The view was amazing! The staff was amazing! The Inn is very close to a restaurant and the beach. The beach had warm water so you could easily swim. Can’t say anything bad about this place. Thank you so much for the hospitality. We had a great time.

Amazing!

We stayed in Margaree Harbour in between two driving sightseeing days on a glorious trip to Nova Scotia to see the Fall colours and spectacular scenery. The B&B is at the end of the Cabot Trail in a very picturesque setting. Our hosts were very interesting. The breakfast was good. The room was small, but lovely, and the bathroom well appointed, but shared, which didn't matter to us, as we were the only guests at the time (mid week).

Interesting folks, great location

If you are a ‘tick list’ person you won’t stay here for the reasons listed in other reviews. I’m not. I enjoyed a two night stay in this quirky set up where you are welcomed into a real home where the ownership goes back at least three generations.

I’m sure that of all the places I stay in during this two week venture in Nova Scotia this is the one I will remember. It is a real home not a slick business and real people are allowed to be idiosyncratic in their own homes. You will be comfortable and well looked after. My companion had mentioned casually that he had been asked to get some maple leaves for a friend and we arrived back later to find that our hosts had picked various types for him. That sort of kindness and helpful ness outweighs the lack of toiletries. Some people need to get a life and the real people running this unique place get a decent review from this traveller.

A good old fashioned experience 

This motel was spotless! Fantastic service and room was so comfortable and clean. Would definitely recommend staying here. Very reasonable price. Unfortunately, we only had time to spend one night here; would have stayed much longer if our schedule allowed! Property was well looked after also!

Would definitely stay there again!

Stayed one night in this original coastal home with the third(?) generation residents/decedents. Helpful. Friendly. Accommodating. Like being home. Great location at the fork in the road and  easy to find. 
Wonderful for someone who loves nicknacks

Homestead Hospitality

This is an older inn, but well worth staying it. Its clean and the host are friendly. 
There is laundry facilities on site which is a bonus when traveling for weeks at a time.
Did I say the host were welcoming. The place is very clean and there's a deck with chairs to enjoy the beautiful view. Theres also a restaurant on site that serves great food.

Relaxing

Let me preface this by saying that we have stayed at over 8 lovely B&B’s over the past few years.  All have been lovely old restored homes with welcoming hosts/hostesses.  We lucked out with a private bath in all instances, but there were guest rooms that did share 1 bath among 2 rooms.  All of our stays provided shampoos/soaps, clean towels, clean and clutter free surroundings and locked rooms, not to mention exceptional breakfasts.  If this is what you are expecting here, you should look elsewhere.  The initial impression gave a hint of what was to follow.  The back yard was cluttered with old lawn/garden equipment long past their usefulness. There were NO locks on the bedroom doors, and an ill equipped bathroom to share with all of the guest rooms.  The ambiance was surely not one of welcome, especially when we realized it was cash only.  We paid for the room and found other accomodations for the night, fully expecting to sleep in the car as it was high season on the Island.

Don’t

I was amused to read the review of this B&B by a visitor from Chicago who warns about a shared bathroom and no keys to bedrooms. I just would say this: if you are worrying about modern furnishings, ensuite washrooms with rain showers, keys with deadbolt locks for your rooms, you'd be missing the point and should really be looking at trying to find a Westin or Meridien. In fact, you probably shouldn't be venturing out into Cape Breton at all, because places like that can't be found in the most spectacular areas of the island. But....if you want to spend time with real Cape Bretoners and enjoy some down home Cape Breton hospitality in a well-kept quaint old house in spectacular surroundings by the sea, then this is the place for you. Connie and Chuck, the proprietors, made us feel both welcome and comfortable. They're also very helpful with advice on travel throughout the region. Looking forward to our next stay!

Good times, pleasant stay...

Connie, Jeff, and Glenn were extremely hospitable. We really love staying in unique BnBs like this. The location is great and the place is easy to find. You wake up to a wonderful view of the ocean and the bridge. The owners really go out of their way to make sure the guests are comfortable. Just remember that they are welcoming guests into their home. :D Would love to go again.
