A perfect start to our tour of Canada! The Alexandre Logan was most welcoming, thanks especially to the very friendly chef, who prepared a delicious breakfast each morning. A spacious room with balcony and ensuite bathroom. The B&B is close to the Village, but also within easy reach of most other attractions (using the Bixi city bikes). We would certainly stay there again if we were to visit Montreal on another occasion.

The location is excellent.  Beaudry, Papineau, and Berry-UQAM metro stations nearby.  We wanted a traditional building.  Excellent!  Room #3 has siting room and big balcony.  Quiet neighborhood close to everything.  Lionel was a an excellent host!  Gourmet breakfast. Personal advice.  We enjoyed our stay sooooo much.  We will come back.  There is so much to do and see here.

What can I say about this wonderful B&B . We had a nice large room, room2.  It was really one of the nicest B & B’s we have stayed at.  The bathroom was very nice with a large shower. It is about a 20-30 min walk to old Montreal which is beautiful. We ubered everywhere. The parking was easy on Saturday although it could be confusing. Breakfast was awesome and love sitting at a little table with my GF. We will be back.

Loved our stay!

So let me start with it’s on street parking which, in Montreal,  you have to be very careful with that you’re in the right place with all the right posted signs. I’m pretty sure I drove the poor owner crazy with sending him pictures of “is this the right sign ? is this the right side ? am I OK to park here.”  The man has a lot of patience.  Overall the B&B was fantastic we had the room at the front with the veranda of our own. Our room was very small which is common in a big city, and it was a shared washroom facility. The place is very quiet so it’s not a big deal. Breakfast was fantastic and it’s well within walking distance to Subway the gay village and everything else and it’s a nice quiet street.  Of note, there is no reception so you are on your own with your codes to get in and find your key and get into your room. I’m sure this works 99% of the time.  The day we were there the street was shut down due to an emergency ( fire, police and ambulance)and we couldn’t actually get to the hotel so it does make it a bit awkward not having a reception desk but we got through it.  

Great B&B

The building was charming and kept immaculately. The other guests were quiet and everyone was very respectful and polite to each other. The host was incredible and very accommodating. The breakfast we had each morning was delicious and made with care and fresh ingredients. You can see the passion that was put into this place in every little detail. I highly recommend this B+B!

Amazing experience

These guys are pretty good with email - so if you book, check the email they send you a few days before your stay - it has all the info you need to get into your room. We were lucky in that we arrived when the manager was in, but even if we hadn’t, the email has it all!

I am not a B&B person - full service hotel all the way for me, when I was booking this segment of our trip hotel prices were high, so I had the option of booking Alexandre Logan with its fantastic location, or a larger hotel further out. With such good Tripadvisor reviews I decided to chance it and booked Alexandre Logan. 

Please note - Hotels.com claimed that all of the rooms are en-suite. Two (ours included) are not. I only realised this a few days before the trip (when I finally got around to reading the multiple emails which Alexandre Logan had sent to me directly - Hotels.com were still sending mail claiming a private bathroom). I also noticed that the room Hotels.com had described as a standard double was described by the hotel as a small double best suited to single occupancy. I was close to cancelling - but how had they got such great Tripadvisor reviews? 

Thank goodness we didn't cancel. Yeah the room is small for two people, but it’s big enough for two of us and luggage. The shared bathroom is a good size, immaculately clean, great pressure in the shower and shared by up to 4 people, but quite possibly just 2 if both of the “standard” rooms are single occupancy. There is Air Conditioning which is nearly silent, but slightly less powerful than I would expect - with temperatures outside in the low 30s and high humidity it was a godsend nonetheless! As you might expect in a building of this age, there aren't as many electrical points as you might desire, but I always travel with a power strip, so that was not an issue. Wifi was great later in our stay, but average at the beginning when I think there were more people staying.

On our first day we missed breakfast because we were up early and didn't want to wait. That was a mistake! On the second day we arrived expecting, that as per the only other B&B I had experienced in Canada, we would find some food in the fridge and sort ourselves out - Oh No! The manager was cooking and we were served juice & tea. A beautifully prepared bowl of yoghurt, fruit and granola then an amazingly presented and perfectly seasoned plate of scrambled eggs with turkey and sauteed vegetables.

There are some fantastic bars and restaurants within a five minute walk. This is Gaytown so some are more camp than others, but as a straight couple we never felt unwelcome (not that I had I expected us to). 

This place is great - if I am back in Montreal I will stay here for sure.
