We loved this unit for its location, furnishings and amenities. It was spotless and check in was easy. Everything was less than a 10 minute walk away. The only problem is if your bedroom is facing Downie Street you will hear drunken yelling until 2am. On weekends the patio and sidewalk are crowded with very intoxicated people screaming at each other. Gilly's management needs to do better

Great location but avoid units with bedrooms facing Downie Street 

The posh downtown suite (#3) in which we stayed has 2 bedrooms separated by a kitchen and a spacious living room. The ceilings are sooo high! Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a shower.  The Avon theatre is across the street. The Festival theatre is a short 5-10 block walk away. Please note: if you select room #3, the luxury 2 br, you'll need to be able to climb a goodly flight of stairs. The paint is peeling on the stairs, but the suite looked to be recently remodeled. And there are ample dining options within a few blocks!

Posh downtown suite!

We spent two nights in Stratford celebrating a special occasion.  We have stayed at the Foster’s Inn, which I highly recommend, and the Swan Motel, which is not luxurious but great if you don’t mind driving.  My husband thought St. George’s Suites would be quaint.  That is too complimentary.    He booked the one bedroom.  This review speaks only to that as the two bedroom suites are in a different building.
The suite is an apartment, a one bedroom apartment up a steep staircase.  We were told to text our host when we arrived.  We did and were directed to meet Nick at a different address from that which is posted on travel sites.  Nick pointed us to a small two storey building with a cab company operating from the main floor.  The ‘suite’ was upstairs.  I was in shock and extremely disappointed with the location.  When I advised him that this was not as pictured on booking.com, Nick stated the door was pictured on the sites.  Well, yes.  (See building photo).  

Not wanting to upset my husband, as this trip was a gift, we proceeded upstairs with Nick.  He did not offer to carry my suitcase.  We are in good shape but we are pensioners.  The ‘suite’ is a renovated apartment in an old house with a crooked staircase and crooked floors.  The living room area was fine except for the noisy air conditioner.  The bedroom was small and crowded with a noisy window air conditioner.  There is no closet.  A rack for clothes was available.  The dresser was full of linens and as such, there was no room to unpack clothing.   The bed was so so.
The ‘suite’ was generally clean except the floor was extremely dusty and appliances were well used and stained.  

The amenities provided were unusable, the soap felt chalky.  Bring your own if you stay here.  The bathroom was very small and there was no space to put down your own amenities, shave kit, etc. 

The TV was good but the Bell satellite service was not user friendly, to start it you need to press some buttons on the side of the TV in a particular order, the remotes do not work to get it started.  There are hand-written instructions which do not work.  When we did get it on we left it on.
  
The ‘free’ parking does not belong to St. George’s Suites.  It is City property and free for anyone to park.  It is about a five minute walk.  Street parking is free overnight.  I believe the times were from 6 .m. to 8 a.m. and after that you can use the meter.  Bring coins.  

In ‘special requests’ my husband asked that my special occasion be acknowledged – a card, letter or note is what we have previously received – no acknowledgement or notice that this could not be provided was given.  

I would not recommend St. George’s Suites as it is over-priced, not as advertised, housekeeping is not up to par, you feel like you are on a ship at sea because of the slanted, crooked floors, there is no ‘front desk’, it is not a hotel, it is just a small apartment in an old house with no host.  Did I mention it is way over-priced!  The Inn across the street is around the same price and there is no comparison.  Stay anywhere else!

Over-priced, dusty, not as advertised,

Guests in an apartment for two nights.  The location was a few steps from the Avon Theatre and a close walk to shopping and parks.  We had a comfortable stay. You must travel up a flight of stairs to get to the apartment which wasn't a problem for our party but could be a barrier for other guests.  We were unable to secure receipts (split three ways), from the owner so that each of us could submit one for business purposes. This was despite repeated attempts, before and after our stay.

Minutes from Much

The room was great and it was nice to be close to the Avon.  Having said that, the noise from the adjacent bar was horrible and went on well past closing.  It got cold and the furnace didn't work.  When turning the heat on, the furnace made loud pops (bangs) as if it was trying to light.  Wife had a hard time sleeping after because she though it was going to blow up or had some sort of gas leak.  It ended up being a very cold night.  I communicated with the owner via text to let them know that we were not happen as well as to let them know what was happening with the furnace.  We didn't get changed for the stay for well over a month....we thought they didn't charge us because of the issue.  When we did get charged, the owner stated they would be out of the country for a month and they would discount our next stay or provide a credit.  I had to reach out to him a few times well after a month and he still didn't get back to me until just before Christmas (well over 2.5 months from our stay).  He only offered a discount on our next stay.  With the noise and level of customer service we experience with this fella, the likelihood that we would be back at one of the 3 apartments that they offer was nil.  A discount on a future stay did nothing for us as we were not coming back.  When I explained this, he provided no further communication to us.  I asked him to reconsider a number of times prior to posting this and to this day he has provide no sufficient remedy from this customers standpoint.  Horrible customer service takes away from an otherwise nice cared for accommodation.  The noise could have been overlooked.

Had a great stay up until it got cold. Noise from bar was horrible.  Zero customer service.

3 couples stayed here while in Stratford to see Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Avon theatre. Suite was only steps to the theatre! Location was excellent! Lots of restaurants/bars nearby. Free parking nearby and we walked everywhere. Suite was comfortable- had everything we needed!  So much better than renting 3 hotel rooms! 

2 nights here!

We enjoyed our stay in this converted historic commercial space. Ceilings must be close to 20 feet high. The location was extremely convenient - close enough to stop by during intermission and avoid the washroom lines. Host was helpful - inquire about key arrangements before you arrive; there are several units but there is no front desk.
