An incredible experience from the decor to the incredible room. Most comfortable bed and sheets you will want to purchase. Thank you to our hosts for being so gracious. My husband and I were fortunate enough to have the B&B to ourselves where we were treated like family. Look forward to next time...

Exquisite Rooms and Most Gracious Hosts

Fabulous weekend at Lakewinds! It was leisurely, laidback and luxurious. The room was beautiful, comfortable and showed an absolute attention to detail. We look forward to our next visit. Thelma and Steve are gracious hosts and have a great knowledge of the area. Highly recommended!

Perfect weekend escape

We stayed at Lakewinds the same week the same room for over a dozen years Every year when we checked out we renewed for the following year We did the same when we checked out this September and twice received written confirmations for 2020 Then 3 weeks later we were informed that our room had allegedly been rented before we renewed and our confirmation would not be honored No explanation was given as to why we not advised of this situation when we renewed or when we subsequently were sent confirmations Another guest was also bumped for the same week We also were informed that the new owners of Lakewinds are no longer members of the Niagara-on-The-Lake B&B Association They must believe this gives them license to act unprofessionally and mistreat long standing guests

Lovely location just a few minutes from the main town.
We stayed in the Gustav room, very spacious lovely bed.
Big bathroom with separate jacuzzi bath.
Breakfast was just perfect couldn’t fault a thing. Homemade specials each morning plus fruit and pastries.
There was a pool but unfortunately it was a little murky from a storm so we felt like we didn’t want to use it, I think a cover is required to keep it cleaner but that’s just an idea from me.
The hosts are English and very nice , they will give you a lot of info on how to get about and what to do if you ask.
Bottles of water and drinks also goodies available throughout the day on a help yourself basis which I just love.
All in all a very good stay and would return and will recommend it.
Renovations are happening through out the winter/quieter season so I would only hope it would be even better next year.


Great stay

We were at Lakewinds Friday night and Saturday night so that we could attend the Peach Festival. The Lakewinds hosts, Steve and Thelma, were very welcoming and friendly. You were made to feel at home immediately upon arrival. The room (the Gustav suite) was the nicest room we have stayed in at Niagara on the Lake over the past 19 years. It was so spacious, light, comfortable, and we enjoyed the big spa tub and separate toilet/bath areas, the huge comfortable king size bed, and the upholstered rocking chairs facing the television and the front windows. The complimentary water and coffee was also appreciated. As for the breakfasts (we had two mornings there), they were excellent, and they offer vegan, gluten free and lactose intolerant options. What I liked about breakfast was that it was buffet style, so you could take as little or as much as you wanted. The location is just outside of the main downtown, across from the golf course, overlooking the lake... absolutely beautiful and so peaceful!! We are definitely going to be staying there again!

Great place to stay!

My fiancée lucked out and secured a last minute booking at Lakewinds Country Manor as a surprise birthday gift for me. The 5 star reviews we saw on here could not have been more accurate. The house is lovely and is in a great location across from the golf course and only a few short blocks to downtown.  Our room (The Conrad) was gorgeous with a beautiful new bathroom and is well appointed with shampoos and lotions so good that we had to buy some to bring home. We spent 2 afternoons lounging by the pool before strolling back downtown for dinner and then returned to sit and relax on the beautiful and large front porch.  On the first night Steve secured a reservation at Treadwell’s for us which we desperately wanted to get to but we’re unable to get a table. Within 10 minutes of arriving he called in a favour and got us a table. It was an excellent meal and we couldn’t be more thankful for Steve’s hospitality. Thelma provided us with the names of 2 cookbooks they use regularly after we commented on how delicious the breakfasts were. And we also visited her store to bring some mementoes and gifts home for family. We will definitely return and could not think of a better spot to stay.

Birthday Getaway

I had very high hopes for this property as it received GREAT reviews and the photos made it look amazing however...we were disappointed. 
Some pros...the staff were very friendly and pleasant.  The rooms were very clean and the bathroom was very nice. The location is great - away from the downtown rush, sits on a beautiful piece of property and you can feel the breeze from the lake. 
Cons...the property is unfinished and I think for the money that is being paid, it should have been finished and better kept.  The pool did not looking appealing to swim in as the water was murky - it is a beautiful pool and it being a hot day we were so looking foward to going for a swim but could not bring ourselves to get in.  There were great reviews on the breakfast especially... the dining room area was nice and bright but the food was average and a little on the cool side (was expecting a hot breakfast) - nothing special. 

Overall it is a nice place but the way that people went on about it in reviews and the cost to stay here - definitely does not measure up in my opinion. 
I would say it is overrated, I would say NOTL itself is very overrated.

Expectations were not met

We just stayed at the Lakewinds Country Manor for our wedding Anniversary.  Steve and Thelma are the nicest couple originally from the Isle of Man.  They couldn’t have been nicer, the B&B was beautiful, comfortable and in a perfect location across from a golf course and river. Downtown was within a couple of blocks walking distance.

Our last day we had to leave earlier than breakfast was being served so Thelma made us BLT’s to go.  Totally unnecessary but greatly appreciated.

We will return someday hopefully in the summer or fall when we can experience the true beauty of the area.

Anniversary 

We stayed at Lakewinds for our anniversary last month. All of the positive comments in recent reviews are much deserved. The new owners, Steve and Thelma, and the staff, made us feel right at home and couldn't have been more accommodating. 

We also stayed at Lakewinds in 2017. Although Steve and Thelma just became owners last March, it is amazing the improvements that have been accomplished since then. 

We look forward to visiting frequently in the future.

Lakewinds Country Manor is a Very Special Place

My wife Cheryl and I, had a wonderful time during our two-night stay at this B&B recently. Thelma, and Steve, were the perfect hosts. They offered us many suggestions on places to eat, shop, and nearby activities. We also loved hearing the stories of their experiences in other countries.  As well as how they came about to be the owners of this beautiful property. They purchased the B&B in March of this year, and have been very busy making upgrades and improvements to the grounds and house. The location is on Queen St. across from the golf course. It is just far enough out of town to enjoy some peace and quiet, but close enough for a short 8-10 minute walk into the town center. Our room (Kathryn), on the second floor was very clean and spacious. The full buffet style breakfast which was provided each morning was always delicious and well thought out. There is also a warm built-in pool to the rear of the house, for those wanting to take a swim. Our favorite thing to do was to just relax on the beautiful, and spacious wrap around front porch with a drink, and a good book. Thelma and Steve were very gracious, and always made us feel at home. Steve has many ideas for future plans for this property, and we will be returning next summer to see what he has done. We highly recommend the “Lakewinds Country Manor” B&B to anyone wishing to enjoy a wonderful time in NOTL. I know you won’t be disappointed!
