Passing through Smithers, my son and I only needed a 10 hour sleep before getting back on the road. 
It's obvious that the owner of this hotel is really investing in the room product. 
From the outside, it's an older motel in a very good location. 
On the inside were many upscale investments not commonly found in a budget property. 
I'll start with the bathroom. There's a beautiful shower with sliding glass door. The tile is real ceramic on the shower wall, and bathroom floor. The vanity was large and the toilet looks to have been recently replaced. Top notch bathroom and towels. There's also a window in the bathroom for ventilation.
The room had a full kitchen with stove and also recently modernized/upgraded. 
The linens on the bed were new, clean and comfortable. Many times, a budget motel would be behind the times, but this one clearly different. The white waffled duvet cover was presented well. 
The floors were a wood veneer or vinyl plank.

I would guess that the parking lot and exterior railings are next to be modernized.

Whether you're staying for a quick overnight or a ski weekend, this hotel impresses!!

GREAT value, bath/shower, and room!!

The Staff was amazing during our stay, they went above and beyond.  The motel may be a little "old school" but it is clean, comfortable, and in a great location.  We stay here multiple times a year. 


Great Staff!

We travelled to Smithers for a couple out of town appts and our truck broke down the day we arrived. With no cab service in town, this hotels location is perfect to get to most places within a fairly short walking distance. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bedding u could curl up in and doze off in minutes. The grandmother and granddaughter were both so sweet, and the staff were very pleasant and attentive when asking if we needed anything, especially after we needed to extend our stay. We booked online and the price was perfect, especially with the onsite laundry and kitchen avail to guests. 
Thank you all for making such a stressful trip a little less stressful, a smile goes such a long way! We will definitely be back! Thanks again! Rhonda and Mike (and Mookie, Scooter, and Cody - the parking lot munchkins🐾)😊

I booked as the reviews were so positive and they were right, comfy beds, clean rooms and soft towels. The bathrooms are small and could do with an update (plug holes are rusty) but it was clean. Not often I sleep well in a hotel but I did here. A short walk across the highway to restaurants and coffee shops.

Clean spacious rooms and very comfy beds

They have on-site guest laundry and a full guest kitchen. The beds are firm and comfortable. I like that the air conditioner is remote controlled, and there are easily accessible outlets anywhere one might need them. Towels are collected from the office as needed, which cuts down on excess laundry for the housekeeping staff, which is a wonderful idea. Water pressure in the shower is great. All in all, a nice, cozy little stopover. Smoking/vaping is prohibited anywhere on the property except the designated spot at the edge of the parking lot, which I - a smoker - really appreciate.

Clean, comfortable, friendly

I was just ending a 17 day motorcycle trip from Vancouver Island to Dawson City and return.  I was impressed with Fireweed's covid kits that they had ready at check-in. All the soap, shampoo, coffee, cups etc were bundled together in clear plastic bags. As well they didn't have the towels in the room but gave them to you as well at check-in. Great idea I thought! The place was very clean and tidy with very good internet and tv. Close to local restaurant's as well. I would stay again if I found myself in Smithers.

Clean, Comfortable and Convenient

This place surpassed my expectations. I had seen some good reviews but I'd like to leave an even better one. I would definitely stay here again. Good rates and very well kept. Spacious rooms are very clean.

Excellent place to stay

I live in Smithers, but am hotelling while my bathroom is getting some repairs done.

I won't lie, I always forget about the Fireweed, it's kinda tucked away off the highway. When I needed a place to stay with my son that had a separate room for him and kitchenette, a friend reminded me of the Fireweed.

It's awesome.

$200/night gets us a sweet equivalent to an apartment suite, with 2 bedrooms (one with a bunkbed and single, so easy to sleep 3 kids, the other with a nice big queen size).  

It's got a proper kitchen with dining bar/island including all the things I need to cook and clean, and a spacious bathroom with 2 sinks.

There's a TV in the living room as well as master bedroom, laundry facilities for $4 per load and Wifi.

To top it off the staff are friendly and helpful.

They do allow pets in some rooms, but not this one unfortunately.

Thanks Fireweed for making my forced staycation uber comfortable.  I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone.

Hidden gem

Traveling across Canada and discovered the Fireweed Motel on the recommendation of a waitress. So happy I stopped here. Very clean, comfortable room. The staff was nice. And bonus, it was within walking distance of downtown restaurants. I would stay here again!

Excellent stay!

Stayed at the Fireweed on business for 1 night. Overall pleased with my stay. 

Pros: very clean, recently renovated bathroom in my room (30), great location, very (very) firm mattress which I like, good wifi (joined meetings with video and no issues)

Cons: outside noise was pretty loud but my sound machine provided coverage thank goodness I had it, no coffee maker or way to heat water in the room which is rare I think

Nice motel and great choice when you’re in Smithers!
