Avoid at all costs. If you like sleeping in dusty, musty, and spider filled rooms with some of the dirtiest carpets I have had the displeasure of walking on then this is your hotel. No clock radio, two coffee pods and no sugar, stir sticks or tea bags. 

Smells like an old flea market. 

We received excellent customer service from COLIN on the front desk.  Upon arrival, the mustiness of the hotel lobby and our rooms triggered an allergic response.  I agree with the other reviews - the rooms I saw and the lobby are in dire need of a reno.   However, the service we received from Colin was excellent.  He listened to our concerns, he was always polite never defensive, and went out his way to help us find other accommodation for the night.  When none of  the hotels in the Vintage Inn chains  had a room, he even reached out to other hotels on our behalf.  He was patient, polite, helpful and an excellent example of customer service, going above and beyond for the customer. I will return to the Moffatt after the scheduled renos are completed.

Above and Beyond Service by Colin

The day before our arrival, we learned that we had lost our reservation for a room at the Moffat Inn due to an error by Booking.com. This could have been a disaster, but the Moffat Inn supervisor helped to save the day. She arranged for us to secure a room at the Shaw Club for the same price as the quoted price for our room at Moffat Inn. The two hotels worked smoothly together and even surprised us with a bottle of wine on the house for our trouble. What could have been a disaster turned out to be the wonderful weekend we had been looking forward to. Thanks to all who made this possible. 

Disaster Averted

The room smelled like a combination of urine and musty.  The bed had a mattress topper which would not stay in place because they did not use a fitted sheet for the mattress.  The exhaust fan in the bathroom was broken. The bathroom walls had splatter of dirt on them.  The hotel needs updating and a thorough cleaning.  
We wanted to change to a different room but there was no one at the front desk to speak to.  Looking at other reviews, there are some reviews stating a musty odour, so not sure if it’s just the one room?  But they should really get this looked at!!!  
Should have spent the extra money and stayed at Queens Landing!

Disgusting!!

In the autumn of 2023, we found the foyer and halls of this historic hostelry in the course of (well overdue) refurbishment, but the rooms nicely spruced up – hence presumably the widely mixed reviews during the transition. The location couldn't be better for the Shaw Festival theatres, shopping streets and restaurants of the town, all within easy walking distance. We also soon appreciated the parking lot, seeing the competition for space elsewhere. 

Even facing the main drag, with the windows open, the room was wonderfully quiet. We could only have done with fewer of that plague of modern interior design, the overstuffed throw pillow, and a full-length mirror, but the refurb wasn't finished so that may be yet to come.

The staff were all very friendly and obliging, and certainly encouraged us to come again.

Ideal location, comfortable rooms

Don't bother. One of the most disappointing experiences in a hotel I've ever had. Staff is great but that's about it. It stinks of musty carpet and stale food. Thin stained carpet and 1980s grandma decor and to get to the room you had to navigate through a narrow maze of corridors. Ivy from the outside growing through the door on one level just shows overall neglect.
Beds were very uncomfortable. We bought a room spray in downtown to combat the stink.The bathrooms in our suite were ridiculously tiny with a corner plastic shower you could hardly turn around in. Lukewarm water in the morning. Hole in the wall. Our balcony was dirty and unsafe.
Would never stay here again even at 1/2 the price. Cheap motel experience ugh. Run away from the Moffatt Inn


Avoid this dump

First impression was terrible.  Lobby and guest room corridors smelled bad musty, felt damp, looked dingy.
The hotel main entrance was difficult to maneuver - pull door swing on an inadequate sized stair landing.  Carpet was very old, worn and badly stained, furniture in lobby needs to be replaced (stained and cracked faux leather), walls need to be painted - not a proper representation on the infamous Vintage Hotels.  Website photos are not representative.  Guest room sofa and lounge chair with vinyl seat and back cushions reupholstered - I felt like I was visiting my grandmother is a assisted living facility. Uncomfortable beds.  Stained carpet.  Not elegant, quaint or comfortable.  Vending machine was out of order.  Our "patio" was a small table and two chairs - very dirty, overlooking the parking lot. 
Definitely not worth the price........  

Moffat Inn needs to be renovated.  Increase your budget and stay at Prince of Whales or Queens Landing

We decided at the last minute to make a trio to NOTL and wanted to stay in one of the Vintage properties. The bigger hotels were fully booked but we got a lovely room at the Moffatt, and it was perfect for our needs. We had a deluxe room, just right for two people. The room was spot It's less than a minute's walk to their Prince of Wales, where we had our dinner and breakfast. Great value for money.

Affordable, charming and convenient

We had two days in the Mirabella Suite. Spacious and nicely decorated.  Fully equipped kitchen with a door out to our own rooftop deck.  Exceptionally clean and attention paid immediately when one of the bedroom TV's cable box was wonky.  Replaced and set up within 10 minutes!  Friendly staff. Would definitely reco to friends!

2 Day Getaway

We stayed at the Moffat Inn for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted at the front desk, checked in and received our key. 
Our room was on the second floor, which was fine for us, but anyone with mobility issues may find booking on the first floor is best. 
Our room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated in keeping with the Vintage Hotel vibe. The bathroom was roomy, though a bit worn looking, but had everything you need including some toiletries, and a hair dryer. 
We had two double beds as well as a pullout couch in the sitting area, that also had a comfy arm chair. 
Overall we were very pleased with the room. It was quiet at night, which was great for sleeping, and  the beds were comfortable, though I would have preferred a firmer mattress. 
The room provides a coffee maker with coffee pods, tea, powdered creamer and sugars. There was a mini fridge in the room too which would be very handy. 
The Moffat is located on the main street , a pleasant stroll to restaurants, shops and theatres. 
The Moffat also offers free parking in back, which we found very convenient.
I would stay at the Moffat Inn again when in NOTL.
