That hostel is a dump, looks more like a homeless shelter than a youth hostel, they charge a buck for debit transactions, staff doesn't speak english or french, my worst experience ever, i saw a rat in the kitchen and the kitchen cleanliness left to be desired

Worst dump ever

My boyfriend spent a little over a month there. It is more of a shelter then a hostel. Lots of fights between clients, drunk ppl, and other horrible things and people. Wish I had room to write more!!😡

Very bad environment

Stayed for 2 days. Excellent value for the money. Nice staff. Clean place. Good location downtown. Close to public transportation. They responded to my questions prior to arrival. Good option if you are ok staying in a non-private bedroom.

Excellent Value!

Best value hostel in Montreal. The staff is really helpful and friendly.
The kitchen is accessible 24h which is nice if you are hungry after a night out.
Dorms are comfortable.
I definitely recommend this hostel.

A very peaceful and welcoming hostel

I had a very enjoyable stay at L'Apero. Stauff our very friendly, Beds our super comfy..Love the fact it's a small hostel, so you get a chance to actually chat with other travelers as opposed to some of the bigger hostels, where just giving a small nod or it can be to overwelming to meet people. Fully functional kitchen. Also great location, as it is right in the hear of Downtown Montreal. I would highly recommend staying there.

A cozy hostel with great staff and a good location.

The staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful. The woman at the front desk (I never got her name) was so quick to help with any problem or questions we had. When we asked her where she recommended we parked, she told us she'd let us park in the small employee parking lot. She then went out and moved her own car so that we could park there without having to move our own car!
The location of this place also could not be better! It's right in the downtown area and we were able to walk basically everywhere we went. There are also a number of pubs, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, and a dispensery nearby, so you're basically all set.
They also have a bunch of amenities like a kitchen, living room, printer, and washing machine. Each bed also came with a locker with a key, so you don't need to bring your own lock. The one problem is that there are not outlets by each bed, but there are many around the room. 
But overall, loved this place!

Great Location and Staff

Location was great, the bathrooms were very clean, the sheets were ok, good size lockers, the room was pleasant. Overall good hostel for staying a couple of days.

when you look at the building it looks bad, but it is ok. I'm not a big fan of not having 24h desk, but also not the end of the world. the beds individually should have a little shelf, especially the upper ones, with individual lights and light plug for your phone, pc, etc - this is very annoying to not have on the uper beds. there was so many staff living on the hostel that the kitchen was kind of a mess and I felt a bit intimidated/lost on the free breakfast, I kind of did not know what was for everyone and what was for the huge staff. moreover, the breakfast should offer some spreads beyond butter or peanut butter, I hate sweet breakfast so there was nothing in for me.
