Now i am a Boy Scout of 15 years. i have camped all the way up and down this island in the bush and in campsites. This campsite is hands down the best i have been to on the island prices are extremely reasonable, Staff are friendly and helpful. They have a laundry mat on site and showers as well and while we are on the topic of bathrooms they are the cleanest bathrooms i have ever been in at a campsite as they are cleaned daily, never mind the showers are free!!!  Spacing is a nice its a little on the close side but the management has put large shrubs to separate and privatize the sites a bit. the sites them selves are cleaned and tidied on the regular. the site has a playground, a beautiful scenic and historic walk around the lake, a dock, fishing and a volleyball court on the beach, i don't know if the go carts are for rent in the winter months but they have tons to do for the kids. i saw a amphitheater in the entrance for skits and possibly summer movie nights. The Shareholders/Local residents are Friendly,polite and happy to see campers coming to enjoy their little patch of heaven. I strongly Recommend this campsite as it is still close to town but you wouldn't be able to tell once your settled in. Best Campsite on this rock hands down!!!!!!!!! P.s i read the review above me the office is closed all winter long feel free to call the number as the owner will be down shortly to intake you. but as far as the store goes its open daily in the summer months to grab a quick ice cream cone to cool down or maybe your septic hose is damaged and need a new one but don't want to travel to Duncan they have it. but the store is closed during their winter months. HOWEVER!!!!!!! if you have eyes you can clearly see a door bell beside the door asking you to ring it and give them a minuet to get down stairs so office isn't "truly" closed.

Awesome Private and close to town

We were on our way to the Provincial Campground nearby but it was full so we decided to try Beaver Lake Resort.  Luckily they had a cancellation so they were able to give us a spot for our Class B RV for the night.  The spot was spacious and had a picnic table, fire ring and services.  We had a view of the lake although it was partially blocked by trees.  Some people have permanent spots there and everyone we spoke to was very friendly.  They have RV camping, tent camping and a few cabins for rent.
There is a large grassy area with a children's playground and a dock with boats you can rent.  Some folks were fishing off the dock.  The lake is small and I imagine the swimming is nice.  There were "no dog" signs everywhere although dogs are allowed down the center pathway to the dock on the lake.  I would have liked to have walked my dog at the lake so wished they had a large dog friendly area.  Apparently there is a path you can take around the lake with your dog  but we didn't get a chance to try it as we didn't find out about it until late evening.  All of the regulars followed the leash rules so you don't have to worry about loose dogs.
They have clean washrooms, showers and a laundry.  There is also a basketball hoop and a ping pong table.  There were not many children....only two families had small children with them.  
We found the resort quiet and peaceful.  Very relaxing.  If I had been there for more than an overnight stay I would have rented a pedal boat and toured the lake.

Peaceful and Tranquil

This RV Resort is well maintained. There are some permanent residents, sites for campers and tents. The RV sites are fairly private with hedges dividing them. The RV sites are quite large with full services, if you wish. They have a small sandy beach and one can swim to a raft; a playground for the children; rentals for canoes, kayaks and paddle boats. Washrooms are very clean and supplied; showers are free with hot water. One can buy wood for an evening fire; each site has a fire pit. The park has good rules and it is very quiet at night. They charge $5 per day for the WIFI, but it is slow and weak (many interruptions). The Resort is a 5-minute drive to the village of Lake Cowichan where one can find restaurants and small shopping places, as well as the River Tubing activity. The Resort is a 30-minute drive to the city to Duncan which has a cinema among many other retailers and services.

Reading the recent reviews had us questioning our booking; however, we had a great 3 day vacation at Beaver Lake Resort. Its true, the majority of the spots appear to be inhabited by long term guests. Yes, there are signs of where dogs are welcome and not welcome and yes, it is not a "in the trees" type of place. that said, the place is immaculate, the beach and lake were great for our small children (we swam everyday), the playground was a huge hit and for us it was an easy stay as we had a full hook up for our trailer. We found it to be centrally located as we wanted to tube the river and of course we forgot a few things so to be able to get to a nice size grocery store within a few minutes as a bonus. 

There were a lot of kids around while we were there so that wasn't an issue. Our kids are too small to be joining others wandering around the camp site so that wasn't an experience we were looking for. They did play with others at the playground and shyly said hi to some in their sites. 

I think if you are looking for the provincial campsite vibe of being surrounded by the woods, you won't be happy with this campground. The camping sites are bright and you are more likely to be beside a nicely trimmed hedge than a 100 year old evergreen. It all depends on what you are looking for.

If you are looking for rustic camping, this is not your place

I was doing a cycling trip with family and booked Beaver Lake Resort as an overnight rest stop.  As it turned out, we made very good time that day and wanted to push on further (it was 11:00am).  We stopped and explained to the management that we would like to cancel and they flatly refused.  I get that we did not meet the cancelation policy requirements, but most people would not charge for a service not rendered. Thats pretty cold.  I think it speaks volumes about their attitude.  

We checked out the campsite anyway to see how nice it was (we all have RV's and may want to return).   I can attest to what other say.  Very few trees, very little privacy, very few children.  The place is mostly live-ins.   Glad we didn't stay.
