Visited family and friends this past weekend in Ottawa. In the past we had stayed in local hotels but this time decided to go the bed and breakfast route. It turned out to be an excellent choice. From our initial booking to the checkin with Kevan the proprietor to the excellent room to the wonderful breakfasts and the overall cleanliness and character of the restored home, it was a wonderful stay. With parking included and just around the corner, this was a nice touch. Even though the temperature was frigid we still made the easy walk to downtown through neighborhoods with large old homes and huge trees. Definitely would recommend this as a good choice for accommodations when visiting the nation’s capital.

Winter getaway

Kevan and Cassie run a very good B&B in Ottawa.
Since I have been there before I was given a quick tour and Kevan went over the rules of the house.
The house was very well kept and the breakfasts were very good. 
I will stay at the B&B again.

Great  Bed & Breakfast

I have stayed at Benner's a number of times over the last 20+ years and I am always amazed at the beauty of the home. The art work is incredible and the hardwood floors gleam. The rooms and bathrooms are spotless. Kevin is your gracious host who quickly walks you through the does and don'ts of staying at the B&B. He also provides helpful information about Ottawa. Breakfast is served in the Avalon B&B next door, front doors are adjoining. The Avalon also has a large selection of pamphlets concerning things to see and do in Ottawa.I was there for 3 days and each morning we had something different for breakfast. I especially enjoyed the apple cinnamon pancake. The coffee is flavourable and plentiful. The B&B is a 20 minute walk to the Parliament buildings and the Bytown market. I met people from Western Canada, Italy, Germany and Taiwan at breakfst.This never happens in a hotel. Parking is available and free.

Beautiful home in the heart of the city

My daughter and I stayed in the King suite which we both loved. It's a cosy place with all the amenities, a huge bathroom and a kitchen (which we didn't use), a very comfortable king-size bed and a comfortable leather couch. The exposed brick walls and the original fireplace (not usable) make this suite very homey. I would recommend this place for a weekend in the city.

Lovely atmosphere

We stayed at Benner's B&B for two nights over the labour day weekend.  We were in the MacDonald room and though the bathroom was down the hall, it wasn't an inconvenience in the least.  There is only one other room on that floor and they have their own ensuite so it was never a problem to take a short walk down the hall to the bathroom.  
The bedroom has a lovely large window and a small balcony.  The balcony overlooks the street and has 2 chairs and a small table, perfect for sitting on after a long day of walking around town.  The room was clean and the bed comfortable.  The bathroom is large (and with a bidet!) and though we didn't make use of the jacuzzi tub it was inviting nonetheless.
The breakfast they serve are amazing.  There is OJ and coffee or tea and fresh fruit served with your breakfast.  We had a lovely pastry type of breakfast with fresh fruit the first morning and eggs benedict with asparagus and fresh fruit and croissant the next day.  
There was parking on the street overnight.  It is a short hike to get to the Rideau centre for example but we were able to drive down 3 or 4 blocks on Besserer and park closer and walk from there.  
I would not hesitate to stay there again, good location (with free parking), lovely rooms and amazing breakfasts.

Enjoyable stay and amazing breakfasts!

Quite a nice house.  However it is a mile from downtown and there is no lift and mein host does not help with your luggage (despite us in our seventies)  Not suitable for infirm.  
On arrival we were told the rules of the house, and reminded occasionally.  Breakfast was a bit odd with one big plate with a mix of foods on it.  You eat at 8am or 9am;  that's it. 
The (Pewter) room was good and the bathroom looked good at first sight; however nothing worked properly.  Shower door, sink tap, flushing loo - all a problem.  Sink cracked.  There were tea/coffee facilities down the hall which worked well.

Rules

Kevan is a very helpful host and he has a beautiful home. Some have mentioned that you don't get a choice for breakfast, but it is a B & B, it is not a restaurant. The breakfasts were plentiful and beautifully presented. We stayed in the King's Loft on the third floor. Someone else complained about the door to the loft. Yes, it must be lifted rather than opened like a normal door but it's kind of unique. The room is very large and it has a small kitchen. It is lovely, but it is important to note that it has a skylight, if you don't sleep well in light, bring along an eye mask or get another room, I was awakened early. One complaint : the bed was very hard. I wasn't able to sleep well, because the bed hurt my hips when I tried to sleep on my sides and this is an important point when I stay in a B & B. Thus the overall rating of 3.
