Hubby and I realized early Aug we had 3 days off together after working non-stop since the onset of COVID. As this is our first experience with a B&B we were looking for 3 things. Private entrance, King room with a view and a porch to sit out on and enjoy a glass of wine. We were so excited to book the Lion's Head. I had no issues at all booking through their own website for Sept 14-16th and received a reservation confirmation right away. I called a week before travel to inquire if we could also stay the night of the 13th, and was promptly informed they had been closed since mid-March. We were very disappointed and upset finding this out a week prior to our stay. I did not receive any type of cancellation via email, and their own website did not indicate that they were closed. Thankfully, Sterling Inn and Spa came to our rescue. This will be our first and last attempt at staying at a B&B.

Very Dissapointed.

I bought my parents a two night stay here as a retirement gift/birthday present. They said they had a great time. They said the room was big and spacious and they said the gourmet breakfast was definitely way better than they expected. My parents loved the owner Damian and his family along with the atmosphere there and they said they would 10/10 go again. They said they became close with other couples that spent the weekend there and I believe they have already begun planning a trip to go there again in the new year. My parents had zero complaints and they are usually pretty picky when it comes to places like this. I would 10/10 recommend it for anyone going to the Niagara Falls area. Damian made my dad feel like a celebrity (more specifically the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers) and even had a special song and dance for his birthday.

MY PARENTS LOVED IT!!

Let me first say that we didn't stay here due to circumstances beyond our control. We were involved in a boat fire. Lion's Head is probably a lovely place, which is why we booked it through Booking.com. Three days before our check-in, the boat we rented caught fire and we lost everything except the clothes on our backs. Included was my husband's passport. I carry mine in my purse. We are USA citizens. I immediately called Lion's Head to let them know that we couldn't make it up there and said we needed to cancel. She, the owner, told me that we could not cancel and would be charged the full amount. She actually charged us after the call, before we were supposed to even arrive. Getting home, we asked our credit card company to dispute it. We lost due to the cancellation policy. Now I understand the need for policies. It's a loss of money to them. That said, sometimes 'things' happen. In our case, a fire in which we lost everything...including $850.43 that Lion's Head charged us. My point: Be careful when you book anywhere. Lion's Head could have been charitable and charged us nothing, or one night. Lion's Head told me that we had to call Booking.com b/c they collected the money. Booking.com told me that I had to deal with the vendor. Back and forth. Back and forth. Just be careful!

Be careful when making a reservation.

After another reservation at another resort falling through at the last minute, we found the Lion's Head and decided to give it a try and save our trip which was in danger of being totally ruined.
At the Lions Head, we found incredibly gracious hosts, a beautiful house both inside and out and a cozy room that was elegantly decorated and had a VERY comfy bed. A great getaway from the chaos (construction) that we are surrounded by at home in Toronto. The sit-down scratch-made, gourmet breakfasts that were included were worth the price alone. We will be going back, and we highly suggest you book this B&B! A wonderful 4 days! So glad we found them! The photos are not doctored! The Lions Head is as shown :) 

Elegant, Cozy, and Welcoming B&B

Rooms were clean and decorated nicely with very comfortable beds and luxurious sheets, updated baths with quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. Breakfast table was set beautifully every morning with exceptional food prepared by our host, Damien along with Melissa who was attentive to our requests.  They both engaged easily and were very helpful in helping us with local information. They allowed us to use a refrigerator for our drinks and we felt at home to play cards in the common area.  The one thing I was missing was an early morning cup of coffee.  A central area with a Keurig or something similar would have been a welcome site!

Worth a second visit

Stayed for  4 nights in mid September and the location met all our needs.  Walking distance to the falls  and a short drive  to take in various wine tastings in the Niagara-on-the-Lake area. Helena’s breakfast’s were excellent and she is fountain of knowledge about where to go and what to do.

Great Location with great Breakfasts 

First I would like to say I rely on TripAdvisor reviews when I make important travel choices.  I am the "least" likely to ever complain as I am very easy going.  This vacation with my 2 adult daughters (one special needs) was very special.  After a long drive we arrived early (where I understand our room was not ready) my adult daughter on the Autism spectrum asked politely if she could use the bathroom and was told the bathroom belonged to someone else and could not use.  I politely asked when our room would be ready and was told 4pm is the check in time and after 21 years she does not "do rooms" anymore and needs to wait for the cleaning staff to arrive.  I asked for recommendations on where to go and was told to go to Niagara on the lake (which was very nice) but a 20 minute drive.  I told Helena (the owner) that we need to make sure we check in promptly as we have an early tour in the morning where our pickup time is at 915am.  She immediately told us that we would miss breakfast as she promptly serves at 9am.  Some suggestions to Helena the owner.  She could have made our stay so much nicer by giving us a "warm" welcome.  Let my daughters use a bathroom.  Offer to keep our luggage on hand while waiting for check in.  We boarded our bus for the tour hungry without anything to eat.  Perhaps a "to go" muffin or coffee would have made our morning so much more enjoyable.  it is the little touches that go a long way with hospitality!  I had to make sure the next family that wants to confirm a special getaway has an honest rating of this B & B.  In my opinion, the Niagara Falls App gave a warmer welcome!

Honest opinion of recent experience

So glad we stayed here instead of one of the big hotels down the street. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Free onsite parking. Fifteen minute walk to the falls. Helena was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us many good suggestions. Delicious breakfast.  Would definitely recommend. 

Comfortable B & B walking distance to Niagara Falls

This was my first time at a B&B and it did not disappoint.  The house is super charming.  Our room was very comfortable and clean.  Breakfast was served family style promptly at 9 am every morning and was delicious and unique.  It was great getting to meet and chat with the other guests and Helena.  She had a lot of interesting and funny stories to tell.  

There is a lovely porch to sit outside with a glass of wine with a view of the river across the street.  The B&B is located on a main road but the traffic noise didn't bother us.

We were within a few blocks of a WeGo bus stop which made getting around to the attractions really easy.  If you want to go to Niagara on the Lake, you will need to drive yourself.

We brought a cooler to have ice and cold drinks.   

I would definitely visit here again.  Thanks Helena!

Great First B&B Experience

My first B&B experience and because of it, it will not be my last. For the price  (cheaper than nearby hotels) you get a clean and unique room. Each morning breakfast is served with a warm smile, great stories, a table full of fellow travelers,  and wonderful advise to start your day. It is a little walk from the center of all the tourist attractions, but only a few steps from one of the bus stops, we chose to walk since the weather was in our favor. There was parking out back, and the house as a whole is amazing. Thank you for having us!
