What a great place! If you can see past the minor imperfections, the history oozes from the decor and one gets the feel of a bygone era. Charlie was very friendly willing to answer any questions, or fulfill any requests we had. And you just can’t beat the price!

What a great place!

Old, worn out hotel. Cheap 60s-70s decor. Mattresses that feel like box springs. Owner accommodated our needs/requests. Rooms were clean. I don’t recommend staying here.
Side note: they started filming a Sandra Oh film here today - title is something like “Can I Get a Witness?”

This is a tired Hotel
This is an historic hotel.
The charm is in the outside and lobby.... it stops there.
Beautiful Park next door.

Staff was nice ...when you saw them.
No pub
no banquet hall
no diner
Irish pub CLOSED (permanently)

"hot" water takes 5-10 min to arrive
No kitchenette
no lounge and bar...  all locked away

Cool old hotel with a ton of character. If you want a 5 star place this isn’t for you. However, If you want to feel like you have stepped back in time and stay in a true heritage hotel I would highly recommend you try it out. Great prices and an amazingly accommodating owner Charlie make this a place to try something new. The owner was quick to respond to all our request and did so with a smile on his face. We stayed there 2 nights with a U11 girls hockey team and most of them said it was their favourite place they have ever stayed at. From ghost hunting at night to the character rooms and the antique phones, typewriters and radios lining the halls it made our stay truly memorable.

Night at the Museum!

We arrived early evening and had to call a number for someone to check us in, which was fairly quick. Very basic, clean room with slanted floors, as one would expect in a building this old. They’ve lots of old things and displays to check out in the hallways. Checkout was tossing the key into a bowl on the counter. We recommend wandering up to The Grenada for dinner.

Nice Budget Choice

The staff was very friendly and helpful.  The pictures on the wall told the story about the hotel and where it all began.  My room was lovely, spacious and very clean. The bedding had style.  I really enjoyed my stay and will stay there again.

We were four, wanting to stay for two nights.
We didin't get what the website offered at all.
Dirty, stinky carpet, uneven floor with misterious sounds (like the house would collapse soon), windows couldn't be opened more than a few centimeters.
"Restaurant" not very clean, too.

So, the hotel is really old, for north american proportions, nad it has to find an investor or should be demolished.

Although, I've seen some really nice rooms, when walking down the corridor.

Finally we just stayed for one night and found another hotel for us.

I’m sure this hotel, in its glory days, was a site to behold.  
It reminds me of an old hotel from a spooky movie.  Staircases closed off, rooms with “ do not trespass” , and just various other vacant delinquent areas of the property that don’t allow me to give it more than 1 star. 
I don’t want to say too much negative as I’m sure the old hotel was majestic in her glory years and out of respect I shall not be insulting.

Best years have passed

The staff are great, my room was rough but clean. Interesting place to stay the night. In its prime this place looks like it was a beautiful historic hotel on the water. Today it has the historic feel but it’s tired and rundown. It needs a lot of time and money to restore, I hope it gets it I really liked the building.

This hotel needs some love

This hotel is quite shocking upon arrival: decor, view from my room, and state. But to be honest the shower was hot, my room was clean, and the staff at check-in was friendly. I would not suggest staying here with the family, but on business if you wanted to stay in Townsite it served its purpose.
