A great stop for a cycling trip. Nice clean rooms on the main floor. Bike washing station and the front desk gave us rags for drying our bikes which we took into our huge room. Comfy beds and nice and quiet. We will go again. Close to shops and bike trails. Good people great service.

We felt like well cared for family

We were bicycling the Selkirk Loop and didn't have much choice of accommodations within cycling distance. I was very disappointed in the value, which was the worst in our 10-day trip. The price we paid was way too much for the very basic rooms that really do need to be updated. There weren't enough outlets near the bed. It would be so easy to get a power strip or block with outlets and USB ports. We also had a hard time finding a place for dinner. Two people in our group ate at the hotel's restaurant, and I think they were the only customers (I didn't find out their experience).

Overpriced and very outdated rooms

Uggg. Freezing cold restaurant and austere surroundings we could accept but the  barely edible breakfast, and the most unfriendly uninterested waitress we have ever encountered was too much…..and the waitress we thought was likely also the owner so there’s no escaping her. The lack of anyone else in the restaurant should have been a clue. We would never eat here again.

Do not eat in the restaurant

This little Inn was a tad dated without question.   It is also the only Inn in town so I am certain closing for updates would not be an easy thing to do.   Having said that the wonderful owners and staff certainly make up for that , hands down  with their friendly , efficient , pleasant and accommodating customer service.  We enjoyed ourselves so much and most importantly the beds were clean and super comfortable as was the room.  The room also  had a little kitchenette which I was not expecting but we were also upgraded as we were staying for a few nights which we appreciated.  This Inn also has the only PUb and Restaurant in town so the kitchenette was welcomed.  I would certainly recommend the Valhalla Inn and want to thank Serena and her Aunties for making our stay so enjoyable.    If I was to make one suggestion it would be that perhaps the Pub carpets could use a deep clean only but again its the only Pub in town or Silverton too for that matter. 

Comfortable , clean and cozy Motel with above average Customer service.

New owners are trying to make a go of this place.  While the hotel is dated it is very clean and welcoming.  Very helpful and friendly.
We didn’t try the restaurant but there were a number of quests eating, so that is a good indicator.
New Denver is a quaint little village to visit.

New owners.

Had dinner at the restaurant, chow mein and prawns. Prawns were pretty good, chow mein was fried crunchy, lukewarm and clumped... Seemed about a day old, maybe two. Bout half a plate of noodles spread thin with some soggy carrots and zucchini and a "spring roll" that seemed to be a mashed potato samosa. Waiter never attended table. No bill. Front desk unmanned. Then the kid produced a manager who just argued and accused me of  I'll never eat here again and highly discourage it. Wretched experience. 

Miserable restaraunt

I took my elderly mother for a weekend trip from Calgary through Golden to see the new Hwy 1 construction and then around to New Denver to visit the internment camp. I had booked the Valhalla Inn on short notice and was pleased that they had a ground-floor room for us. Our visit was so delightful that I felt compelled to write a short review of the Inn. 
The Inn is bright and roomy and impeccably clean and well-maintained. The rates are very reasonable and the service is first-rate. It’s centrally-located within easy walking distance of the lake, town centre, and a short drive to the internment camp. There’s a gas station and convenience store kitty-corner from the Inn.  
Our room looked out into the back raised-garden area. We were told that a bear and her cubs had been seen in the yard the previous day scrounging apples; unfortunately, they didn’t pay us a visit. However, we did see them close-up down by the lakeside later that evening. Wow!
The Inn has a small bar and restaurant. The meals are home-cooked and very hearty. The lady-of-the-house made us a wonderful breakfast early the next morning (before formal opening hours) that filled us nicely for our drive home along the Crowsnest Pass. We felt so at home that we even took a selfie with our hostess to commemorate our stay. 
We will happily make this a regular stop on our travels through B.C.

A lovely, homey place to stop for a visit,

I stayed for one night recently and found it was good for a quick visit! Not fancy but clean rooms can be found here! Bathrooms are a bit outdated but again, they were clean! Location is great and service was good! There is a restaurant located at the hotel and is good for lunches and breakfasts! Aside from it being outdated it was a good place for a night or two, and for the price it couldn’t be beat!

Oldy but a goodie!

We enjoyed everything about our stay here. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I didn't notice much noise through the night - although other visitors might find the fridge a bit loud. Breakfast was yummy.
For those with electric vehicles, the Level 3 charging station (CHADEMO/CCS) is just a half block away.

Nice place to stay and/or eat

This was the worst and one of the most expensive hotels on our 5 day tour of the kootenays.  The room smelled.  No air conditioning on a day that was 32C (around 90F).  Minimal toiletries in the bathroom.  Carpet that was very old and leery of walking barefoot on. Stained bed sheet.  Blonde hair in the bath tub. (we have black hair).  Sketchy wifi at best.  Too hot to stay in the room so went to the in-house pub to cool off at 8:15 only to find it locked and closed at 8:00.

We could have put up with all of this if the price was cheaper but prebooked with priceline at $143.00 Can. for the night.  If this is the best New Denver has to offer than wiser to stay in Kaslo or Nakusp.
