We stayed here for two nights on our visit to the region. We stayed in the spacious room with a view over the St. Lawrence River and en-suite bathroom. The king sized bed was comfy and there were ample pillows (not always the case when traveling). The whole inn is appointed in a casual but tasteful vibe and the breakfasts overlooking the river were great. Thank you for a great stay, Sylvain!

Brilliant hospitality, incredible views

Spectacularly clean, friendly, well-appointed house with the most magnificent view. Our host Silvain saw after every possible aspect of our stay. The four-course breakfast, served in a magnificent dining area, was beautifully presented and extremely tasty. We loved our stay and would like to give it 10 stars if there were!

A clean beauty with a heart

My husband and I were primarily visiting Montreal and Quebec City but rented a car for three days so we could visit La Malbaie, Saguenay and the Parc du Jacques Cartier. When we saw the listing for this bed and breakfast, we immediately booked a room. We chose the king room with a fabulous view of the St. Lawrence River. Our host, Silvain, was very welcoming and helpful. He and his wife prepared delicious breakfasts for our two mornings there. It was very quiet, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom had everything we needed. I would recommend this inn to couples wanting to experience great service and lovely surroundings.

Wonderful B&B with amazing views of the St. Lawrence!

We stayed at Auberge des Eaux Vives in October and had the most amazing stay. Our room was wonderful, the scenery was excellent, and Sylvain was an incredible host. The standout of our stay was definitely the breakfasts! They really were next level. Auberge des Eaux Vives is at the top of our list of guesthouses to return to.

Incredible mornings, incredible days

This was our 6th stay out Auberge des Eaux Vives and every vacation we have spent there has been delightful. Sylvain and Johanne have created a true oasis where you can enjoy awesome breakfasts to start your day, easily drive to the beautiful parks and attractions in the Charlevoix region and relax in a peaceful setting any time of day. If you’re up early, on most days you can catch beautiful sunrises over the St. Lawrence River from their perch on the hillside overlooking the Cap-a-l’Aigle Marina. It’s a short 5-minute drive to La Malbaie, with its many restaurants and pleasant waterfront parks. The Cap-a-l’Aigle Gardens, which has flower gardens and a pathway along a small stream with cascading waterfalls, is only a 10-minute walk from Auberge des Eaux Vives. Over the years Sylvain has recommended many wonderful restaurants and provided guidance on sights to see in the area – his recommendations are always spot on. As for Johanne’s breakfasts, you must experience them to truly appreciate what she does; creative combinations of ingredients, artistically presented, something different every day and always well balanced (the breakfasts are so satisfying, we often skip lunch or have something very light).  We usually stay 7 nights at Auberge des Eaux Vives when we visit Charlevoix, and we are amazed at how consistently excellent our experience has been. We couldn’t think of any place we’d rather stay when we are in Charlevoix.    

The Perfect Place to Stay in Charlevoix

Exceptional stay in a tastefully decorated inn. The views will take your breath away, and the warm welcome (and amazing breakfast cooking) from the hosts will make your stay simply perfect. Will definitely go back to this place in summer time to enjoy more of Charlevoix.

Can't get over the view from our room!

We stayed two nights here but wished we were staying longer. Our room was beautiful and the owners take such care over all the small details to make the stay feel really special. We were in La Brume but any of the rooms would be lovely here. You can walk down to the small harbour with your beer or wine or stroll along the beach in the evening sun. Breakfast was a real gourmet affair and delicious. The owners took exceptional care with Covid precautions. Highly recommend staying here and we will be booking up again.

Wonderful auberge with beautiful rooms, lovely setting and great host

....but this place nearly beats it. And we must admit, that at home we would never ever have such a fantastic four course breakfast served by the nicest host we met during our whole journey. A perfect place to relax while enjoying a marvellous view.

There‘s no place like home....

This was our 5th stay at Auberge des Eaux Vives since 2013, and just like the 4 previous times, we left looking forward to the next time we will stay there. Sylvain and Johanne have created a comfortable, relaxed inn that is a perfect place from which to explore all the Charlevoix region has to offer. Sylvain is so helpful in planning where to eat and has never steered us wrong with his recommendations. He also is extremely knowledgeable about the area and provides great insight when planning things to do. Johanne prepares incredible breakfasts each morning, not only delicious, but also balanced with a mix of grains, fruit, dairy and protein that leave you feeling ready to take on whatever you have planned for that day.

We love the atmosphere at the inn and all the spaces (indoors and outdoors) there are to relax after a long day of hiking or sightseeing. Charlevoix is noted for its gastronomic tradition, and we like to buy local cheeses, meats, etc. and bring them back to the inn to enjoy on the deck while taking in gorgeous views of the St Lawrence River. There is a refrigerator available in the dining area and the inn has all the plates, glasses, silverware, tablecloths and other utensils (corkscrews, knives, spreaders, etc.) you’ll need to enjoy your “take home” lunch or dinner.

We always stay in the La Brunante room, which has a small balcony overlooking the St. Lawrence. The room is extremely comfortable, there is a large armoire to store your things, 2 chairs, a small table and plenty of well-located outlets for your electronics. The bathroom is spacious and well-lit with an excellent shower and plenty of counter space around the sink to put your toiletry items. There isn’t a thing we would change – so well thought-out. 

There are so many things to do in the area, with great parks and trails to hike, villages to visit, whale watching, culinary touring, gardens, art galleries and terrific restaurants. After 5 visits to Charlevoix, we are still discovering new things to do and revisiting areas we really enjoyed in the past. Traffic is light, parking is easy, the countryside is beautiful, so it is a pleasure driving around the region. From the inn you can walk to a very nice garden and it is a short walk down the hill to a marina with tables and chairs that offer nice, waterside views of the St Lawrence.

Lastly, I will say that the inn is spotless. Sylvain and Johanne are perfectionists, and their attention to detail shows in everything they do.  All is so neat and organized in the common areas, and they have created a relaxed ambience that makes us feel at home. Everything is here to make your stay in Charlevoix a truly memorable one. We wouldn’t think of staying anyplace else when coming to the region. Auberge des Eaux Vives gets our highest recommendation and it is our favorite bed and breakfast, bar none; always a delightful experience. If you are planning to visit the Charlevoix region, stay here!

Our Favortie B & B, Always Outstanding

After a 3 hour delay on Air Canada we were ready to enjoy our weekend away and the auberge met all our expectations. The view of the St. Lawrence River from our room was memorable and the room most comfortable. The inn is spotless and visitors have access to coffee and tea making facilities. The hosts are excellent cooks so breakfast was delicious. Sylvain made sure we had all the information we needed to make the most of our short break.
