Room is quiet - small amount of traffic noise but nothing terrible.
Happy with the room for $140.
Easy parking and access but there’s limited parking .
No elevator but one easy flight of stairs.

Good overnight stay

Oh, my. I booked this because my usual hotel wasn't available.
Let's start with the biggies:
-Security bar has been broken off.
-Most rooms here have a key card, but this looks like it's been kicked in because it has a different door plate and uses a physical key. (I included a picture of another room with proper lock.)
-No emergency lighting or sprinklers in the room. Not even sure that's legal, despite the age of the building. Regardless, it's unsafe.
-No wheelchair access to the hotel whatsoever. Even the entrance. Stairs only. Again, would be surprised if legal.
-Room is musty, dim, and in poor repair. Damage on door, walls and tub.
-Ancient green carpet worm down and damaged by previous furnishings.
Nowhere near the level of quality I've come to expect from this brand.
The bed.is reasonably comfortable and seems clean. The room appears to not have been meaningfully updated in probably 10 or 15 years. Very glad I'm only here for about 12 hours.

1990 called...you missed your renovation appointment.

The hotel is easy to find and has a free car park (be careful though as we inadvertently parked in the neighbouring hotels car park and didn't realise until the next morning - luckily we didn't get towed).   The hotel is a little tired and could do with a facelift/modernisation.  The staff are great and tried to sort any issues we had straight away - for example we wanted ice to cool our drinks down but the ice machine was out of service, they had cold drinks available.  The rooms are large, clean and comfortable ensuring we were able to get a good nights rest.

Comfortable but needs a facelift/modernisation

No lift but only 2 floors. An older motel and needs an update but actually room was good size comfortable and well equipped free coffee in lobby with some breakfast snacks as well. Staff friendly good price we stayed to meet family member off plane. It’s actually a good lace to stay if you want a comfortable room

Looks dated but is good salute and comfortable

We paid $160 after tax for a tiny room for 4 people. The hotel is years overdue for an upgrade / renovation. I was told at check in that we only paid for 2 people when we paid for 4. That was cleared up when I proved that we had through Hotels.com. The room was adequate but very small and the carpet was terrible - wet in places... it was gross - needs to be replaced with flooring. We had no soap in the room. When I asked for soap, I was told it was back-ordered. For $160/night, you could go to Safeway and buy a bunch of bars... unacceptable - especially during a pandemic. The AC could not keep up (we were warned on check in). If I had paid $70 for the room - this all would have been fine but at that price, the expectation is for something much better. Finally on check out there was a mix up where I was told I would get refund for another room - receipt stapled to the wrong folio. All in all, very disappointing. Never again. Sandman really needs to improve their game or risk disappearing.

Don't stay here

Very friendly, helpful staff. Clean, comfortable and great location. Room temperature was great.
Good size fridge. Microwave was very handy. Beds were comfy with lots of pillows. We will definitely stay there at our next opportunity.

Enjoyed our stay.

It’s been awhile since I have travelled back to Smithers.  Always a warm welcome when I arrive.  My room was nicely prepared with added treats waiting for me.  I love how there are cold drinks available with lite snacks for free!  Thanks Sandman for the hospitality and reliability.  

Always a warm welcome 

Very efficient check in. Good knowledge of local eateries. Lobby and hallways were vacuumed and smelled fresh. Music in the lobby was very nice and they had a nice snack bar to take advantage of 24 hrs. The fridge was well stckwd with a good variety for most. Checkout was equally efficient and the employees were very friendly. This is a good value for your money and felt very clean and safe.

Great Sleep

I have stayed at this hotel a lot and I always sleep well and feel at home, parking lot is always clean and not a bunch of smoke butts on the ground. Free drinks and snacks for my much save me a ton of dough

Signals

Great value and views from the room. Swift check in made for a quick dash to the bathroom to find it tidy and clean. We headed out for dinner close by and the location allowed us to walk to most place for shopping. Good choice and a branded hotel in this quaint northern town.
