La Malbaie

We adored this hotel and are already planning a trip back. Rooms are spacious and clean. Good size closet and bathroom. Really nice to have a balcony to enjoy the view and sit outside with coffee in the morning. The views are incredible and the hotel is quiet. It's just a very peaceful location. Very easy to drive into town. We ended up walking to the casino. Not a bad walk, except for the hill up back up to the hotel. We had dinner and two breakfasts in the restaurant during our stay. Dinner was incredible, but pricy. Breakfasts were also a little pricy but they were big, full breakfasts. The hotel staff and restaurant staff were all friendly and helpful. We were only here for a quick stay, but can picture settling in for a longer visit. There is a small fridge in the room and the coffee provided is good. There are several trails in the area, a couple of which can be accessed from the property.

Wonderful place to visit!

A great fine dining experience in Malbaie. The view of the river from the dining room is a great asset for eating here. The cuisine is good made with terroir products. We highly recommend this restaurant. Jacques Legault and Jean Martel, August 2022

Nice cuisine in Malbaie

It's a nice place to relax. Room with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, as well as outdoor parking with easy communication with the rooms. Spacious room with impeccable bedding. Very friendly home and very quiet place. Excellent breakfast served at the table

A remarkable address

Before you validate a reservation to stay overnight in this establishment, beware of the rooms that we are going to offer you. There are three levels in this hotel, do not hesitate to ask for the third floor, the soundproofing between the floors is a real disaster. Since someone is walking upstairs, we have the feeling that they are in our room. The floating parquet installed in the rooms is the source of this constant noise. I think the owner is aware of this problem, he really should be aware of it and that work should be done quickly. This house could have a lot of charter without this acoustic problem.

Nice location for this charming hotel with a view of the Saint Laurent. Large free car park, green garden with games and swimming pool (not tested). 3/5 grade because the room is medium and noisy (noise from neighbors from above).

Charming hotel.

Beautiful location, professional staff in all departments, very good dinner but exorbitant prices...permanent bad smell in the room, no mosquito door so forced to withstand the loud air conditioner, old furniture and decoration are no longer in the taste of the day, whereas mattresses and the perfect bedding and bathroom are fine.

It's not what we expected.

Since the time I waited to visit this establishment (+20 years) I have been very disappointed, the price paid is excessive for the quality received (++700$). The rooms require major renovations, it is old and it feels old not very nice. Everything is outdated on the facilities side except the bed which is very comfortable. Our dishes now the liver fat is very good, the main dishes were too cooked we were not packed on this side either. It was correct but not TOP. Very expensive the quality/price ratio will not be very fair.

Disappointing - Requirement for Renovation

We had booked for a family of 5 Arriving on the spot the host forgot a room! obliged to find another booking at the last minute, at the end of the day, with 3 children! I am furious!!!

Reservation not honoured

We recently passed through the Malbae region in Charlevoix and on our first day we arrived early and were looking for a place to have breakfast as we had left very early in the morning from Ontario.  I had always wanted to stay/visit the Auberge des 3 Canards for over twenty years. I was very excited that we were told we could have breakfast in their restaurant.  We paid $23 each for a breakfast that was below the standard we would expect what I thought was a prestigious establishment.  The eggs were very overcooked and under seasoned, the bacon looked like it was the pre-cooked bacon strips you can buy in the grocery store.   

I would not recommend this restaurant for breakfast.

Poor experience with the restaurant for Breakfast at the Auberge

We hadn't been back to the area since they went bankrupt in 2014. So we looked for something that could bring us closer to the hotel's website. As we should never be proud of the Internet sites. We used to stop there, in Cape Town to Eagle, from the lack of maintenance of the building, from old rooms to donated facilities (including the mini bar that makes a buffet of bananas) to the ringing of the formulae that you are supposed to have paid for the old motel. So we looked for something that could bring us closer to the hotel's website. What we could make out to be the website of the 3 Canards. As we should never be proud of the internet sites.
