This was an amazing experience! The cabin was so warm and comfortable and quiet. We had such a great sleep because of the fresh mountain air and cozy atmosphere. Elke provides a detailed hand drawn map and descriptive booklet for the necessities and the best hikes in the area. She’s better than google!! My husband had to book this as my birthday present and he’s terrible with the internet. She was so kind and helpful so she helped him through all of it over the phone. The customer service was amazing..The view from the cabin is spectacular and it’s equipped with everything you need. I can’t wait to come back again.

A scenic peaceful paradise

My husband and I came to Valemont to take our avalanche course (which I highly recommend to ALL sledders) but gained much more.  So peaceful, relaxing and gorgeous views.  This place taught us it is okay during our busy lives to just take a minute and enjoy the small things.  
Elke was very accommodating for our sled trailer and always around if we needed.  Can’t wait to go back.

Winter vacation 

We had a 3 night stay in the Pine Cabin.  Absolutely stunning! Beautifully furnished, everything you could ask for, lovely location and surroundings.  We BBQ’d most nights, had breakfast outdoors!  It was quite magical! You felt you were in the wilderness!   
We have stayed in a few cabins during our tour of BC, Alberta and the Yukon....but this was the best and wished we could have stayed there longer!
Elke is absolutely lovely and friendly and has put a lot of efforts in producing great walks, activities and information in the cabin!  Thoroughly enjoyable stay!   Thank you Elke!

A little piece of heaven

Our stay at Mica Mountain was one of the highlights of our trip around BC. The cabin was perfect - nicely situated, comfy and well equipped. One morning, while we were sitting having our coffee, a bear wandered past! That was pretty special. The cabins are a short drive from Mt Robson park (another highlight of the trip - the Lake Kinney trail is stunningly beautiful). Elke, the owner, was very welcoming and a great source of local knowledge. Overall, an unforgettable experience.

Fantastic escape

We spent 4 nights in Elke and Jürgen's Pine Cabin. The cabin is clean, comfortable and very private. We had a great time just relaxing and waking up to the view of the mountains was just a pleasure. Elke and Jürgen are very welcoming and friendly. We experienced Jürgen's ATV which was a great way to spend an afternoon. The town of Valemont is a 15 minute drive and would recommend the Caribou Grill for an evening meal. I would not hesitate to rent from Elke and Jürgen again. Thank you Elke and Jürgen x

Away from the madding crowd!

We absolutely loved our stay here. So much so, we are torn about sharing information because we'd like to keep it a secret to ourselves. However, I have appreciated previous guest's comments, so will chime in and share details of this beautiful find.

We had the Mica Cabin, which we found to be a dream, it was so perfect. The views are breath-taking, both day and night. We respect and appreciate all the work that goes into making this place to beautiful, sound, and spotlessly clean.

The Mica Cabin is comfortable and spacious for two people. The bed (Queen) is comfortable and cozy. The kitchen has the coolest one-unit stove-top (two burners), fridge (with tiny freezer) and sink. There is a coffee pot, tea kettle, toaster and microwave.

There is a large kitchen table for eating/playing card games.

The living room is spacious with a large chesterfield (pulls out into a bed) and comfortable armchair looking over Mica Mountain (and others). There is a TV (satellite feed), but we never switched it on. How can you when you have such amazing scenery around you? There is also a cast iron "stove" that provides ambient lighting as if you had a real fire.

The washroom is spotless and spacious. It has a full size tub for bathers, and seems to have unlimited hot water for showers. 

There are windows that open, and baseboard electric heaters if it gets chilly. The front porch was where we spent our time, on comfortable, sturdy furnishings that had the most amazing views.

There are pretty lights you can plug in at night time which gives some security if you get jumpy in the pitch black of night. However, recommend switching them off an gaze upon the stars and Milky Way. City dwellers will appreciate this reminder of our place in the universe.

Elke and Jurgen are wonderful, thoughtful, kind hosts. Jurgen has one of those handshakes that assures you that you are safe from anything, and among friends. Elke is kind, friendly, and knows the area extremely well. Importantly she understands her clients without words being spoken (sort of like a tourist whisperer). Both Elke and Jurgen are hardworking and pride of ownership shows throughout their property. We particularly appreciated the hand-drawn map of the area of local sites (we kept our copy as a souvenir) as well as the structure, design and decoration of the cabin. We had complete privacy for the duration, which is exactly what we were seeking.

Behind the cabin is a fire pit, with picnic table and chairs. Bundles of wood are available for purchase. This area is also private, and made for a lovely evening for us to roast wieners and watch the sun set over the mountains.

My husband and I are avid train watchers, and were delighted to hear the trains (in the distance) run through the area. The cabin is close to the river, with beautiful views and eagles soaring overhead.

We were not able to take part in the side-by-side ATV tour this trip, but we look forward to giving this a try on our next.

The cabins do not have wifi, although I understand it is available if you go near the main lodge. Regular cell reception is very good.

We just arrived home, but are already planning for our next trip away. Thank you so much Elke and Jurgen, for sharing your beautiful space with us.

Too Beautiful for Words

Our second time as Elke's guests at Mica Mountain Log Cabins was just as wonderful as it was the first time my wife discovered it and we had made a impromptu stay. The Cabins are clean and warm and best place to be with your love in midst of that magnificent view out of the large window. Elke is gracious handouts all the instructions and a hand drawn map of activities one can pursue. That is very helpful. The location of Mica Mountain Log Cabins is awesome.. not very far from Highway 16, 15 minutes from Valemount Village, is smack in the middle to explore and plan your hikes and views nearby. 

We loved it so much that this year as soon we got time we could with the kids we hit the road. We were a bit early in the season but we were keen to explore the trails this spring. We had a happy fun filled 3 nights and the kids had the best cabin to themselves (Bear). We left them alone to enjoy the cabin and they want to go back already.. 

Second time around had to be with the kids... 

My wife and I stayed at the Bear Cabin for three nights.  It was comfortable, cozy and warm.  The hosts are friendly and helpful and they keep the place spotless and clean during our stay.  We schlepped a lot of stuff up to the Cabin door, so a wagon would be helpful to move a lot of gear, if you travel like us.  That was a minor shortcoming, though.
The cabins have a gorgeous view of the mountains! We sat outside and had our breakfast and coffee as we took in the view.  That view is why I gave this place five stars.  



Great Cabin!

We left a positive , though critical and honest review of our stay here but this was followed by a litany of abuse by the owner in their response.  She tends to do this when guests have not ‘complied’ to her desire of a 10/10 review!  She obviously has not slept in the cabin because to say you can’t hear the frequent trains passing by is nothing less than a lie.
