Location, sunset, cleanliness, on-site delectable food, this place touches all the bases. We chose a rustic beachside site and (almost) felt like we had the place to ourselves. Kudos to the team operating Alder Bay. It’s a tough gig and they do a terrific job.

Perfect for Early Fall visit

We LOVE Alder Bay,  We come here as a family in the summer to enjoy the gorgeous setting and ocean activities.  And we come back as couple in the off season for some peace and quiet and ultimate relaxation. Always something to see - eagles, bears, whales, cruiseships and gorgeous sunsets.

Best family experience ever

The campground is very nice with great spots and water views.  It was nice that Roxy's Diner was on site so we didn't have to go far to go out for dinner and a beer.  Bathrooms were clean and showers had great water temperature and pressure.  The staff was friendly.  It took us 3 years to finally get here.  Delays with Covid and border restraints put us behind in experiencing this great campground.  The weather could have been a little warmer but other than that it was a great vacation!


Beautiful Views!

We stayed five days in June 2023.  We travelled with our kids and grandkids in a motorhome and tent.  We loved Alder Bay.  The park is very well kept and is a stunning site looking over the waters of Johnstone Strait and the Island of Alert Bay.  We used Alder Bay as a base for day trips to Quatsino Sound for salmon fishing and Telegraph Cove for ocean kayaking.  Staff are friendly and accommodating.  We'll be back.

A perfect base for local fishing and kayaking adventures.

Great location, especially if you have a boat too. Great moorage. The campground is well kept but it retained its natural beauty. The facilities are exceptionally clean, the staff super friendly and helpful. Another nice addition is the on-site restaurant with patio. There is room for any set-up , from large motorhomes to pretty tent sites at the beach. You have a view on the marina and Alert Bay across the water, where you can see work boats as well as cruise ships sail by. Short drive to Telegraph Cove and Port McNeil for shopping supplies. 

A hidden gem of a campground 

What a kind and helpfull people!

The campground is very well kept. Clean showers and toilets.
The foodtruck and the terras overlooking the Bay are very Nice too.

We took a whalewatching tour and that was also very nice.
We found some orca’s and some other wales as well

Just a great place to stay

I stayed at Alder Bay resort with my dog. It is a beautiful location, the camp sites are good sizes.
There are toilet, showers and laundry facilities.
There is a resident food truck with a lovely dining area
 The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It is a very clean resort.
I loved it so much I have booked to go again in a couple of weeks.

We really enjoyed our stay at Alder Bay, it was our first time there. The drive to get there is scenic  easy. The ocean views are great. The managers at Alder Bay were lovely. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and we all six of us enjoyed our meal. Would go again.

Alder Bay Marina and Campground

Samara and Justin will welcome you has no other place! The magical ambiance of this place will bring you to another world. If you have the chance to see the star, a carpet of stars will blow your mind. And I don't tell you about the nature around...eagles, otters, many birds and whales!

A clean environment, quiet and peaceful! Please do the same respect if you go for a visit!

Little hidden secret

Alder Bay really has stepped up the food service on the North Island! Chef Penne’s Thai cuisine is incredible! The flavors are amazing. The presentation made us think we were in San Francisco!!  Great value. Reasonably priced.
Definitely worth the side trip!
