Location is great but rooms are in dire need of renovation. It felt like I was staying at a dirty motel. See pictures for stained carpet, dirty walls, broken shelf. Love vintage inns but this was not acceptable for a price tag of $270 night. We were only here to sleep and it was good that we did not spend much time in the room.

Dirty and not well taken care of

the most horrific experiences of all my travels and dealing with unprofessional and very rude management ! cancelled two weeks before date and they would not accept my cancellation and said they are charging me in full several phone calls with their staff incompetent unprofessional!.. too many good choices to stay at in Niagara on the lake -pass on this!!!!!

Beautifully renovated and exceptional staff.
The hotel is located perfectly. We were close enough to walk to everything but in  a quieter, peaceful area.
Parking was included which was a bonus.
24 hour concierge was very helpful.

Pleasantly surprised

I enjoyed the warm welcome from the front desk at The Moffat Inn, the front entrance lounge, the clean room, the private garden area and the proximity to the Prince of Whales where we enjoyed breakfast and the use of their facilities. Excellent value to your stay.

Excellent value

We have been going to the Moffatt in for 24 years.  It is our start to the Christmas Season!  Love rooms 227/225 and the Mirabella Suite!  Lovely staff, beautiful rooms.  Walking distance to everything in NOTL.  They decorate the Inn beautifully.

Holiday Tradition

Avoid at all costs. If you like sleeping in dusty, musty, and spider filled rooms with some of the dirtiest carpets I have had the displeasure of walking on then this is your hotel. No clock radio, two coffee pods and no sugar, stir sticks or tea bags. 

Smells like an old flea market. 

We received excellent customer service from COLIN on the front desk.  Upon arrival, the mustiness of the hotel lobby and our rooms triggered an allergic response.  I agree with the other reviews - the rooms I saw and the lobby are in dire need of a reno.   However, the service we received from Colin was excellent.  He listened to our concerns, he was always polite never defensive, and went out his way to help us find other accommodation for the night.  When none of  the hotels in the Vintage Inn chains  had a room, he even reached out to other hotels on our behalf.  He was patient, polite, helpful and an excellent example of customer service, going above and beyond for the customer. I will return to the Moffatt after the scheduled renos are completed.

Above and Beyond Service by Colin

The day before our arrival, we learned that we had lost our reservation for a room at the Moffat Inn due to an error by Booking.com. This could have been a disaster, but the Moffat Inn supervisor helped to save the day. She arranged for us to secure a room at the Shaw Club for the same price as the quoted price for our room at Moffat Inn. The two hotels worked smoothly together and even surprised us with a bottle of wine on the house for our trouble. What could have been a disaster turned out to be the wonderful weekend we had been looking forward to. Thanks to all who made this possible. 

Disaster Averted

The room smelled like a combination of urine and musty.  The bed had a mattress topper which would not stay in place because they did not use a fitted sheet for the mattress.  The exhaust fan in the bathroom was broken. The bathroom walls had splatter of dirt on them.  The hotel needs updating and a thorough cleaning.  
We wanted to change to a different room but there was no one at the front desk to speak to.  Looking at other reviews, there are some reviews stating a musty odour, so not sure if it’s just the one room?  But they should really get this looked at!!!  
Should have spent the extra money and stayed at Queens Landing!

Disgusting!!

In the autumn of 2023, we found the foyer and halls of this historic hostelry in the course of (well overdue) refurbishment, but the rooms nicely spruced up – hence presumably the widely mixed reviews during the transition. The location couldn't be better for the Shaw Festival theatres, shopping streets and restaurants of the town, all within easy walking distance. We also soon appreciated the parking lot, seeing the competition for space elsewhere. 

Even facing the main drag, with the windows open, the room was wonderfully quiet. We could only have done with fewer of that plague of modern interior design, the overstuffed throw pillow, and a full-length mirror, but the refurb wasn't finished so that may be yet to come.

The staff were all very friendly and obliging, and certainly encouraged us to come again.
