I can’t say enough about this place. Super clean. Breakfast every morning was fantastic!. The bed was super comfortable. The place was really quiet. And the owners were some of the kindest people I have ever met. This is a true gem in the heart of Cape Breton!

Best place on Cape Breton

We knew from the description that the inn was in a rural and quiet setting and that’s what we were looking for in our Cape Breton visit.  It was our landing spot as we explored the coast, the interior, and the highlands. 

Our room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable.  
Keith was a gracious host and showed a genuine interest in our daily adventures.  We thoroughly enjoyed Elizabeth’s meals, the fresh coffee, the beautiful property and views.  We had a lovely chat with the hosts as we were preparing to leave.  We felt like we left some new friends behind as we drove away from Tulloch Inn.

Comfortable and Inviting Inn with delicious breakfasts

The Inn is absolutely stunning.  Large rooms. beautifully decorated, sound proof making it quiet. Second floor deck was enjoyable with the lake view. The hosts Keith and Elizabeth took such great care of us. We are looking forward to returning one day. Being scent free house was a big plus for me as I am sensitive to fragrances. 

What a delight!

My brother and I stayed with Elizabeth and Keith for two nights at their lovely inn. Since we asked for separate beds, we we accommodated in the Gillis room-a handicap accessible room on the first floor. This room has French doors out to the balcony, with a little table in front. 
In the evening, as we shared a bottle of wine enjoyed the lake view, and discussed everything (we don’t see one another often), Elizabeth generously offered wine glasses and ice for our unrefrigerated bottle of wine. She actually lent us a cute ice bucket.
There are so many nice touches here.
At breakfast, there are linen napkins, and individual pitchers for cream and maple syrup.
Breakfasts were delicious and appealing—scrambled eggs, bacon and toast with homemade strawberry jam. Homemade pancakes with maple syrup and fresh fruit.
The coffee is top notch. 
The Tolloch Inn is off the beaten path and now on my must stay list whenever I visit Cape Breton.

Restful, accommodating, very special

We were warmly greeted by Elizabeth and Keith MacPhee and it was an easy checking.  Our room was on the second floor facing lovely lake Ainslie. Our room was really large and had a balcony.  The king bed was super comfortable and they provided all the toiletries.  

They served a perfect breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. Coffee of course.  I learned that the MacPhee’s built this inn 19 years ago.  It is really beautiful.  

This was my first time staying at a place like this and I am really glad we did!

A beautiful inn with gorgeous views

This is a really beautiful B&B located just near Ainslie Lake.  Even the drive down to the B&B, through a woods, is lovely.  Rooms are large and comfortable and have a nice view of the lake.  There are porches on both levels.  The owners were welcoming and helpful and provided provided a tasty breakfast in the morning.

Having visited many Inns, Motels and Cottages in Cape Breton I have to say The Tulloch Inn is my favourite spot. The Inn is quite isolated and thus very quiet and peaceful. Your hosts Keith and Elizabeth will do anything to make your stay more comfortable.
The rooms are bright, spacious, very clean and well maintained and fully equipped with wifi, a/c, TV, DVD, and very comfortable top quality beds and bedding. Your room rate includes a full cooked breakfast served in a charming dining room. 
With advance notice, Elizabeth will personally prepare dinner for her guests - her culinary skills are superb and if you are lucky enough to enjoy dinner here you will not be disappointed.
Otherwise you will have a 20 minute drive to the nearest half decent restaurant. 
If you are planning an overnight visit or longer in the Inverness area, The Tulloch Inn May not be the closest spot but for value and quality it is highly recommended and well worth the 20 minute drive. 

One of the best in Cape Breton 

Well, it is nice to be away from low lying seaside areas when a hurricane hits. It was an unsettling 24 hours. The power was out, and the wind and rain was ferocious. The inn was designed to withstand 200 mph winds, so it turned out to be a pretty safe place to be.
It's really a scenic location with great lake views, which we enjoyed in the daylight even though the lake was pretty churned up. The inn is away from town, and away from the highway, so plan to be self-sufficient (even in good weather) and enjoy the fine meals that Elizabeth and Keith prepare. I am sure it is very quiet when there are is not a big storm underway. The rooms (4) are super-clean, scent free, and well furnished. There is a common living room and a dining room downstairs that are enjoyable shared spaces. The balconies are nice with great views, although we did not have the opportunity to enjoy during our time.
Elizabeth and Keith were super hospitable and had answers to all questions, and were calm during the storm. They went above and beyond in fixing delicious  breakfast, lunch, and dinner on their camping stoves, since there was no power (and all 4 rooms were occupied). Great place to ride out a storm, but I bet it would be even more enjoyable during milder conditions. Thanks Elizabeth and Keith!

Weathered Hurricane Dorian here.

We arrived at the Inn the night before the hurricane hit.  Keith and Elizabeth were lovely and gracious hosts.  The Inn lost power on the next afternoon and did not regain it before we left 4 days later.  Even with all of that we made the best of it.  Elizabeth cooked meals over a camp stove and was still able to provide wonderful things.  The view from our window was beautiful overlooking Lake Ainslie.  We will definitely return, hopefully the weather will cooperate this time.

If getting off the main trail is your thing this is a great spot. Very clean and beautiful spot. Nice view of the lake but sadly no access. The owners are so pleasant and fun and they can cook! Breakfast is included but i regret not getting the supper which you can reserve when you book because it smelled amazing.
