Fearing we wouldn't find anything to eat on the way to the Mauricie Park, we had lunch here but don't make the same mistake.

Go your way.

We thought we had a good local lunch, and it was disappointing. Seeing the map, my son and I had a hot dog, and even that was awfully hard to swallow. My husband tried the hot table formula and followed the waitress's recommendations, a serious mistake. He ended up with a turkey that looked like everything but this.

If you're desperate and there's nowhere else to feed...

We had dinner at this small, unpretentious restaurant and enjoyed our experience. We had chicken soup at the guest table. Very good soup at the entrance, good main meal. My husband took the guest table dessert (carrot cake) and liked it. I had a card dessert (chocolate crispy). Wow! the best chocolate dessert of my life. The price was very affordable. For the atmosphere, it's ordinary and there's no terrace to enjoy eating outdoors.

Restaurant when you're good at it

My opinion concerns only the restaurant whose motto could be: Fast done, bad done. This restaurant has the advantage of being well located at the corner of a strategic intersection and offering a faster service than the canteen... where you eat a sober and tasteless cuisine, where energy service lacks delicacy and maybe you know how to live! Just to eat on the road...

It's a restaurant like a canteen.

It's not a resort but a decent, clean and confortable motel of a small town. I slept there one night on a cycling tour of the lake. I choose this place because i made the reservation last minute and not much was available. I was kind of scared to see the motel at the end of my cycling day. 

Actualy i was relieve when i saw it. Its not beautiful or charming but clean, comfortable and recently redecorated. 

I would go back anytime. The personal was very helpful and nice. Actualy that was the nice waitress at the restaurant of the motel that receive us. She offered us to put the velo inside so they could be safe for the night. 

We ate at the restaurant which was good. There's not much more places to eat around. 



Good small town Motel

Nothing pleasant about this restaurant.The order is taken by a person who works in the kitchen.Lack of staff.The food is mediocre and the bill is too expensive...bad experience.

Three bad ones

Good quality price ratio, large and quiet room, Wifi over 20 Mbits, proper food at reasonable prices, close to the tourist attractions of Val Jalbert and St. Felix Zoo.

Stop by the motel Stop by Chambord

We spent 3 nights and we regretted booking there. Even though the website said we would have coffee, there was no coffee in the room. The receptionnist at our arrival was very unfriendly also. We can hear every move in other rooms which makes it very difficult to sleep. The air conditionning makes so much noise that we had to turn it off. Also, a phone book is used to level the bed. The water is yellow which makes the towels yellowish. No 24-hour service either. Aweful experience...I would prefer camping in a tent.

Not recommended

About 50 kms from Alma, this motel/restaurant is well located for the one day ride back to Alma, (depending on which direction one rides the tour around lac Saint-Jean.) 
We had made reservations while driving through Chambord on our way to Saint-Felicien, and were welcomed like old friends when we returned on our bikes for our stay. The motel part is your average accomodation, has all the conveniences you need for an overnight stay, without being opulent, and quite comfortable. The restaurant is the part we liked best. Quite good country type cooking, they serve the home-style tortiere that you have to try, and a fish filet that was very tasty. Other dishes seem equally interesting but we did not get to try all. Breakfast selection is also quite good, with the "healthy breakfast" including good portions of fruit and cottage cheese, nicely balanced. While French seems to be the language of choice,
no doubt English would work equally well, but note really sure.
