We mainly used this motel as a place to sleep as we had plans out & about in Niagara Falls.  Yes it's on a busy street, but after 9pm, maybe 10pm, the noise died down quite a bit.  Easy to get to, once  you get off the QEW.  Didn't really interact w/front desk as we did a late check in so I can't comment there.  Bed was comfy, pillows were alright.  Room was perfect size for just me and my husband.  Close to restaurants & a grocery store couple blocks away.  Price was amazing considering it was summer time in Niagara Falls. We paid $330, after taxes etc... for 2 nights, and that's what A LOT of hotels down there charges for 1 night before taxes etc...  I only heard our neighbours for about 15 minutes on our second night, otherwise didn't hear anyone.

The room was clean and comfortable.King size bed comfortable,Tv with most channels.Garry did all he could to satisfy our needs.A little noisy since near a street with traffic.Air conditionning was on and off since it is central for all units.But Garry(the owner)did is best to make us feel cool.

Nice for the price

My 2 night stay at the Rex Motel last week was fabulous! Gary the owner is very hospitable  and gracious! My room was super clean, the bed very comfortable. The price can't be beat. Great location and all amenities are close by. I would recommend the Rex Motel to anyone!

Yes you should choose The Rex Motel

Good - Motel has been renovated.   Everything is relatively new.  Large window for room.  Bed was comfortable.  Room had good aesthetics with updated touches for furniture.  

The Bad - Unfortunately, the Bad is the owners removed all  the air conditioners (A/C) from the hotel rooms.  Consequently, the room was uncomfortable because it got hot and humid in October.  This leads to the Ugly.

The Ugly - As the window had to be left open.  The motel is on McLeod Road, which is a very busy street.  So, because the window had to be left open I could hear road noise all day and more importantly all night.  Was even woken up early in the morning by the back up sounds of a garbage truck.  I made the mistake of not double checking if the motel had A/C, as 99.99 % of every hotel / motel I have ever stayed in, A/C is always available.   This is a penny wise and pound foolish move, as the southern Ontario summers are extremely hot and humid.  This motel will definitely suck in the summer time.  To give some credit to the establishment, a fan was made available in the room, although it is NOT a replacement for A/C.  

Holes were cut into the walls (exterior and interior) and a vent grill was placed over to hole to try to improve circulation. Again, this is not a substitute to provide A/C.  

And, this brings up the next issue, is there any heat in the winter time?  I assume a space heater will be provided?

Wifi was weak and kept cutting out.   Could not even stream music on the phone, which uses very little bandwith and works with the slowest internet.   Had to use my own wireless data from my cellular phone.  

No towel rack to hang towels.   (Definitely an overlooked detail when they renovated).  

******MOST IMPORTANT criticism ****
I had a two night stay and after the first night, there was no room service provided.  Garbage was not picked up and built up over 2 days.  Sheets were not changed.  Fresh towels were not provided*****

For almost $100/night I expect a certain level of room service to be provided.  This is completely UNACCEPTABLE.  If I wanted to provide my own room service, then I would rent from an AirBnb where the lower price justifies a lower level of service.

No Air Conditioning, No Room Service, Poor WIFI  - Does not meet the expectations of paying $100/night

Rooms smell and this place has an infestation of bedbugs  The staff are very rude and unwelcoming   The internet is slow not a pleasant experience staying here This place is not a family place   carpets are dirty and have fleas  cost a lot of money for medication from all the bedbug bites

Do not stay here !!!!

Went on a little getaway with my husband for his birthday. We booked 3 night and ended booking another night. Cleanest room that we ever have stayed in. The owners Gary and Elaine are very caring and hardworking people. Great prices and good location. We will definitely be back!

5 stars , cleanest motel and least expensive in the Niagara Falls Canada

We went to Niagara Falls for our anniversary, and chose this motel because of the great price & free parking. It was a nice stay. We had room 4, a teal/nautical themed room. The room was clean, and had a microwave and mini-fridge. The bathroom was clean too, but did not have a fan, only a small window to open. One downsides to staying here: it's very noisy. The road out front is busy, and the walls are thin. Also, parking is free, but it's not close enough to the Falls to walk. We were able to find affordable parking in town though, so this wasn't a big deal. The gentleman that checked us in was very friendly, and told us the best sights (aside from the obvious!) to see & where to park. Given the prices of other hotels in the area, we would stay here again.

Great Price! Nice enough motel, short drive to Falls

I was looking for an affordable place to stay for the weekend in Niagara Falls. Fortunately I chose the Rex Motel.  We took the go train from Toronto. Then the local city bus with one transfer. Bus stop was about a 10 minute walk to the motel.  If you have a vehicle the motel offers free parking. Very convenient to the motel are 2 convenience stores and a diner restaurant for breakfast, tho we skipped breakfast. One minute walk. The Wego bus stop was about a 10-15 minute walk.  We were very happy to be welcomed by Gary, we rang the bell as we arrived after the office was closed but as he lives right behind the office he was available at this time. You will not find a nicer person than Gary. Our room was cozy, extremely clean. Bed comfy, lots of pillows. Free WiFi was great. Larger size fridge, coffee maker and microwave. If you plan to bring food, bring a few utensils (forks, etc). We ate at a very good local restaurant ( off the beaten path) where prices were reasonable and food good. It’s a Mediterranean restaurant called The Kasbah. The walk back to the hotel was about 15 minutes. We were so full the walk was nice. I will review the restaurant separately.  I highly recommend The Rex Motel if you are a budget conscious traveler who doesn’t need luxury. It’s very clean, and Gary is an outstanding host. 

Lovely place, great service and very clean!

This is not a high end hotel but it's very clean and recently renovated.    It costs fractions of what you would pay near the core.    The owner is exceptional and remembers every conversation.   I was limited in my original booking but didn't want to pay 3x what hotels were asking on the weekend I went.    I called the hotel and spoke to the owner and he said he would make a change if it became available  (I DIDNT BELIEVE HE WOULD)….. he called back a week later and confirmed the change because he had a cancellation.      checked in a month later and gave him my name..... oh yes, I remember you requested a change and so you are all set up as you requested..... I was floored.     most people forget your name and he remembered the conversation.    if you want value, this is a great place.    he also gave an amazing recommendation to a local bar within walking distance where we saw the Raptors beat the Warriors in the playoffs (the Eager Beaver is another great bar if you want value and it's less than a km from the hotel)....... if the rating was just on value, this place would be a 6
