Mighty of been a lovely stay but we were made to feel unwelcome before arrival.  The preference is for visitors who have taken vaccines.  As we did not disclose our medical history then we were told we would not feel comfortable and suggested we cancel our reservation. We should have been allowed to decide whether we feel comfortable or not wearing a mask which is the expected protocol advertised on their site anyway.  All we wanted was a place to stay overnight. No offer was made to serve breakfast on a tray in keeping with distancing protocols. By the way we were fine with no breakfast as we would of preferred grabbing it on the go. There was no mention of their preference on the website perhaps because that would be discrimination.

We cancelled our reservation not because of being discriminated against but in the end our date didn't work.

Unwelcoming before arrival

Stayed for one night on our cycling tour of the Niagara region. Jane is a really engaging host and one excellent breakfast cook (beautiful omelette!). She wrapped some of her delicious apple cake for us to take for the next day's cycling. Room was very comfortable, garden was exquisite and bikes were safely locked in the garage. Would absolutely stay again on the next ride that takes us this way.

Great location, breakfast and host

We had an excellent stay for 2 nights and the pergola and gardens were so beautiful to enjoy when outside. The room was very clean and well maintained and Jane is a warm and welcoming host. Excellent breakfasts, you could skip lunch that day and be just fine ;)

Cozy hospitality

My husband and I spent a night here and we loved it ! Quiet street , beautiful grounds , comfortable bed , excellent food and an amazing host !!! We would definitely recommend a visit here ! Absolutely nothing negative at all to say about this lovely home and host !!!! 

Lovely little gem 

My husband and I booked into Dover House last week for 3 delightful days.  Jane, our host, was warm and very welcoming.  She took the time to get to know us.  Her home is gorgeous and our room was very comfortable and quiet.  Her breakfasts were outstanding and delicious.  The best french toast ever!!!  The gazebo in her yard was my favourite place as it was where I could retire and read.  It was delightful to watch the monarchs circle around the milkweeds in her garden.  Should the opportunity present itself we would most definitely return!!

Most Excellent!!

I do NOT recommend this place at all.  This was supposed to be my first bed and breakfast experience. We arrived in the city around 2 pm, all tired and my 2 kids (2.5 years and 8 years) could not wait to check in and have a rest. I decided to call the owner Jane and inquire about early check in. She said 3 pm is the earliest. We stayed around 50 mins in town and arrived at Bed and Breakfast location around 2:50, and I entered the building and let her know that we are here and ready to check in when she is ready. What Jane said "You are early, you and I have had this conversation numerous times that I cannot have you checked in earlier than 3 pm, I was busy since morning, just myself and my housekeeper had a lot to do, many guests to feed, I also had to visit my mom……."Overall very negative tone conversation, to me it was very upsetting. I left the building and decided to stay close to my car till she gets ready. I was talking to my wife, suddenly Jane arrived and in a very aggressive tone she said "…. I cannot TRUST you following the protocols….. And I am happy to return your money and cancel your booking……". I was shocked with this conversation, I am confident that as a professional healthcare worker I know all the safety protocols very well.  I was so upset knowing the fact that I had to find a new place and my kids were tired and hungry, and my wife and I were so looking forward to this vacation after many months of working during COVID as a healthcare professional. We ended up finding a place after 3 hours, so tired, upset and exhausted.   As a summary, I do not recommend this place to anyone, I cannot comment about the rooms as we did not check in, but the entrance and living rooms were not acceptable to me. The patio looked OK. Anyway I am happy that we did not stay there.  My final message: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Terrible Experience

Lovely venue,short walk into town or drive to Erie beaches ie turkey point 
Nice   outside sitting area, quiet, private rooms  you do not hear other patrons during your stay 
Host available for recommendations,  makes sure you’re comfortable, and a deluxe breakfast. 
Jane is present without interfering
Property is clean, private and in a nice location to explore Port Dover and the vicinity.
Small fridge in room a nice touch 
Covid restrictions, did not take away from the character of the b&b, well thought out and practiced 
Great value, ideal for a short term or extended stay, recommend 



Nice retreat

Exceptional. If I could rate this gem a 10, I would. What a treat. It felt as if you we were transported to old english times from the perspective of the beautiful gardens, gazebo, magical touches, and the breakfast (oh, the breakfast!!). The Innkeeper, Jane is the quintessential host - supreme. I've travelled all over the world and truly, you just need to look in your own backyard to be treated so well. Thank you for creating the magic, Jane. We so look forward to visiting you again.

Exceptional

My husband & I stayed at this delightful B&B whilst exploring Port Dover. Jane is warm and welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We stayed in the lovely Master Bedroom which had a very comfortable bed and an ensuite bathroom. I cannot say enough about the delicious and bountiful breakfast. We look forward to a return visit to Dover House B&B.

Fantastic B&B

Second visit to Dover House - this time in the middle of summer and was able to view the beautiful gardens and see the lovely home at it’s finest!  We had a great time and Jane was once again a wonderful hostess!  Great place to stay and have a delicious home made breakfast - Jane is a wonderful cook.  Would definitely recommend staying at Dover House.  Thanks again for having us!!
