Edith and Otto have a really nice home with 3 rooms that they rent out as B n B.  Beautiful gardens, clean rooms with large ensures and fantastic breakfasts.  Edith does prefer cash or travellers' cheques (no credit or debit) but there are ATMs nearby in Parksville.

An excellent B n B in walking distance to Rathtrevor Park and Beach

A lovely large room with an equally large bathroom.  The hostess, Edith, was a little absent minded and chatty but very helpful with ideas where to go, etc even lending us a rather well-used map.  A nice quiet setting, fine for a couple of nights, although Parksville itself is a bit unimpressive.

A lovely B&B

I called months ahead to book the King room, and upon arrival, we were greeted with a host who seemed to have no idea we were expected. After a few questions, we were shown to the room, and "private" bath. First the room is nice and large, the bed did turn out to be comfy, but that is where the good stops. The furnishings are very old and outdated, the TV didn't work, there is no closet only a hook on the wall. The vertical blinds to the deck are missing pieces, glad we were only looking out to a back yard where no onw else could see in. The Private bathroom, must be accessed outside your room from a small alcove that has a drape across for privacy.
Again it is a large size, and that is also where the good ends. It is a very old musty mouldy bathroom, the toilet is not secured properly to the floor, we were given no face cloth, and 2 rough towels, the sink stopper didn't work either. We went out for supper and had no lock for the room, we never saw another person or the host till the next day. We had been given no tour around or told where to go for breakfast, so we followed to voices to the kitchen.
There we were told we were late, but we were ushered out to the deck. The back yard is nice and private, and the coffee and tea were good. Dry toast was brought out with a small fruit cup, and ice cold butter. Needless to say, the butter was un-spreadable. Breakfast was 2 eggs and 1 piece of bacon, no garnish, no condiments. 
The web site advertises the wonderful home baking, we did smell something good, but didn't see any.
We had a brief visit over coffee with the owners, and they seem like very nice people, who do get help to keep this going business. But unless they do some improvements to the bathroom esp., do no stay here, and asthma sufferers defiantly no.

Like a stay in Grandmas basement

This was my first experience with a B&B, as I'm generally more a fan of the consistency you get with big corporate hotel chains. Since none of those are available on the island outside of Victoria, I decided to take a chance with the Brant B&B.

The room was decent (it and the bedroom could use some renovation, but I could say the same of a number of IHG properties too), the location was quiet and beautiful, and the couple running the B&B were very welcoming and friendly.

If I found myself passing through Parksville again, I would return to Brant B&B.

What lovely people Otto  and Edith are.They make you feel very welcome in their home.
Our room was large and very comfortable as was the bathroom.  The house is set on a quite road a few minutes drive from the main high way.
