Loved it! Beautiful setting. Remote, off the grid (but you’d never know it) location. No light pollution to spoil your view. The most beautiful stars I’ve ever seen. Warm cabin with everything you need. We rented the cold weather gear which was high quality and very warm. Excellent food (thank you Dane). Amazing staff (thank you Rachel and Crystal and the tall Brit and the blonde Brit).  Oliver picked us up from the airport (on time and great conversationalist). We dogsledded with Renee and Connor - what an experience! Snowmobiling with Matt was great - we’ve never done it, he was a great teacher. We would love to return.

What an amazing place. So remote & tranquil. The staff & management were so extremely welcoming and friendly. We took a dog sled tour which was a once in a lifetime experience.  The scenery around here is spectacular. We did not manage to see the Aurora lights but everything else was amazing. 

Spectacular Remote Location 

Just finished a 4 night stay in the deluxe villa and had a great time. No, didn't see the Northern Lights, but no one had any control over that. However, the time was well spent. We dog sled one day, rode snow mobiles another day, just plain hiked on a third day, as well as just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. What great fun.

The staff was excellent. Enjoyed the conversations with them about their experiences and world travels. The owner was very helpful throughout the stay. This is a small resort, but that is what makes it special. You aren't overwhelmed with tons of tourists and you're not treated like just another customer. I felt like I was visiting old friends.

My only advice is to avoid Air Canada. Much better service and more flight options to Whitehorse using Air North.

Stayed here last year (2022), again this year and booked for 2024.  Very quiet. right on the Tagish River in the Southern Yukon.  Hour and a half to Whitehorse.  Beautiful location, nice attractive and modern units to stay in and great Chef prepared food in the lodge dining room.  Very popular for locals to dine.  Highly recommend this place and it's ambience.

Yukon's best for quiet stay and great food

Over the years, we have managed to get to every Provincial and Territorial Capital in Canada except for Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory. With the exception of the Yukon, we have travelled to each Province and territory by automobile save the Yukon. We had been to the Vancouver and Vancouver Island and well as on every paved road in B.C. bur the idea of the long drive to Whitehorse at the end of any of those journeys never seems to "ring the bell". 

Until this Package  from Landsby travel Inc. came on offer, we had given up on getting to the Yukon from our home in Niagara because of the expense of actual getting there;  the price just to fly there from Vancouver over the years was more than a return from home to Vancouver.

We travelled from Toronto to Yellowknife (short stop to all folks ending at Yellowknife to de-plane and this boarding for Whitehorse to board and we were on our way to Whitehorse. on Air North. What a treat this airline is (pease se my review of Air North,).

We were met at Whitehorse airport by the General Manager of Spoiuthern Lakes Resort, Oliver, who cared for our luggage and escorted us to the Resort's vehicle, ensuring we were all good for the trip to the Resort (nearly one hour south and East of the city.

Upon arrival, we were taken to the main lode and restaurant building for our check in  then Oliver drove us to our "cabin" which was as promised. A wonderful complete single with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the historic Tagish Lake and Coast Mountains which were part of the Klondike Gold Rush rout from the Chilcoot pass to Dawson. The "cabin' clean and fresh with a very comfortable queen bed and complete, modern bath and shower. and a wide balcony to relax on. 

While we didn't see any of the anticipated Norther Lights because of cloud cover every evening, the Snowshoeing and hiking was spectacular. we didn't opt for the Dog Team adventure, or the Snowmobile adventure, fellow guests raved about both, including the lunch mid- way through each of the 5 hour excursions.

the Restaurant is set in a proper wooden log building high up over the lake shoer, again with a full balconey. Breakfast is a buffet but Moore than adequate to fuel up for the day and is tasty. The Coffee was so good we bought some at the airport to bring home!!

Dinners were three course with Vegetarian options and reflected the products available up there. Hostess, Rachel, and Chef Deaan did a superb job of making us feel at home and well fed! 

Should you wish to see the beauty and magnitude of the extreme west of Canada, in comfort and style without breaking the travel budget for the next decade, pleas do consider this option. Your won't be disappointed...Even if the clouds obscure the Northern lights which we found out were seen as far south as NYC!!!

Perfect experience of remote Yukon in comfort

It was our 1st time visiting, and we loved it! Great location, beautiful cabin and stunning views! Also, their restaurant offers amazing meals and offers the best views (probably the only restaurant in the Yukon with a mountain & lake view). Customer service was top-notch as well. 

We stayed at one of the lakefront cabins and really enjoyed it. We loved being disconnected to fully relax, spend time reading books, and go for walks. The views are simply stunning. 

Thanks guys for making our stay a perfect vacation! I am sure that we will be back.


Perfect Get-Away

Words cannot give this experience the justice it deserves. The knowledge of the guides dogsledding and snowmobiling is unsurpassed. The wilds of the Yukon truly are shown off at this resort. Needless to say the aurora sightings were also a highlight. Kudos to Oliver, Rachel, Kristoff and chef Bruno. We had the most amazing time. Awe inspiring. The world is an amazing place and we need to do everything to protect it. We only have one planet

Best experiences 

Our family had an incredible trip to the Yukon and loved our stay at Southern Lakes Resort. The staff were beyond friendly and accommodating and we enjoyed the food, the activities, and the hospitality. We saw the Northern Lights! Highly recommend this trip and this location. Stunning beauty.

Winter wonderland

Stayed for two nights. Cabin was well equipped with a gas fire that looked real although it was a bit of a bitch to work out to turn on.

Restaurant food was excellent, place being run bay a couple who also were chef and server most of the time.

The cabins overlook the lake so great views. Good walks.

Classic wood cabins

We spent two nights in a small wooden cottage (cabin), with all the comforts, the view of the beautiful lake, very good literacy, very quiet. Restoration(and finally the real kitchen) and breakfast nothing says just perfect.No wifi in the cabin but has the reception and restaurant
