Lovely family run property.
Stayed mid-late September (end of season). The place was pretty dead.
Nice breakfast.
Clean room, quaint, but getting a little too dated.
I’m sure the vibe in the summer is much different.
Great location- beautiful beach 5min walk.

Had such a great time at the Shaw's Hotel- One of the staff named James was so helpful and accomodating, he went out of his way to make sure we had a great time and had everything we needed for our stay. The place was quiet and peaceful and had so much natural beauty! 

Awesome time

Very nice and quiet hotel, 5-10 minutes walk to the beautiful sandy beach, nice surprise - free kayak rental at the hotel! Very nice service and also delicious dinner at the hotel's own restaurant. Unfortunately we didn't like the rooms. We had the family suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The rooms are in very old country style. Old furniture and mattresses, outdated furnishings and old bathrooms and spiders. Air conditioning only in the hallway.

Good location, delicious food, rooms so ok

Down a quiet little lane, behind the beautiful Prince Edward Island National Park, is historic Shaw's Hotel. A friend and I stayed one August night after driving through the previous night from Massachusetts to see a rare bird that had taken up residence in the Cove. When it became clear we would need to find lodging for the night we recalled seeing Shaw's Hotel. We snagged a 2 bedroom suite with shared living room and bathroom - prefect for our needs. The front desk staff are very kind and the grounds are spacious and lovely. Our room was simply styled but had all the necessary creature comforts, including a comfortable bed. The dining room looks out towards the extensive lawn and cove. A full complimentary breakfast was a lovely addition to an already very nice stay.

Lovely property

This vintage inn is a beautiful property with lovely flowers, dining room, access to canoes, kayaks, bicycles and a short walk to the most beautiful beach ever. 
On the first evening after dining on the premise, we opened our door to our 3rd floor room and when the lights got turned on, black beetles scurried across our carpet and floor.  
We were disappointed when the front desk attendant jokingly said they are called “shaw bugs”, are harmless and won’t bite. Housekeeping said they were a problem but were harmless and are more frequent in damp weather. 
We killed about 12 in an hour and they seemed to come out in the dark. We moved everything off the floor then slept with the lights on. Bugs were coming out of the baseboards and vents and we were on the 3rd floor so it’s unlikely that they are a new problem.  We paid for a clean room and question commitment to deliver this basic hotel objective. 
Lovely and scenic property if these issues were addressed quickly and properly. Staff (many students) were friendly. 
When checking out I was again dismissed when I mentioned the bugs.

Beautiful property but a serious bug problem.

There being only 2 restaurants in Brackley Beach that we could find, we were fortunate that there was room for us at dinner on our first night in Brackley Beach. We were seated at a patio table and looked out at green lawn, flowers and inviting adirondack chairs - a lovely outlook. We both had the "seafood bubbly" which was a casserole and chock full of of a variety of seafood. We had an appetizer as well but I don't remember what it was. The meal, including tip was just over $50, a very good value and a good dining experience.

Lovely Setting Good Food

My mother and I stayed here in mid July during our hike on the island. We arrive very hot and tired, and were shown into a delightfully cool room. We had two beds in a smallish but very clean bedroom that had a gorgeous view of the backyard, which we took advantage of as we relaxed in patio chairs and played Scrabble, which we found in the inn's collection of games. We had to make a reservation for supper, I couldn't understand why as the place was almost empty, but it made no difference to us. Supper was delicious, we had pizza and seafood stew followed by apple pie a la mode. The next day was very warm so we headed to Brackley Beach by way of the shortcut in the woods (full of mosquitoes so be prepared!) The inn has a good selection of beach chairs, umbrellas and towels you can borrow, and we spent a lovely day on the beach. It was past our check in time but they still happily kept our hiking backpacks behind the counter while we were on the beach. There is a coin operated laundry room on site.

Overall, this is a beautiful place full of character and charm. Staff is friendly and helpful, and it is our favorite place we stayed on the island. Heartily recommend.

Absolutely charming location

Excellent service - the owner even picked us up from a local restaurant so we didn’t have to walk in the dark! We stayed right in the Inn, and our room was very comfortable. The grounds are very scenic. The building is old, but very well kept. We arrived on bikes and a safe place to store the bikes was provided for us. Would recommend!

Lovely spot on our bike trip across PEI

20 members, 3 generations, of The Edward family gathered at this fantastic resort for just under a week. The accommodation was excellent. Some had cottages and we had the apartment in the main building, the original old farm house. The food was outstanding and the staff....every single one of them , were top notch. The location and well kept gardens and grounds make this one of the nicest places we have  ever stayed in. Thankfully, the mosquito repellant was supplied by the staff.

We visited the end of March to hike the PEI trail. We were told that the dining facility was not yet open but they would loan us bicycles to ride the 7 miles to Dal Vay by the Sea that had a very nice restaurant. The wind came up off the ocean and the 7 mile ride felt like 21. Rob Shaw called the restaurant a short time after we arrived to 1) make sure we arrived safely and 2) If we would like him to come pick us up. We jumped at that. On the way home we learned about the Shaw family history starting in 1770 and the Inn opening to travelers in 1860. A great trip memory, Highly recommend.
