Clansman Motel North Sydney NS

On a recent trip to Newfoundland our brand new truck broke down & we stayed at the Clansman for 2 full weeks. The staff were beyond kind, helpful & very accommodating. Bonus that there is a restaurant attached so we ate most nights there, amazing food. Laundry facilities on site, beautiful pool & grounds very well kept. Pet friendly & our two little girls always got their morning rubs from the staff.
This is & will be our go to place in the future when we finally get to go on our vacation to Newfoundland. Thank you all for making our bad situation comfortable & for easing some of the stress for us.

Found this hidden gem last minute when we had nowhere to stay! Two dogs and it was perfect! The staff was soooo friendly and you felt like you were in your own hometown. Dated but cozy ! Love it ! The outdoors offered so much but we didn’t get a chance to explore ! Such a friendly family place ! The night manager Loren allen was AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much !

Always happy here with its central location, comfortable beds, friendly staff, good restaurant.  This time I had a suite.  As I sat in the livingroom watching TV in the evening, I was treated to being also able to watch the sun go down and see a beautiful sunset.  The bedroom also had a tv, and the window there faced East which brought in the welcoming morning light.

Another excellent stopover...the staff are awesome...it's quiet...spotless and affordable... definitely stay here again..close to all amenities... excellent restaurant on site..highly recommend this motel..it's been our place to stay for 8 years

I recently had a 2 week stay at the Clansman to self-isolate after a trip outside the Atlantic Bubble. I had a great experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had many calls down to the front desk to ask about garbage/laundry/check-out protocols and they patiently answered all of my questions. The room was equipped with a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot so I was able to have family drop off groceries to me and make a few of my own meals. For other meals, the I would call down to the restaurant (delicious!) and the staff would deliver them outside my door. The room also had a table the chairs (so I didn't have to eat in bed) and it was large enough to lay my yoga mat down to do some exercise. There was a thermostat to adjust the temperature as well as an overhead fan for warmer days. The Clansman made my stay very comfortable and I appreciate their great service! Would definitely recommend.

Very comfortable stay

We have stayed here twice a year for 7 years.. pet friendly room... excellent staff, the rooms are spotless and quiet..beds are comfortable and the price is right.. don't waste your time on other motels. Close to the Ferry as well...highly recommend this place

I stayed at the Clansman last week when I couldn't get a room in Sydney because the Scotties Tournament was in town.  I'll be staying at the Clansman on all my trips to the Sydney area from now on. The room was clean and very comfortable.  The food in their restaurant was great and very reasonably priced and their staff are exceptional.  It's everything I look for in a motel, plus they have the restaurant. Very convenient.

Clean Comfortable Rooms, Great Restaraunt & Staff

We drove from Alberta to Newfoundland during July and arrived in North Sydney a day before our ferry crossing. With no reservations, we stopped at multiple motels that did not allow pets (we traveled with two small dogs). I asked the owner of the last place I tried, which motels allowed pets, and was told the Clansman. 

Upon arriving at the Clansman in the early afternoon, I asked for a pet-friendly room. The lady at the reception desk told me a room was available but was not yet cleaned. She told me to come back in an hour. 

Sure enough, they had the room ready when I returned. The check-in was very friendly (the gentleman even told a story about my hometown in Alberta.  

The room was dated but very clean. It had all of the amenities you would expect from a roadside motel. The bathroom was updated, and the room had a new mini-split system that cooled the room nicely since it was quite warm out at the time of our stay.

A bonus was the restaurant on site where we ate dinner. Due to the heat, they had a reduced menu. I had the fish and chips, and my wife had a clubhouse. The food was delicious with large portions. The only hiccup was the waitress wrote the wrong table on our bill, and we were given a cheaper bill of the older couple at the table next to us. This was an easy fix. 

The bed was comfortable, and we were able to get a relaxing sleep since we had a very long trip in a very short time. We woke rejuvenated to catch the ferry in the morning. 

While the motel looks dated, it has an outdoor pool, a great restaurant on site, and many areas to sit around the property. There are also newer cabins on-site. 

If you are in North Sydney, the Clansman is a good place to stay. 

Comfortable Sleep Before the Newfoundland Ferry 

My Mum and I spent 2 nights here and rented a chalet. It was amazing. We each had a large bedroom with super comfy bed and our own bathroom. My Mum's even had a jacuzzi tub. Huge kitchen with full sized appliances and everything you could possibly need. Large living room with propane fireplace and big screen tv and also a large covered patio with a BBQ.  So much space and super comfortable! The staff here are lovely, the outdoor pool was great and of course the restaurant is legend for good reason. An older hotel but an absolute gem.

Excellent place, clean and spacious with super awesome staff

Check in was easy and friendly. Receptionist moved our rooms to be closer to our friends without us requesting this - a real nice touch. Rooms were clean, well appointed with flat screen TV, fridge and coffee maker. Two queen beds were very comfortable.
View out over the lake to die for and on-site restaurant perfect for supper and breakfast.
Traffic noise from the highway could be loud at times but as night wore on this reduced considerably. Great place to stay about 10km before Baddeck.
