I started going to the Grand Vic in July of 2016. I arrived and from that point on was hooked. Sam the Maine Coon greeted me on the veranda. Eva was welcoming, polite and gave a tour of rooms, time  breakfast is served (9:00) and the amenities.

The room (North Suite) was immaculate, the bathroom perfectly clean, and the food superb (the clafoutis is so good). There is a lot of history in the Grand Vic and and it is interesting to hear the stories of that old house (and an occasional spirit!), and Eva’s labor of love and lots of hard work to restore the Grand Vic to its glory.

Since then, it’s been a pleasure to be a return guest. Eva, Klaus from Reif, Bacchus and Pomona have always been cordial (the dogs more playful than cordial!). 

Simply put, the Grand Vic is the best bed and breakfast I and a friend have had the pleasure of staying at. From a bottle of waiting on arrival from an overseas flight to a departing gift of kindness, Eva is a caring soul.

To Eva, Klaus, the Grand Vic (and Reif) support staff, and Bacchus and Pomona - *thank you* for the excellent care while at the Grand Vic, and thank you for your kindness.

Simply the best.

I and my brother and sister in law spent three nights at this wonderful B&B Canadas thanksgiving weekend. The B&B was very clean and well kept.The host and owner Eva made us feel right at home.She took time out of her busy schedule to visit with us and engage in conversation. The breakfasts were very tasty and original. We will definitely put this on our list of B&B's to return to.

Top shelf hospitality

Living in Toronto my husband and I have been to the Niagara region many times. This past weekend we had the opportunity to host friends from South Carolina. The Grand Vic did not disappoint. The home is absolutely stunning with well appointed rooms and grounds. Anna’s breakfasts were incredible!  We will definitely visit again.

Perfect weekend getaway

We stayed here for 3 nights on a super quick get away and our complaint is that we wish had had more time. The house is beautiful, breakfast was fantastic, and the owners and staff are wonderful. We stayed in the river room which was comfortable and beautiful like the rest of the house. The sitting area outside the rooms with a huge variety of coffees, teas, and treats was such a nice touch. A great place to sit and relax and enjoy. There is also sitting ares on the main level which are great to spend some time and drink some wine. If your lucky the owners and the dogs will be around to visit with as well. 
The house is clean, comfortable, and welcoming and we could not have asked for a better homebase while exploring Niagara falls and Niagara on the lake.
We did a tasting at the winery next door and were treated like VIP by the staff there. We don't know much about wine so we just had alot of fun sampling all different kinds and bought a couple of bottles to enjoy at the house.
Hopefully we will find out way back here one day.

Wish we could have stayed longer

A step back in time, what a beautiful restored Victorian house. We only stayed one night and wished we would have had more time there. The breakfast was wonderful, and we loved sitting on the grand front porch and enjoying the sunset. The Inn is in an ideal location close to everything. Eva and staff were friendly and very helpful. We loved Eva and loved meeting her two "puppies". We will be back for another visit.

Beautiful BnB

From the moment we pulled into the drive it we obvious this would be a nice place to stay.  The house is grand and lovely.   A experience for senses.  It`s surrounded by a welll mainetained garden of flowers and trees.  The wood work throughout is amazing.  The hand carved mantle above the main fireplace was a work of art.  Everywhere you look antiques are placed to admire and use.   We stayed in the River Room at the front of the house on the second floor.  It was complete with a canopied, king size bed, fireplace, 4 piece bathroom and a sitting area.  The original stained glass windows brightened the room.

Breakfast time each morning was delicious.  I recommend sitting in the conservatory with the curved windows.  Dining with the other guests was a delight.  Everyone was so friendly.   It gave us a chance to talk and exchange ideas.  

Take advantage of the veranda where you can sit and talk, read a book,  take a nap, enjoy the view, you name it.  We also spotted bicycles to use. 

The staff was amazing.  Any concern was addressed.   The suggested nice places to eat and enjoy wine.  Enjoying wine was easy with the Reif Winery right next door.

New Favorite BnB

Eva, our host, did a wonderful job at restoring this home to its glory days. Everything was exceptional! The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast was out of this world, great location and superb customer service. We felt like part of the family. We will definitely be back. 

Step back through time 

We spent a night at the Grand Vic courtesy of our children, to celebrate our anniversary.  We really aren't B&B people....we thought we would feel a little uncomfortable in a stranger's home but we are converts after a night in this gorgeous home.  We kind of felt like we were staying at Downton Abbey!  The owner, Eva Kessel has done an exquisite job of restoring this beautiful mansion from the 1860s.  We were the only guests for the night and when we arrived we were given a tour and invited to choose any of the 6 rooms  It was difficult as they are all beautifully appointed and furnished with period pieces.  There is a card in every room describing the objects in the room and where they came from.  Eva was not in when we arrived but we were welcomed by Ana and given a room key and key to the front door, to come and go as we pleased.  We wandered next door to Reif winery and had a wine and cheese tasting with Keith who was an excellent host, after which we toured the downtown.  Breakfast the next morning was incredible and set out as a buffet (just for 2) in the beautiful conservatory off the dining room.  Eva came and chatted with us about the restoration and how they have now bought another home to do the same again  (only half the size of the Grand Vic).  We also met her 2 wolfhounds, Bacchus and Pomona, lovely gentle giants..

For our first B&B experience I fear the bar has been raised to rather lofty heights and we won't be satisfied with a lesser experience!

Lovely stay in an exquisite Victorian mansion!

Stayed at the Grand Victorian this past weekend with my girlfriend and were not disappointed whatsoever. We were greeted by Justin, who was very accommodating and went through some of the house's amenities, as well as a run down of the house's history. Rooms were spacious, cozy, spotless, and filled with period furniture that added to the ambiance. The following morning we were greeted by Eva, the property owner, with breakfast, which was delicious and filling. Cannot say enough good things about Eva, the rest of her staff, and the Grand Victorian! Will definitely be back soon!

Beautiful 18th Century Home - Excellent Service

My fiance and I decided to stay at the Grand Vic for our anniversary and what a fantastic place to stay!! We have not recieved such a warm welcome from people we had never met. We felt like family as soon as we met Eva. She is the biggest sweetheart. Her dogs Pomona and Bacchus are giant heart-melters. They just sit and want pats and body rubs, and cuddles. 

 We stayed in the lovely North Suite. Everything is absolutely charming. The whole place is clean and smells so good! The beds are warm and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and there is so much variety. From fruits, to warm fresh baked pastries, to cheeses and deli meats, and an assortment of breakfast drinks. 

 Booking is the easiest process ever, with a calendar on the website that states what days are booked and what days are open, at which room. 

 Amazing B&B to stay whether you're local and need some R&R, or from out of town to see the sights. Definitely recommend, we will be returning!
