management really needs to do more that just ride around on a golf cart to see how their property is maintained.   I note that the cleanliness issue is a common theme of many reviews.  

     We would like to go back to Kenosee, the scenery is terrific & there was lots of nice places to hike or just go for a walk but we won't be returning to these cabins.
