The perfect place for a short stay. Clean, good beds, hot water, great location as in waterfront -- what a view of "the lake that is a river" aka the St. Lawrence River and easy highway access. Great to have a room fridge. 

The room was larger than expected.  Plenty of nearby restaurants and a grocery store in walking distance. 

We were tired after a long day driving and followed the signs to Motel Rive Du Lac. Friendly owners and staff. They were very attentive and helpful. I was new driving a camper trailer which he saw immediately and offered easy parking -- so grateful!

I'm happy to recommend this sweet little motel find. We would stay there again!

Perfect Stay

Ok its not the Hilton 5 stars but it was clean, the room was big enough with the 2 double beds small table and chair . It is dated could use some paint in the washroom but the price is right and its clean. Owners dont speak good english or good french but we eventually communicated enough, it was easy as i booked and paid online

Place to crash , clean and reasonable

You get what you pay for... and if you keep your expectations accordingly, you'll be fine.

It's a small family-run motel with a friendly owner who tries to accommodate your needs and tries to make you as comfortable as possible.  The rooms are a bit small and the bathroom is too.  The locks and appliances could do with a refurbishment.  The beds are pretty comfortable and I wouldn't have complained if the pillows were a little softer.  If you are looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay as a no-frills rest stop and don't want to spend too much just to spend a night, this might suit you.   
 This place is maybe a level lower than Econolodge.

The place is near the ON-QC border and saves you a lot of driving if you are planning to stay for the night only to continue your journey to Quebec City / Maine (or other places) the next day as it saves you driving in horrible traffic in MO.  Wi-fi is free with a download speed of around 20-30 Mbps. The room has a coffee maker and coffee but I didn't have any creamer or sugar in my room which was not a big deal as we are not coffee drinkers and I am sure the owner would have provided if I had asked for some.

The location is right ON the river and there's a nice place to sit and listen to the splashing of the water on the banks and a BBQ if you fancy a steak-out :)  There is a SAQ (LCBO) and Metro across the street of the motel which is a plus.  There are pizza joints and middle eastern restaurants that deliver to your rooms as well.

Don't have high expectations and you'll be okay :)

Very good quality/price ratio. Nice staff. Big flaw for us the microwave and the coffee machine have been detected. Otherwise it's a 4.

Pleasant.

I called at 5:00 p.m. to say that we would be late around 9:00 or 22:00 p.m. Everything was fine, the gentleman said on the phone. When I got there, I didn't have a room because the establishment was overbooked. Unfortunately for me, I was the last one there. I found another hotel further away to finally sleep my children at midnight. I don't recommend this establishment or its staff, which I thought was aggressive.

It was a hard night!!!

Arriving at 4pm we had to wait at least 5 minutes for the owner to return from collecting her daughter (message on the office door said "a bientot" ) The office area was tiny and the check-in not very efficient. But  the motel's situation by the lake is good. The large mirror tiles covering the whole  ceiling were a bit off-putting to say the least  and the broken chair should not have been there  but the room was clean,  spacious and bright (better lit than a lot of rooms we've been in) and there was a kitchen area with fridge, microwave, cupboards and cooker. In all, good value

Mirrored Ceiling a bit of a shock!

The Motel Rive du Lac is an older strip motel with 16 rooms. It is very small but has a beautiful view of the St Lawrence in the morning. The room we had was 15 feet from the water with 3 large windows. We had a queen bed, small fridge, microwave and a stove that may be from WWII. The owner spoke only French and my French was poor.

Clean and affordable

Great view of the lake. Cleanliness and good service. The owner doesn't speak French or English well. The motel is a certain age, so the kitchen is old. There's a grocery store across the street which is very useful when we're on a bike.

It's a good place to stay the night.

It's quiet, well-sounded, very clean! It's a motel with no swimming pool and no restaurant, but only a few minutes from restaurants, pharmacies, gas stations, etc. Ten minutes by car from St-Zotique beach.

Underrated, one that's worth a fuck!

I was a little put off by the front office. Not clean, very cluttered. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. When I checked into my room and opened the door, the knob was broken. There was no back-up lock, just the lock on the knob, and the knob was clearly not working properly. When I tried wifi on my phone there was no signal. I checked the bathroom and it was dingy, and smelled of mould. I went to speak to the management, and they were not very accommodating. I needed a room with wifi in order to continue with some commitments while on the road. Eventually they transferred me to another room, but not without some effort from me. I would not recommend this motel to anyone. The price is right, but you actually get what you pay for here. I have never  had such a bad experience in a motel.
