We had another lovely stay at Liahona Guest House. As always, the rooms were spotless and well appointed and the grounds were well kept. This makes Liahona Guest House a wonderful place to spend time relaxing, both inside and out. The sauna is a great addition and just elevates the experience that much more. If you are looking for a place to unwind so you can reconnect with family and nature, this is your place.

We have stayed at the Liahona guest house several times and have never been disappointed!  The owners have taken time to pay attention to details that make for a wonderful stay.  The rooms are always clean.   We appreciated the snacks and small kitchen appliances that let us really feel at home.  
On our most recent stay, we made use of the sauna every chance we had!  So relaxing.  A perfect addition to this lovely guesthouse.  
We will definitely be back.

Cozy retreat

An idyllic setting. The Liahona Guest House is located near the end of a non-through fare road, surrounded by mature, west coast trees and the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The grounds are landscaped to highlight the beauty of Vancouver Island.
From the windows of our room we could watch the eagles soar, the heron fish, even the occasional seal emerge from below the water. The silence was almost tangible. During a previous visit during summer months, we had enjoyed the pleasing warmth of the fire pit. For this visit during the winter we relaxed in the Nordic outdoor sauna. It was hard to believe that we were just minutes’ walk from the downtown core, or a very short drive to the world-renowned hiking trails. 
The accommodation. We have stayed in rooms 1 and 2, and we would recommend either. I’ll say up front that the pictures on the website do not do justice to what we experienced. Clearly the owners have invested in their Guest House: many of the furnishings are new, the walls are freshly painted, the beds and bedding are remarkably comfortable, and the bathrooms immaculate. The drawers and closets provide plenty of storage space. 
The extra touches. Everywhere we turned we found the signs of proud owners who care about their guests. We were met with a friendly welcome. They were glad to offer advice or inquire about what we had gotten up to during our daily explorations, but they always respected our privacy. In the room there was a large basket filled with complementary snacks and a note encouraging us to enjoy the contents – which, having a sweet-tooth, I did!  They had recently installed an electric-vehicle charger, anticipating the need of their future guests. A classy and thoughtful addition.

Our stay was truly delightful. I would recommend the Liahona Guest House unconditionally!


A Hidden Gem


Very comfortable. Safe, quiet, convenient and very picturesque location on tidal estuary. Clearly, the owners put a lot of thought into creating this guest house and furnishing its amenities which include robes, beach towels,  snack basket, a small but thoughtfully accessorized "kitchenette", comfortable chairs on the communal terrace/ lawn area, and an outdoor fire pit (which could not be used during my stay due to dry conditions and forest fire danger...very responsible of the owners).  They provided helpful suggestions for breakfast locations and very clear instructions for accessing the room (via text ahead of my stay).  

Would happily stay again….that says it all.

Liahona guesthouse is beautiful! Currently here for our second stay. You enter through your own door onto a beautiful estuary. The grounds are beautifully kept, the rooms are clean and beds comfortable. You receive some added extras like robes and complimentary snacks that show the hosts care and know what they are doing. A beautiful setting with easy access to the region’s amenities and fun. Highly recommend!

Beautiful, tranquil, clean, comfy, cozy

Such a beautiful house and suites in a great location. Close to tons of walks and town, super clean, easy to park and use EV charger as well. Beds were very comfy, sheets soft. Beverages and snacks were a lovely touch.  Wifi worked very well, made it easy to work. Check out the ancient cedars walk! 

Awesome location with great amenities!

What a beautiful location. Pictures really can’t capture it! The rooms are lovely and beautifully appointed. The wildlife and garden are amazing. Eagles flying over head, herons feeding in the cove and deer grazing in the fields. Just fabulous. Cant imagine a nicer spot.

Beautiful island oasis

i had a 2 night stay at the Liahona and will be back! My suite exited out on to the estuary, so no worries about having to share elevators or commin hallways.   It offered easy access to the Wild Pacific Trail and town (and the locals were most welcoming with full social distancing) It was a great choice for me! Quiet, comfy bed and awesome hosts! (And lovely scones to boot!)

Excellent choice in these times of COVID

Stayed here in October 2019, had an amazing time and Roy is an amazing host.  Lovely home baking and went bear watching in the canoe.  So much to do here and Roy's advice was amazing.  Absolutely recommended  :-)

Amazing place, awesome host

This is a very beautiful part of the world and the Liahona Guest House is in a particularly lovely setting, particularly if you like wildlife. The host, Roy, was very gracious providing us with a wonderful iteniary which we followed which allowed us to see so many things we wouldn’t have known about. It does take some getting to get to Ucluelet but don’t let that put you off- it is worth it! The guest house is very comfortable and breakfast is plentiful and very nicely presented. My only quibbles are with the door of our accomodation- as Roy himself said, it needs replacing and caused us a bit of anxiety as to how to open, close, lock etc. Bathroom was a great size and super clean but there was a problem with the tap which probably could have been dealt with before we arrived but these are very minor things and I am sure it is quite difficult to get things to Ucluelet. They in no way detracted from a wonderful two days - thank you Roy and we are so glad little Texas was found alive and well.
