The victorian antique interiors are beautifully maintained  and well decorated to evoke the by-gone era.  The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable.  Judith, the inn keeper is a wonderful host and her breakfast was delicious.  I will stay there again next time I visit the area.

Comfortable and friendly get away in Port Colborne

My wife, my friend and I stayed in at the Talwood Manor bed and breakfast in Port Colborne for the eclipse weekend.  I can’t say enough good things about both Judith and the bed and breakfast.

The Talwood Manor is located in a pleasant neighbourhood, across the street from a very nice local theatre (throughout the year it has various plays and tribute bands).  The canal and most restaurants are within a ten minute walk of the bed and breakfast.  My wife loved watching the ships go past the lift bridge, which was admittedly impressive to see.  The restaurants in Port Colborne really impressed us – we ate at a fairly expensive restaurant in Niagara Falls one night (my choice), and felt that our money would have been better spent at restaurants in Port Colborne.

The Talwood Manor is an historic house that is filled with antiques and beautifully decorated, with a warm comforting feel to it.  The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms well-appointed.  There are thoughtful touches throughout the house;  bubble bath and Epsom salts by the bathtub, high quality, locally made soap by the bathroom sink, gardening and birding magazines in the sitting room and in the bedrooms, an assortment of beverages available on the upper floor (which is where the bedrooms are) and slippers by the front door, are just some of the amenities that can be found in the B&B.  

Judith was an amazing host – it’s obvious that she loves what she does.  She has a great knowledge of the area, and made excellent suggestions with regards to where to eat, and what to do.  Her three course breakfasts were both very tasty and very filling – the fact that we were able to finish them was a testament to her cooking skills.  Breakfast also came with coffee, or tea and a choice of juices.  We are looking forward to returning, to again partake of her morning meals.  

Aside from her cooking, it was a lot of fun to talk to Judith.  She has a wealth of experience, and has had clients from all over.  We especially enjoyed talking with Judith about Port Colborne, her experiences and her cats.  Speaking of which, I want to give a special shout out to Mr. Maury, the greeter cat, who took his job very seriously – providing the three of us with much purring and love.  I started to miss him as we were pulling out of the driveway to head home.

All in all, we had an exceptional experience at the Talwood Manor in Port Colborne, and look forward to returning soon.

Had an amazing stay

Staying at Talwood was one of the highlights of a 5 day bike trip. Judith clearly loves running a BNB. There was so much attention to detail that made our brief overnight stay feel luxurious and breakfast was fabulous. The bed was  exceptionally comfortable. A bonus for us was her sweet kitty rescues (who don’t go on the guest side of the house—so no worries about allergies). Judith gave us so many great suggestions for the rest of our trip as well. Don’t hesitate for a second about staying at Talwood! You won’t regret it. 

A+++ Talwood Rocks

Talwood Manor is just a lovely elegant place to stay with the British touch throughout the dining/living room as well as the bedroom and bathroom upstairs! Our breakfast consisted of a fruit served in a goblet followed by a warm egg  benedict dish afterwards served along with rye bread with local produced jams. Oh and lots of coffee was on hand!!  Overall, it was a place that we will come back to if and when we come to enjoy a play at the Lighthouse Theatre in the near future!!  Thanks so much Judith for a wonderful stay!


B&B in Port Colbourne

Wonderfully restful spot to stay on our cycling adventure in the Niagara Region. Judith is a wonderful host that welcomed us and made us all feel at home with a great night's rest and a fabulous breakfast to send us on our way for our next day's adventure on the road.

Fabulous cycling place to stay over!

The Talwood Manor  is beautiful and lovingly maintained.  Our breakfast of Eggs Benedict, fruit,  pomegranate juice,  coffee and  yogurt  was excellent.  All the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Judy is great host with an amazing knowledge of the local history and the surrounding restaurants. We have stayed with Judy many times and are planning our next visit.

Marvelous

This is the second time we have stopped into Talwood Manor on a yearly Greater Niagara Bike route (150km loop in the region which is mostly on dedicated bike trails - no traffic).  It is a perfect distance from St Catharines and Niagara Falls for a stop.

And, wow, what a spectacular place.  Judith takes great pride in her local region, home decor, and hosting guests.  This is the breed of bed and breakfast that seems to be quickly disappearing with AirBnB do it yourself stuff out there.  But, when biking, the last thing we want to do is go shopping for our own food - it is time to be treated to great meals.  And the 3 course breakfast at Tallwood is definitely a great way to start a day of biking (she even packed up her amazing pumpkin muffins for our mid-morning snack).

Perfect spot for the Greater Niagara Bike Route!

We stayed in The Highlander Room which was absolutely beautiful and very cozy. We had a lovely stay celebrating our 40th Anniversary. Judith is amazing!!! She made us feel very welcome and her breakfasts are delicious. The house is gorgeous...we felt like royalty.
Would definitely recommend.

Charming

Talwood is situated close to the Friendship and Welland Canal Bike trails. Judith is a great host with interesting and useful information.  The breakfast was delicious and cooked to perfection. We were able to leave our car at Talwood while we rode our bikes on  circle route through the Niagara Region. We highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast which is in walking distance to all the stores and restaurants.

Great place to start and end a bike ride

We were greeted very warmly by Judith and she showered us with little touches from start to finish. The house is beautiful (and very clean) and full of antiques. The location is ideal, close to everything.  The breakfast was hearty and delicious.  We were on our bikes, so Judith packed us a few slices of a delicious lemon bread for the road that she had baked and filled-up our bottles with fresh cold water. Our stay although short was very pleasant. We will definitely return the next time we visit Port Colborne.
