Not comfortable

So I booked a reservation on Hotels.com. thinking it was owned by Westgate the big hotel chain. It is not! It's a motel with no key card . You get a key. Odd! The front desk lady told me that a few of the rooms had the carpets clean the other day and that it could still be wet! Checked in my room. It literally smelled like somebody took a dump in the room! I asked to change the room. The smell of the rooms that got "carpet cleaned" got worst and worst! So we got moved to upstairs room. Still smelled like feces! So I called hotels.com and they canceled my reservation and I booked elsewhere! It was not worth $100! Felt like a basement dungeon with wet stinky floors! 

Was Soooo bad!!

This is my first time in Canada. I came as a settler. The hotel is at very affordable prices. Despite bad reviews , I will recommend this place. My room was clean. Enormously grateful to the manager. Very helpful Indian guy. He assisted us in everything we needed as newcomers.

Good experience 

I made a reservation through Expedia and had a confirmation number for that specific night.

When I went to check in - they said I hadn’t made a reservation. I showed them their hotel, date and Expedia confirmation number. The guy repeated he didn’t have it and he acted like he really didn’t care. He said they didn’t have any rooms available and I needed to go elsewhere. THIS PLACE IS BAD !

Bad management, lost my reservation so didn’t even stay 

This motel is one of the cheapest places to stay in Saskatoon and the price reflects the condition of the rooms. I stayed in the "classic room" some rooms are apparently better than others. Check in took a while as the clerk was more interested talking on his cell phone than checking in a guest.
It is in the west end of Saskatoon on 22nd Street West in an area where lots of interesting characters roam around at night.
It is 2018 and the motel still uses regular metal keys instead of key cards.
Stayed on the second floor there is no elevator. No outside entrance for the second floor rooms.
The entire motel is now non smoking. They charge a high 200 dollar deposit to deter smoking in the rooms. The room is very dated with old furniture with cigarette burns on it. Cinder block walls look to be recently painted. Carpet is old and worn with stains on it. There is a coffee maker with a mini fridge and an old tube TV. Some rooms have tiny flat screen TVs. Lots of TV channels. My bedding had a white duvet but some rooms have the ugly old bedspreads. Mattress was old but didn't feel too bad. Wouldn't say comfortable. Pillows were decent.
The windows open. My screen was not broken but some rooms have broken or missing screens. The ugly blackout curtains are real old and some of the foam backing has holes and lets light in. There is a door to exit onto a long shared balcony.
The room was muggy on a hot summer night. Tried to cool it down and felt cold air coming from the noisy air conditioner but it did not cool down the room. After shutting it off it make a gurgling noise all night long which was annoying so didn't sleep much at all.
Bathroom was clean except the floor. Shower was surprisingly good with plenty of pressure and hot water.
Breakfast is over at 9:30 am and consists of small muffins, toast, instant oatmeal, apple and orange juice. There is good coffee available in the lobby 24 hours. The free wifi worked fine.
Would probably cost 1 or 2 thousand to redo each room to make it look nice I don't know why the management doesn't.

Budget place, budget price.

Had no issues during the two nights I stayed here. The woman at check-in was great and knew what she was doing. One thing they should do is replace the outside  electrical plugs. Some of them are in rough shape. Overall though the Westgate is a good budget hotel and I will never understand why some people complain about cheaper hotels like they're paying $200 per night for it or something. I paid $145 in total for my two nights and the Wi-Fi worked great.

Will stay again

This was a good place to stay for one night.  The room was a good size, clean and comfortable and breakfast was included in the very reasonable price.  A large security deposit was taken however there was no issue with this being refunded back.  Our room could be accessed from the main building or from a spate external door to the parking lot which was good for bringing in luggage.  Overall, a good experience
