The former Monastery is approximately 35 minutes drive from Pierre Trudeau International Airport along dual carriageway roads. We used it as a first night's stay in Canada following a late afternoon flight arrival. It was great for this and better value (and far more interesting) that hotels in Dorval. The Auberge is huge and spacious and the corridors are full of atmosphere. There is a fabulous view of the nave from the monks' retiring room at night (see photo). The rooms were very clean; ours had in-room wc and sink, but the many shared wcs and shower rooms are big and fine. A modest Continental breakfast was included and there was free coffee available at any time. Arrivals after 5pm access via a coded key box, which relases the side door and room key, which we found was straightforward. Overall this has more of a hostel feel than that of a hotel. A big bonus is the Sacré Bistro which shares the entrance courtyard. Bring mosquito repellant if you aregoing to be walking along the various trails. I would definitely stay here again.

Interesting alternative to Dorval hotels.

This was the perfect stay for a nice getaway in western Quebec. We are on our way from visiting Montreal to Ottawa and thought a stop in the Quebec countryside would be a nice contrast to the city visits that we are doing. The Abbaye d’Oka is immaculate, offers a comfortable amenities, and has a very nice continental breakfast included. As you would expect in a former monastery, this property has a simple decor, but it is inviting and in a beautiful setting.

Wonderful Stay at the Abbaye

For the price , I think one is best serve at a hotel with all amenities not far from this place, St eustache has few places much cheaper and at least you got a bathroom and shower in your room...this place is absolutely not worth it... unless they charge accordingly..

Extremely basic accommodations, no TV, phone, and washroom in rooms.... it is a hostel but they charge rates like a hotel...

This place could be fantastic, but it seems the customers of the hotel are not the priority of the managers. They seem much more attentive to the needs of those who pay higher amounts to be there, such as film crews shooting TV commercials in the beautiful setting of the chapel. 

On the day we were there, a whole and noisy film crew - shooting what seemed to be a beer commercial - had invaded the breakfast room with their equipment, shouting orders at each other, making it impossible for the "regular customers" to enjoy a peaceful breakfast. Asked to intervene, the  managers were not responsive.

The hectic atmosphere was extremely far from what one would expect from a former abbey. 

This careless management was also felt in smaller, less important details, but nevertheless annoying:
- our room is advertised on the website as equipped with a small refrigerator, but there was none;
- one of the two beds had no bedsheet.

For peace and quiet, and a minimum of comfort, this is sadly not the place to go.

Carelessly managed and very noisy

The Abbey is a surprise. Different. It is classed as a hostel but rooms and building were good. Building and history dramatic. A real paradise for biking and walking the grounds. The  Bistro is a romantic restaurant located on site.
Large pictures on the walls and halls speak to its religious history.
Most rooms have a shared bathroom.

A surprise:))

This is an excellent choice for those looking for something unique. The building and grounds are beautiful and the staff are very friendly. We were returning from Saguenay and needed a place for the night. It was easy to find, affordable and very clean. We were fine to share a bathroom - although we did not see anyone else staying in our section - and appreciated having a sink in our room. (rooms with an en-suite bathroom are also available)
The only downside would be the lack of air conditioning - being late August the night was cool enough for us and there was a ceiling fan in our room. 
The next morning we went for a beautiful run on the extensive trails and enjoyed the included continental breakfast before resuming our road trip via a short ferry ride from Oka to Hudson. 
There is an adjacent restaurant that is open Thursday-Sunday - it was closed during our stay so we went downtown Oka for excellent Thai food along the river.
We most certainly will return!

Hidden gem

What an experience! This was our first time in Oka and we were a little nervous about it being considered a "hostel" but it surpassed our expectations in privacy, cleanliness and amenities. The room was tastefully decorated, the bathrooms on each floor were private and well kept. We got a room that only had a sink and we shared it with another couple (queen bed and pull out couch) and were not inconvenienced in the least. The grounds were inpecible and full of charm and history...also there were beautiful trails right out the door for hiking and biking. It was hot and unfortunately no AC however the nights are cool and the big windows allowed a nice breeze..this should not be a deal breaker! Cant wait to go back! This hotel is one for the books👌

Out of ordinary!!!

For history buffs, off-road cyclists or people who do not mind basic accommodation at a fair price. Very interesting building that has a highly significant part in Quebec's religious and agricultural history. It is minutes away from the village or the national park. The mountain bike trails start in the parking lot of the Auberge.

Note that there is no air conditioning or television. Only a few rooms have en suite bathrooms. The included breakfast is very basic.

Basic comfort in a historical site

Beautiful building and surroundings.
Basic room and breakfast. Make sure to sample Oka cheese next door at the cheese shop. Ideal for bicycle enthusiast and great hiking.
The ferry across from Hudson is nice, where the Ottawa River meets the lake of two mountains and the St. Lawrence

Unique hostel

This was a most interesting place for us on our Canadian driving trip. We arrived on a Sunday night and we were given a very small, tiny room with a double bed. There had been a wedding that weekend so we were unable to get a larger room as they all needed cleaning. We were the only people staying in the hotel which actually was fun. We were given the keys to get back in if we decided to go out for the night. We enjoyed this place so much we stayed an additional night and that night there were three other people on our floor.  Breakfast is simple but fine. Probably better when there are more people to feed. There is no AC but it was a cool time of year. There were a few bathrooms on the floor. This place is not fancy. But it is clean and quiet. We loved walking around on our own, and sat in the reception with a bottle of wine and it was like being at home as we were the only ones there. It is a few miles from town. But there are a few stores very close for food, etc.
